Osteria Morini

Calling all my Burrata lovers! Tap into this creamy, sweet and savory goodness at Osteria Morini! An Italian restaurant hidden between the never ending stores and outlets. If you happen to be at Roosevelt Field Mall doing some holiday shopping and looking for a place to grab bite, head out over here! While I won’t say it’s the best Italian food I’ve ever had, there are definitely some dishes that are worth the bragging. Here’s what I had: •Burrata: Creamy mozzarella with diced pumpkin and tomatoes smeared on a warm, toasted sourdough bread, with a light drizzle of balsamic oil 🤤 Need I say more? I’m so used to have my burrata with the usual tomato and arugula along with the bread. The diced pumpkin was definitely a game changer for me and reminded me how well sweet and savory go together. •Costata: A boneless ribeye steak. While it may look juicy and drenched in flavor, I was not impressed. Compared to the usual steak I have, the quality wasn’t all that. I found myself chewing more than I had to and something about the steak sauce just didn’t mesh well with the meat. It was edible but I probably wouldn’t have it again.•Cappelletti: A truffled ricotta ravioli melted in butter. This was probably the best thing about my meal! Morini specializes in making their own pasta, so they make sure to serve everything fresh and right our the oven. With each bite, I definitely tasted, what I imagine, the authentic Italian touch. The ricotta literally melts into your mouth as you bite down on it. •Gelato: For dessert, I had three scoops of gelato icecream, each being a different flavor: strawberry, pistachio, and vanilla. Loved it! I love gelato and this just completed my entire meal. I was already stuffed, so have those scoops wasn’t too much for the stomach. Pistachio was my favorite, but everyone has their own preference. If you’re ever in Long Island, check this place out! Add this to your bookmarks and let me know how you like it!

Crumb Cookie

Any matcha lovers? Boy do I love these cookies. Normally I don’t have that big of a sweet tooth, but I’ll always be in the mood for these cookies! Crumb Cookies offers a range of different cookies, from the classic chocolate chip to matcha. These are possibly the best cookies I’ve ever had and something I’ll never get tired of. The matcha cookie has a crisp soft crust with a soft, fluffy center. Not to mention it’s covered with macadamia nuts to add the extra crunch and flavor. I can literally have 3 in one sitting- yes I have done it. Pair this with a glass of milk and you won’t regret! Try out their other flavors, they’re all soft and chewy and worth every penny! What’s your favorite cookie?

Cipriani

Date night? Or just treat yourself! Whatever it is, Cipriani has you covered. When the weather was warmer and outdoor dining was bearable, I headed out here to see what the hype was about. While this place did have many mixed reviews, after my three course meal, I can confidently say it was worth every penny. From their bubbly Billinis to their light and creamy Vanilla Meringue Cake, I enjoyed every bite and I’m looking forward to going back. •Homemade Baked Tagliolini alla Cipriani w/o ham: Portions for this are small if you’re planning on sharing with multiple people. This is good enough for two people and a great side dish for your main course. I loved the creaminess of this pasta. It wasn’t overwhelming nor was it bland. My only regret was not having this come out with my steak instead of having it as my appetizer. •Waygu Rib-eye Steak “Tagilata”: This steak tastes better than it looks. If you know me, you know I love a good steak and this is something I’ll always recommend getting if anyone were to try it out. It came with a serving of baked potatoes that were cooked to perfection. They were so fresh and crispy, you can literally see its golden glare. Not to mention it was seasoned with just the right amount of salt. Must have. •Colorado Lamb Chops: It was appetizing for my partner, but I took a pass on it. Something about it wasn’t sitting well with my taste buds, but there was none leftover so? Don’t knock it till you try it, am I right? At least it came with baked potatoes 😋 •Vanilla Meringue Cake: I absolutely loved this dessert. I’m not a big fan of cream, especially when it comes to cake. But that cream was whipped by the gods because what!! So light and creamy but not overwhelming whatsoever. This is a must try and is probably one of the best meringue cakes I’ve ever had. Cipriani has me hooked and I hope when I go back it’s just as how I remember it. They’re usually booked most of the time so make sure to plan ahead. Add this to your bookmarks and let me know how you like it! 🍽 P.S. TRY THE BILLINIS! They’re a little pricey but so refreshing 🥂

