I have a RWBY comic called SABR. SABR is set 16 years before the fall of beacon and is a murder mystery surrounding the death of a faunus woman.

Omg I'm so excited for this 😭
RAIN Arc 3, Chapter 8: Starts 20th April
Oh shit waddup!
I decided it had been far too long since the end of chapter 7 for me to be comfortable, so I’m going to start posting chapter 8 next week! Posts after that might only be on a one-post-per-week basis as I don’t want to burn myself out, but it’s been too gosh darn long since I produced anything for you guys.
Chapter 9 is only… 40ish% done which is a painful number to look at, but trust me - it’s an utter slog to work through all these concurrent combat scenes. Hopefully it should be worth it!
So join Team RAIN on the 20th of April for their return, and the start of Arc 3′s climax…

Some thoughts about whales, and spoilers for RWBY
So Ironwood is The Tin Man, right? Everyone has that nailed down.
But most main characters have more than one mythical origin going on - like how Ruby is both red riding hood and Dorothy Gale. So what else could Ironwood be? Well I had an idea today:
As we see in “Heroes and Monsters,” Ironwood’s whole right side is prosthetic. Now, what fictional character can we think of who is well-known for having a prosthetic?
Well, I can think of one:

Captain Fucking Ahab, from Moby Fucking Dick.
And it all makes sense once you think of it. The colour scheme matches up: Atlas and Ironwood are heavily identified with white, and Ahab’s leg is described in the book as being made of polished white whale bone. On top of that, they have similar origins. Ahab is obsessed with his failure and his loss to Moby Dick, while post Season 3 Ironwood is haunted with his failure at Beacon and his loss to Salem.
Salem, a white-skinned woman who just rode in to Atlas on a giant sperm whale.

So yeah, Ironwood is screwed. If he imitates Ahab, then he’s probably going to die killing that whale and stopping Salem, and Atlas (or perhaps Amity), like the Pequod, is going down with him.
Ishmael, it should be noted, survives the sinking by hitching a ride in a coffin that happened to be on board. So keep an eye out for coffin-like things next season: that’ll end up being someone’s life boat.
“But what will Ironwood kill the whale with?” you might ask. Well, in Moby Dick Ahab uses a harpoon. Do we have any harpoon-like things in Atlas? Well, I can think of one:
This is all highly speculative, and probably wrong on several points. But Ironwood being taken over by his fear and lust for revenge, dooming Atlas, and using the staff to attack Salem would actually be in-character at this point, and would totally fit in with the Ahab vibes I’ve been getting this season.
Volume 8 is going to be a T R I P

This is genuinely so inspiring
Thought now was as good a time as any to post a style comparison for the RAIN comparison and the growth over 464 pages. Left is from the start of Arc 1, middle is from the end of Arc 1, right is from the end of Arc 2. Tried to pick the best pictures for each!

I absolutely love this idea
Qrow Theory Time
So, @yangstbh brought up how bad it was that Qrow’s alcoholism was being brushed off by the writers just having him saying he “stopped” since alcoholism obviously isn’t that easy to quit. However, this led to an interesting conversation about Qrow and Clover’s dynamic and what may happen by the end of the season.
I can’t really pinpoint why exactly, but Clover has major death flags to me. He’s just too lucky I guess, which makes sense with his semblance, but we know semblances to be tied to aura and aura is finite and has the ability to deplete and run out. This has not really been brought up since volume one, and while it would be sort of BS to bring it back now, it would also have consequences.
I think if anything, the reason why Qrow may have been able to quit drinking so easily is because he’s been around Clover, who, probably like Qrow, cannot control when he uses his semblance, but unlike Qrow it’s never been a problem, only ever an advantage in battle, so why would he bother to control it? If it leeches off him and helps his team, then it is likely helping Qrow out, which doesn’t excuse the bad writing of having Qrow simply say he doesn’t drink anymore since Argus, but it does explain a possible, temporary reason for it.
But, how far can Clover’s semblance keep going? If his semblance is the exact opposite of Qrow’s and they both can’t control it, then it’s possible that right now Clover’s semblance is just beating out Qrow’s misfortune. They both are exuding bad luck and good luck, but good luck keeps triumphing or at least evening the playing ground. What happens then, if there’s a moment Clover loses focus, or depletes his aura completely, and his semblance stops? If he’s near Qrow when it happens, it could be catastrophic, and lead to Clover’s death and even if it doesn’t, whatever the consequences are could cause Qrow to fall back into his alcoholism.
