When you’re making the comics, or any art using the style from the comics, do you use reference sheets for the characters like with the pilot? If so, will you ever release them? Also btw, I love your comics, I can’t wait for the next page lmao, and I’m just as excited for the series, honestly my favourite media ever

I did reference my old, old character sheets very early on, but I stopped after maybe a page or two of experimental comic-making because I was starting to get a better sense of who the characters were and I was becoming more comfortable drawing them from memory. They naturally began evolving and looking a little more like themselves pretty quickly, if that makes sense. There's always some drift away from the inception point. The old designs are kind of amusing to look back on maybe, but functionally, they've been obsolete for a long time.

That's just me drawing for the comic, though, where I suppose the character process must be seared into my hippocampus by now. When it's a whole team of people who haven't been drawing the same host of characters for years, yet everyone must be on the same page stylistically, and you can't leave anyone guessing what stripes go here, and how many buttons go there, you have to provide some pretty comprehensive reference material.

Mordecai Heller

I got Clip Studio Paint earlier this week and I really wanted to paint something with it so Mordecai was my test subject in that sense, hope he doesn't mind... too much.

Playing around with the brushes was so much fun, I definitely used them a bit too much in some parts but it was just so fun anyways.

Unfortunately I initially did the sketch in Medibang Paint Pro so I don't have a recording of that.

I’m going through a tough time right now, it feels like everything’s crumbling apart. I have no real friends, my dad has cancer, and my grandad is going to die any day now. And I’ll be honest it really sucks man. But your comic and it’s characters are keeping me going here, thinking about like Mordecai comforting me, it helps. Thanks.

Hey, I'm really sorry you're having a rough time. I know things can start to feel completely hopeless sometimes, and some feelings can certainly overstay their welcome, but they have a way of being impermanent. Anyway, I don't want to dump a bunch of platitudes all over you or anything - I doubt that'd help - but hang in there. Use anything to keep you afloat. If Lackadaisy helps at all, well, I'm awfully glad it's doing something for someone!