🇯🇲Jamaica Meals🇯🇲

Long overdue but hey hey I’m back 😌 As you may or may not know, your girl just recently took a trip to Jamaica and it’s only right I show you guys my favorite meals! I was lucky enough to travel during the pandemic for my 22nd birthday and of course took all the precautions necessary to keep me and my friends safe. Jamaica was so great to all of us, the food, the people, the views, the culture! I’m so grateful to have enjoyed this experience with my amazing friends along with the authentic meals I devoured 🤤 Not to mention the beef patties, aaahhhh the notorious, flaky crust! Believe me when I say, I’ve probably had over 20 beef patties that week. (NYC got nothing on these Caribbean meals) For the first portion of my stay, I stayed at a Villa in St. Elizabeth that had their own personal chefs. They were one of the sweetest people I’ve met and has made my experience 1000x more enjoyable. They made sure to come through with the Jamaican flavors and spice! We later on headed back to Montego Bay and spent our last few days at a resort. While I did enjoy the meals at the resort, nothing compares to actual Jamaican food. I’m so glad we ventured outside the resort to an authentic restaurant because then I wouldn’t have came across, possibly, the best jerk chicken (second pic). We went to a local restaurant called Peppa’s Cool Spot, where we got the Braised Oxtail, Garlic Creamed Shrimp and the Jerk Chicken. Everything was great but that Jerk Chicken has my heart. The tender, juicy chicken was drenched in a sauce that you really can’t find anywhere in New York. It had its own distinct flavor, a bit fruity with a nice kick to it. It came with a side of coleslaw and rice and peas; each side complemented the chicken so well. Best believe there were no left overs! I wish I extended my stay a little longer just so I can relive that meal 😩 I can go all day raving about my experience and the meals but safe to say, I love Jamaica 🇯🇲 and I will be back for everything it has to offer! 😌 #onelove

MO:DEN

📍MO:DEN Fun fact: I love trying out new restaurants especially if they’re new in town. MO:DEN, unfortunately, does not have a geotag yet, but they are located in flushing. They’re a brand new Korean restaurant that serves not your ordinary-dishes that you’re probably used to. A Korean-tapa styled menu filled with simple, clean-cut dishes. It’s the perfect amount food that satisfies the tummy and doesn’t make you feel bloated or slumped right after. •Mushroom Tofu Noodle: I loved this dish because I absolutely love anything with mushrooms and tofu. It comes with an egg filled with runny yolk. You’re suppose to quickly mix the egg into the noodles to add texture and I don’t know I just loved it. Made me feel good about what I was eating 😂 •Fire Squid: This is essentially grilled squid covered with spices. It was ok, nothing crazy. Probably wouldn’t get it again. •Steak Ssam: A NY strip cooked at medium rare. This was actually good- if you ate it right. It comes with lettuce, pickled daikon, and soy romesco sauce. I’m sure a lot of you would ignore all the extras and go straight to the meat, but I assure you, you are missing out on the entire Korean-meal experience! Look at the last picture for reference. Make sure you get all that good stuff in your steak lettuce wrap 😋 With my meal I also had a bottle of rice wine. Rice wine with steak is different, so give that a try if you haven’t. Overall, my experience was decent. It’s not a meal that I would consider worth bragging about for days but something I’d definitely recommend to someone in the neighborhood. I’d probably go back again to try out their lunch menu, but till then on to the next! If you’re nearby flushing, looking for a table to feed mouths, this place will more than likely have space for you and your friends. LETS EAT

