Getting off the ground.
It has been a slow week, as far as productivity goes. However, it is of little impact. Getting started in this venture is talking longer than expected but it’s really due to my own over thinking and over planning. I don’t want to spend money on processes and then have too much downtime.
So, I will be using Amazon as the main store for buying and selling stock of the Magic cards that I come into. I also plan on attending and setting up shops at open events that are near me.
Looking for cheap shipping possibilities has proven difficult…or rather tedious. I ordered one card from an Amazon shop and looked at it closely.
Findings:
I bought a card for $.60. The card shopped in First Class mail, which is $.49 I believe. The card arrived 5 days after I ordered it and weighted 16 oz. The packaging the card arrived in cost the company approximately $.25. This includes a hard plastic top loader sleeve. The envelope itself, and the shipping tag.
So….around $.75-$1.00 to send me a card that is worth $.60. From my one order that company lost $.15-$.40 from one transaction.
The question is now….how is this sustainable?
How can I avoid this from happening?
I will let you know.

This is the beginning of a wonderful little business. #ededdgaming is a venture into buying and selling #mtgcards. As we are very recently new, we are setting up media sites first, then setting up shop. Follow the misadventures of our business on tumblr. Stay tuned for more to come. . . . #magicthegathering #mtgcommunity #mtg #mtgbuytradesell #sidejob #startup #firstpost

A glimpse into the background of E.d Edd &Gaming
Our journey begins lime so many others...
In an attempt to make money and also be involved with a game that I love…and hate. I have decided to start up an online shop in the business of buying and selling Magic:The Gathering cards. I will be use this page as a repository of my trials and errors along the way of success or failure. All for the knowledge of those who are sure to follow the same path. Take notice, I have not run a business before. I honestly sick at Magic and I haven’t played in what feels like ages…but alas, I still enjoy it. So…let’s start this journey.
I have created a facebook page, an email, and a tumblr all being linked together. Next, the twitter page and then…we figure out how I’m going to inventory my personal card collection.
I figure that if I start by selling my card collection, I can make enough money to start buying other collections. That is the plan anyways.
I just have to figure out how to not get all of the pages muddled together and the business aspect of my life with the personal aspect of my life. But..it’s all trial and error.
