How old is the cast in wmebsd? Umineko tells us their relative ages (Krauss is 2 years older than Eva who's 3 years older than Natsuhi) but not when they were born so there's room to shift their ages up and down a bit for narrative convenience. (Rudolf and Rosa have a little more evidence and can be inferred to have been born in 41 and 53 respectively)

sorry for taking a little while to answer this, it involves numbers and MATH. I'll start by saying their ages in wmebsd is one of those things i kind of purposely left a little vague, since we ourselves in the canon source don't have any confirmed years for all of them. The best we can do is take what little information the story does give us and work around that.

Eva says herself she's 3 years older than Natsuhi, and I don't remember if it's ever actually stated anywhere that Krauss is 2 years older than Eva, but i do have a very vague memory of that being mentioned somewhere? maybe the manga. If you have an exact moment where it's said, please share it with me because i've always had this memory of seeing it but can't remember where it was. With that in mind, I think most people generally figure Eva's about 50, so Krauss would be 52 and Natsuhi 47. The story takes place in 1986, and Jessica is 18, but it took Natsuhi 12 years to have her in the first place, so that's 30 years right there. This would put the year at 1956 and Natsuhi at 17.

Now, this is just assuming Natsuhi is 47, she could be older than that, but working with these numbers in mind, I think it's a pretty good estimate. It also wouldn't surprise me if she was married in only at 17 :/ Or she was married in pretty much right after graduating school, so 18. Given all that, though, I will say in wmebsd, I always intended that Natsuhi is at least 18 years old. Definitely 18-20.

I'll admit, for the case of Rudolf and Rosa, back when I first started wmebsd, I hadn't really stopped to take the time to try and estimate their ages as much, and rather I actually just took inspiration from a lot of other fanworks at the time. (I assume the listed years you gave for when they were born has to do with years involving when Kinzo moved them all to Rokkenjima and working with that in mind? Please clarify if you don’t mind, as I’m quite intrigued actually, but don’t remember all the established years the game does give us </3)

oh, i've actually kind of thought of this with Survival au, since they wouldn't live in a mansion like on the island. I figure Natsuhi would probably be the one to do more of the housework just because she's home all the time and it gives her something to do (which could also in of itself become a coping mechanism), but that doesn't mean Eva wouldn't every now and then maybe, since she was the wife of the house when she was married to Hideyoshi and I imagine that means she did take care of the chores during that time. It is possible though that Eva hires someone to come by every now and then to take care of it, but also I get the feeling that, even in canon without Natsuhi there, Eva probably wouldn't really want random people in her house. In the case of cooking, since EP3 does give us an idea with Hideyoshi saying Eva was really good at it, I think she might still be the one to take care of that mostly when she's in the mood to.

For a more canon look, I think Natsuhi still would be, because that's kind of what she's supposed to oversee, and Eva would probably look down on her for it and make her because of rank dfnvfdk </3 (unless she wants to make it a competition and prove she's better at it than her)

We all know Natsuhi sucks at video games but Eva most definitely went out of her way to catch a wild Mew in Pokémon Green without using GameShark in her attempts to win Ange's affection.

this is such a specific thing to send and i'm so sorry to say my knowledge on pokemon is pretty limited for the most part, but Eva would suck at video games just as much, she'd be all talk and then be like "how do you jump?"

that's a good question! I think, at least at first, Natsuhi would be very against it/not completely comfortable with it for obvious repressed reasons, but she's honestly so touch starved and lonely and in desperate need of physical and emotional contact, that she'd actually end up really liking it

ok, so i actually kind of talked about this before in a previous ask where I basically said I feel like Natsuhi would be the type to not really go all out with makeup in general (she wears enough to what's "appropriate" and "expected" for a woman to wear.

while Kinzo is a pretty primary source of everything wrong with the family, and as much as I hate him, it is a bit unfair to pin ALL the blame on him for the cycle of abuse that no one else seems very willing to try and break. Kinzo himself was also a victim of circumstance with originally basically just being forced to be a figurehead for the family until he struck gold and completely took over and did whatever the fuck he wanted (and was a complete bitch about it).

He is still very much not a good person (a well written character, yes), and it's made very clear a lot of the problems involving everyone in the family and island were a direct and also indirect result of how he treated all of them, but again, a huge theme in Umineko is about the cycle of abuse, and many of them are grown adults who are in control of how they act when he's not even around. So basically, in other words, Kinzo is a huge factor in the family dysfunction, but also everyone else should be held accountable for their own bad behaviors.

I think it's pretty clear Natsuhi wishes she had a better relationship with her for sure, but she just cares way too much about upholding the legacy and pride of the family name and trying to make Jessica fit the role of being a proper heir which unfortunately puts a lot of obvious strain on their relationship.

Canonically speaking, Eva hates it a lot! It's even made a big point in EP3 right towards the beginning and used to help prove part of a mystery for Battler later on towards the end. With the absolute lesbian look they gave her in the flashback in the anime, though, it is easy to imagine she at least tried smoking before, which i messed around with the idea in scenario 10 of this old fic

Hmm, that's an interesting question. While Natsuhi does really want to be acknowledged and accepted in the family, and has a lot of pride for the Ushiromiya name, I don't think having a Western first name would really be something she'd want. If we take into account what Battler tells the reader very early on in EP1, he expresses how he finds it "weird" if I remember correctly, and also states how it causes issues with a lot of people reading his name wrong, some of the other members' being difficult to read too. So, we can't really say for sure since that's all his own personal opinion on the matter, but I think it's safe to assume the siblings and other cousins might have felt similarly about it at least at some point in their lives, so yeah, I think that's one aspect of the family Natsuhi would probably be personally fine without