BCD Tofu House

After a good leg day at the gym, me and my girls love treating ourselves to BCD Tofu house! Get a taste of Korean flavor with their “danger” tofu soup and more 🤤 For starters, like most Korean spots, they offer small plates of kimchi, seaweed, fish cake, broccoli, pickles, and fried fish to munch on throughout the meal. They offer refills, so you can easily get more if you run out. What we got: •La Gal Bi Combo w/Tofu Soup: This is one of my favorite dishes. The beef ribs is marinated with bbq and cooked to par, giving us the perfect ratio of flavor and tenderness. The portions of the combo are huge, and the tofu soup with the rice just brings the entire meal together. Love my protein!! •Bulgogi Combo w/ Tofu Soup: Another delicious combo, the portions are huge so you’ll definitely be able to share with at least 1 other person. The meat was a little dry, but definitely worth trying. •Restaurant special: The name of the last combo slipped my mind and I’m actually so upset because it’s my favorite thing there 😩If you love mushrooms, in all shapes and sizes, then you will loveeeee this house special. Although it’s not fixed into the permanent menu, they have a separate menu for their specials- yes, there is pictures so just point and order 😭 This combo consists of fried rice that comes in a hot pot with several different types of mushrooms. Once you mix it up and eat it with your tofu soup *chefs kiss* Everything about this dish was perfect. Overall, I definitely enjoyed every single bite of my meal. This spot literally has become my go-to the minute I stepped foot and I’m hoping it will for you too! Try to hit their lunch specials , you’ll be able to get the same thing- smaller portions at a much better price. LETS EAT 😛

Oxomoco

✨ Michelin Star Restaurant ✨ Not authentic Mexican food but it is good. Take a mini trip into Tulum through Oxomoco with its green scenery and Mexican inspired food. They offer a small menu with its top dishes- a little pricey, but was it worth it? Depends on what you get. •Oxomoco Guacamole: Essentially just guac with 4 pieces of fried tortillas. It was good. It’s hard to mess up on guac so I’m glad they got that down. More than enough for two, might even end up having extra left for your tacos. •Arrachera Flank Steak: Star of the show!! So good, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The steak is so juicy and tender, it literally drips down with each bite. Add their Oxomoco hot sauce to give it a kick 🤪 •Lamb Barbacoa: This dish was okay. Nothing too crazy, no wow factor either. If anything it was a little too salty and a bit dry. It was missing something. I even tried drowning it in hot sauce and guac to add flavor but it just wasn’t as good as the steak taco. As for drinks, we got the Coco Enano and the Hibiscus tea. Drinks were great, we loved sipping on them and physically pleasing to look at. Overall my experience was nice. The portions look small, but it does get you full. I wish they had a bigger menu to choose from, but I guess because I went early on the day, their choices were limited. This place is a good spot to catch up with a friend or a cute little date. If you’re in Brooklyn, drop by and GRAB THE STEAK TACOS, won’t regret!

Ravagh Persian Grill

Trynna figure out where to eat? Well if you’re a Queens native, you’ve probably heard of Kabul Kabab House (if not definitely try it for good local food grabs) that’s famously known for their meat packed platters. If you’ve enjoyed that, take it to the next level and try out Ravagh Persian Grill. While they are much alike, Ravagh serves quality meats, compacted with flavor, that melt into your mouth with every bite. I like to call this the “Boujee Kabul Kabab.”During my visit there, I ordered the Combination Kebob that comes with a serving of a plate full of basmati rice. This serving was more than enough for three people, while also leaving some leftovers depending on how hungry you are.
-Combination Kebob Platter comes with one skewer of Barg Kebob (beef), one skewer of Jujeh Kebob (chicken on bone), and two skewers of Kobideh Kebob (beef). Now lemme tell you, when I say the meat is quality… it is! So tender and juicy and if you want extra flavor, they provide their own chili spices, white sauce, and cilantro based sauce in addition to the meal. In my opinion the sauce isn’t even necessary and that says a lot.
Be prepared to leave with a full stomach. This place is great for a meal with both friends and family. They also serve alcoholic beverages, so why not get a little boozy? You can thank me later 😌 LETS EAT

