Question 4: How things like #BlackLivesMatter and #MeToo (these are only examples, choose your own) have changed the concept of power on the web and the world. Why is this important?
The web and social media has given greater incentive to give power to anyone online. This can be seen through The Women's March movement that took place in 2017 in order to unite women together to protest for gender equality and other threats to women's rights. Thousands of people took part in the movement across multiple cities in America to show their support for women's rights. This led to the success of women running for office as well as an increased number of people voting. This started when a woman named Teresa Shook posted to her Facebook voicing out her outrage for treatment of women and wanting to create a pro Women March. As a result of this now there have been many more movements for women's rights which shows the importance and power of Citizen journalism on the web and how it changes the world.

Question 2: How does citizen journalism challenge traditional media's influence? Give an example from the last 5 years where a citizen journalist has been able to exert power by covering events that may have been overlooked by mainstream media. Include a screenshot of the citizen journalist's website, tweets, or other site.
Citizen journalism challenges traditional media influences by giving an alternative lens to understanding information on the media or news sources based on our current world. This is done through the internet and social media as this has allowed for anyone to blog, repost or share any type of media which can be viewed by anyone online. Therefore, this allows for multiple ways of representing information and it also allows for multiple ways of comprehending these topics that we see and hear about. An example of someone within the last 5 years who has been able to exert power by covering events that have been overlooked by the mainstream media is the YouTube channel called, “Channel 5", by Andrew Callaghan. Andrew’s journalism provides a real and raw look at the political issues around us. He does this by going to protests, such as the BLM movement or actually flying to Ukraine to talk to the people there about their experience living in an active war. He talked to the people directly by simply asking questions and letting them talk freely without any intention of swaying or misconstruing the information being said.
This is Andrew Callaghan reporting from Ukraine this is important as it gives a more personalized understanding of what is happening in Ukraine. Image Reference: (Andrew Callaghan, 2022)
