Vampires are a species of subterranean undead, distantly related to warblers. They are born from the blood of a human spilled in or near a natural cave.  Xiomara and Alma are from the same cave, and consider each other sisters.

Warblers, of the New World and Old World varieties. Both types gestate underground and feed primarily on carrion; Old World warblers tend to emerge from mass burial sites, whereas New World warblers prefer remote crossroads. Both types have been historically regarded as plague-bringers, but only Old World warblers are actually associated with the spread of human disease. New World warblers occasionally promote parasite infections in livestock, but despite their unsanitary appearance and eating habits, they ultimately reduce the overall burden of disease in their environment by helping to dispose of carcasses.

My concept art for Flamecaller in psshaw‘s “Stormcatcher is a mad scientist and also gratuitously German” AU has undergone some kind of fucked up sketch mitosis and now you get 3x as many scary Grace Jones homages for the price of one. ‘

In conclusion, I really really like black leather and dramatic makeup.

Anyway, you know how there's that fan theory that Meiling is a dragon youkai? The dragon in this case is Trogdor.

Some design notes: 

-XTREME DRAMA EYEBROWS. Our Lady Of Perpetual Facial Absurdity.  

-Totally cuts her own hair with safety scissors (pilfered from Keine). 

-She's an ice fairy, so I slanted her skintones towards the cool end of the spectrum. For blush tones,  I couldn't decide whether I wanted to go with red or blue, so I wound up splitting it fifty-fifty. Hopefully the result looks good even if her circulation makes zero fucking sense. 

- I like this sort of sporty take on her outfit - I feel like it fits with a character who probably spends most of her time stomping through ponds and terrorizing the local fauna. 

-There was a point during my rough sketches where she looked like a reasonably on-model Nancy, and I think that basically says it all.

SKETCHBOOK DAIYOUSEI! coming to you hilariously behind schedule for reasons that no1curr about! featuring that lazy pseudo-art noveau line style that we all got tired of around 8th grade!

Anyway, as far as design goes there's not that much you can do with a nameless, dialogue-less midboss. But I do like the idea of less-sophisticated fairies having some insectoid traits, so I tried to bring that across in the limbs and eyes.

GUESS WHO'S GONNA DRAW EVERY TOUHOU?  (its me)

I've been planning this project out for a while, but I finally decided to just man up and start posting.

The basic gist is exactly what it says up there: with God as my witness, I will draw every single main-series Touhou at least once, or die trying. Just for shits and giggles, I'm also going to try and give each of them a unique appearance and set of features that I think fits their personality/species/role in the plot. Essentially, this is one part character design exercise, one part personal reference - I've been meaning to draw more Touhou fanart for a long time, and it's always easier for me when I have a good idea of how I want a character to look in my style. 

My plan is to post one drawing every third day or so, so keep checking back if you're interested~
