WEEK 9 POST
The multimodel text that I have chosen this week is a stop motion animation created by a student called ‘The boy and his hat’. I chose this video as it represents 3 modes of text written (the story), visual (stop motion animation) and audio (spoken word and sound effects).
I would use this as a mentor text when introducing stop motion animation to the students in the art curriculum. The basic paper drawings is a great way to show students the beginning steps of how to create a stop motion animation. By teaching them the basic steps to create a stop motion animation, they will be experiencing using different modes of text in a single literacy lesson.

WEEK 7 POST
It’s vital that as teachers they continue to develop and improve their personal knowledge and skills of a range of different learning areas especially language, literacy or  literature. Through research and experiences seen on placement below I have provided two resources that aim to share and help the personal knowledge and skills of teachers to improve in areas such as language and literacy.
1. ‘Teach Starter is a subscription-based service that provides teachers with hundreds of thousands of pages of quality digital teaching resources.’
Their vision is to inspire every child to build a purposeful and happy life through learning and also improve teachers personal knowledge and skills in a range of different learning areas. This service provides teachers with an abundance of classroom activities/ decorations, lesson plans and reading material that will aim to grow and develop students alphabet a-z, grammar, phonics, reading, speaking and listening, spelling, vocabulary, writing and punctuation.
2. Teacher podcasts are a great and effective way to keep your teaching skills sharp. ‘The genius of teacher podcasts is that they blend the practical advice you need to be better at your job, along with stories and advice from real educators, in an easily digestible format.’
“Teaching Matters” is an audio series exploring the unique needs of students. This podcast will help teachers to continually develop their personal knowledge and skills in various areas of learning.

WEEK 2 POST
Posters like this were used in my placement classroom to show the writing process. Whether they are writing personal narratives, recounts or any other writing style they would always follow this process.
These were used as a visual reminder to the students to show the steps to the writing process as well as used as a clip chart for the students to put their name/ photo to track their progress on a writing project.  The colourful and simple posters made it an easy tool for the students to follow and understand.

WEEK 1 POST
Throughout my childhood I was never a passionate reader. I didn’t really enjoy it and often found it quite boring. However, this one book was a real favourite of mine. Wilfrid Gordan McDonald Partridge written by Mem Fox is themed around memory loss and was written to bring children and the elderly together in the hope that teachers might initiate the inter-generational contact. I vividly remember reading this at home and talking with my parents about all the memories I had with my grandparents.
Now knowing the importance of reading, my childhood experiences will influence my teaching as I will make it a strong priority to make sure that I can motivate my students to WANT to read by finding enjoyment and satisfaction out of the books they read.
