Can’t stress enough how much of South Park’s core premise was predicated on the children as ill mouthed protagonists juxtaposed to the absurdity of the adult world around them. The fact Matt and Trey had to be pressured by the network to even flesh out their families in order to adhere to a more traditional sitcom model is a pretty big testament of where the show’s themes originated