Rice & Miso

So light yet refreshing and flavorful! If you’re in Brooklyn looking for a quick-clean bite with just the right amount of food, stop by Rice & Miso. They have a small menu that’s straight to the point made with clean ingredients. A Japanese meal that I’d definitely grab again. These are for my people that’s into rice balls and Japanese food in general- but on the healthier side. The bento box offers two rice balls with a protein and two osozai- the portions are more than enough for one. *By the way the two osozai changes daily*
What I got: -Salmon Bento Box: One grass-fed beef rice ball and tuna-mayo rice ball 😩 The tuna-mayo was SO good, I wish I got two of those instead but beef wasn’t bad, definitely worth a try. I had salmon as my main protein which was a little dry but I liked it. It wasn’t overwhelming with flavor. The two osozai I had were string beans and edamame- I loved them. Seasoned to perfection. -Chicken Bento Box: Two beef grass-fed rice balls, it was calm. The chicken was decent too, like I said they try to aim for a light/refreshing meal which matches their aesthetic. String beans and a crunchy seaweed salad 😋 They really got their osozais down cause it slappppeddd. Overall I loved it, as much as I love my meat packed meals I do love my healthy-light ones. A simple yet a wholesome meal, give it a try!

VIV Thai

Ok buttt look at all that color 🤩 VIV Thai is known for their vibrant ambiance, and they make sure it’s known through their food and drinks. Their food menu is like most typical Thai restaurants, but what makes them so special is their presentation and obviously the food itself. They get real funky with their drinks and yes it tastes as good as it looks 🤤 For starters (although not presented): -Crab Rangoon: Wasn’t as good as I thought it would be, it was a bit too fishy. Probably won’t get it again, so definitely try out a different appetizer. -Pad See-Eiw w/ Shrimp: My classic go-to at all Thai restaurants. I asked for it be extra spicy and they came through with it! The portions were huge, did not skimp with the basil (which I love) and the spice was up to par. Overall, very satisfied with my entree. -Basil Fried Rice w/ Chicken: My friend got his classic go-to and definitely enjoyed it just as much. I’m a spice fiend, so his dish wasn’t hot enough for my liking but it was flavorful. As for the drinks I got the “Dirty Chihuahua”, and my friend got the “Kiwing Me Softly.” Both drinks weren’t too overwhelming, they were both great cocktails to sip on. Have enough of them and you’ll definitely start feeling nice 🤪 Overall my experience was great. This place is great go-to with friends for lunch or to grab dinner during happy hour 🥂 Add this to your bookmark and if you end up going let me know how you like it!

Gordon Ramsay Steakhouse

Think about this Mac & Cheese everyday 😩*chefs kiss* -Gordon Ramsay Bone-in Ribeye Steak -Mac and Cheese - Gratinèed Spinach with Parmesan cheese -Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar After this meal I’m gonna let Gordon Ramsay talk his shit on meals. The steak was very juicy and tender, although my steak was more on the fatty side which was unfortunate (I prefer less fat, more meat). The sides were probably the best thing about this meal. Not many steakhouses perfect their sides as much as they perfect their steaks- but I love to come across a restaurant that values their side courses just as much as their main. The Mac and Cheese and the Gratinèed spinach were the perfect complements and I’m still thinking about them till this day. Both side dishes have the perfect balance between creaminess and crunch. Truly a mouthwatering dish. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar was good, a bit overwhelming after a couple bites. Great for chocolate/peanut butter lovers but I would probably go back and try out a different dessert next time. Overall experience/meal: 8.5/10

About Me
My name is Sanjidha Khan and I am currently a senior at City College. I was born in Bangladesh and immigrated to the US when
I was 3 months old. Since then I grew up in Queens, New York where I came across people from all over the world. Queens being the most diverse borough gave me an advantage to learn about different backgrounds, cultures. Moving around also played a huge part growing up, so I constantly had to adjust and adapt to new environments, neighborhoods and schools.
As a immigrant household, my parents did their very best to make sure I had all the necessities to grow into a successful young woman. They were never really one to broadcast their struggles and always made sure to have food on the table. I didn’t realize how grateful I am for all their doings till I entered adulthood and started working on myself. While at first I was very lost and unsure of what I was to become of myself, with time I grew a passion for digital media and connecting with others. I later then took the next step of managing projects, campaigns and conducting data analysis during my free time. I started to grow a passion for project management and seeing it flourish.
With the skills I attain, both, through PR and Advertising, I hope to apply it onto my own business one day. Till then I’m heavily interested in getting my feet wet in the advertising world, building relations, and launching campaigns.
