Also have a TK over there now too! ( @tkstrandcd )
This blog is becoming an archive! I have moved Eddie over to a new blog with the same URL. It is also a side blog, but it is attached to a different blog ( @firstcnthesceneâ ).
All threads will continue, and Iâll do my next replies from the new blog! Nothing else is changing, just wanted to keep my first responders all in one place.Â

caffcinateâ:
She knows she shouldnât say anything, that it really wasnât her place but the man was looking a bit lost in front of the toy aisle. It looked as if itâd already been picked through once, with boxes haphazardly tossed back onto the shelf, with clothes shoved behind other items. âYou know, you could always take him somewhere special? A place he used to go with her?â Allison almost regrets saying anything in the first place, is holding a pristine looking doll in her hand. A gift for Claire, even if she wouldnât get to see her open it.
For a man whoâs colleagues oh-so-lovingly called him emotionally constipated, he hadnât meant to ofcfload his... dilemma off on a complete stranger - especially one who seemed to be well and truly invested in her own shopping escapades. He hadnât even expected a response beyond an odd look or two, but when he actually got an answer, it was safe to say it took his mind a good second or two to catch up. âI... I mean, thatâs actually more complicated than it sounds,â Eddie found himself laughing nervously, scratching the back of his neck. She definitely didnât need to hear about the mess that was his ex wife disappearing for years, âDo you uh, do you have kids?â he found himself asking, nodding towards the doll, that almost sheepish smile still settled on his lips.

Was it a surprised to see Eddie in the cage? Well, thatâd be an understatement. This was the same man that Dante had covertly been staring at while cleaning the ambulance. Now they were in an octagon, letting out some steam. A light chuckle left Danteâs lips. âYou might wanna worry about the beating youâre about to get Diaz.â He may be blind in one eye and deaf in one ear but that didnât change the fact that Dante was a former MMA champion. âReally gonna hate messing up that pretty face.â Dante gave Eddie a playful wink.
Eddie knew a bit about Danteâs past, at least enough to draw a smirk to tug at the corner of his lips at the thought of the fight to come. He wasnât dumb, he knew that an ass kicking was highly likely if he was even a fraction as good as he used to be, but it would be a challenge, a rush and hadnât that been the whole point in this? âAwfully confident there, Ramirez, you sure you wanna risk getting your ass kicked?â He retorted on a breath of a laugh, rolling his shoulder and quirking a brow at the wink. Cute. âIf winkingâs the best you got, this is gonna be a quick fight.â

buckaroo118â:
If it were anyone else, anyone but a member of his teamâanyone but EddieâBuck would be laughing his ass off. As it was, his mind kept scrolling through the lists of chemical compounds in food dyes, and the effects of prolonged exposure to them via mucous membranes. Logically he knew it was no big deal, and apart from watery eyes and smelling like Blue Razzmatazz or whatever it was called, Eddie would be absolutely fine.
Anxiety currently had the reins, however, and wasnât letting go any time soon.
âHey just making sure. That stuff isnât great to have in your eyes long-term. Plus with our luck that stuff would turn out to have, like, Ebola in it or something.â
âEbola, Buck?â Eddie asked, managing to raise a brow despite how squinted his eyes still were. They stung, there was no denying that, but it was wearing off and his sight was still intact so... that had to count for something, right? âIâm pretty sure Ebola requires actual body fluid contact to even be spread and unless someoneâs been bleeding into the slush machine, Iâd say Iâm pretty safe from that.âÂ
And yet, as he did every time, Eddie found it oddly... amusing the way that Buck seemed to be worrying so much.Â
âYou did look like a smurf there for a good hot minute, though. I thought Iâd be seeing blue for the rest of my life and I mean, itâs a great colour but I was missing the rest of the rainbow.â

fcrevrmore·:
it was a long night at the office for zehra and shouldnât wait to return home to eddie and christopher. they were usually the ones to forget about how tired she was and instantly turned her frown upside down - especially christopher. she adored that kid more than words could describe. zehra had made her way towards the bedroom until she saw christopherâs door open and the light still on. she took a peek inside and saw both boys fast asleep; a smile instantly nestled on her face.Â
she walked inside and wanted to tuck them both in until edide had woken up. âi just got home actually. walked in on you both sleeping.â zehra stated. âi was gonna kiss you guys goodnight but then you woke up. long day for you too at the station?â
Long day barely even covered shifts at the firehouse anymore. He loved his job, donât get him wrong, but the 24-hour on-off schedule was getting to him far more than he dared to admit to his fellow firefighters. He missed his bed, he missed his son, he missed being able to have a normal routine - not that heâd ever had one, but the opportunity wouldâve been great. Still, he knew he wouldnât give up his job for anything - at least not beyond his son - but these moments, where Zehra would come home and remind him that despite all of that, she was still there... they pulled a smile to his lips.Â
âSomething like that,â He exhaled, a warm but sleepy smile rest on his lips even through tired eyes and sluggish movements as he peeled himself up from the child-sized bed, careful not to jostle . âCâmon, lets let him sleep...â he yawned, a gentle hand on her back as he tucked the laptop under his arm, âHow was your day? Are you hungry? We can order...â

heelsxncobblestonesâ:
Looking down to her children in their makeshift play room that was previously the formal living room, she spoke soft yet sternly to her 10 and 5 year old. âYou guys did really well last time Christopher came over to play, you both keep being good to him, heâs a good kid- as are you both.â Aubree couldnât tell if she was happier to have a friend for River or to see the childâs Father Eddie.
Hearing a knock on the door, River jumped up and bolted to answer âHiya Mr. Eddie! Hi Christopher!! Come on inside!â He spoke cheerfully, not even really acting different to the other child who was physically different- it did not phase River at all, Verona looking up from her drawing table and waved âHi!â Aubree barely could speak with the kids being excited, she walked over and smiled softly ââHey you, coffee?â
It wasnât until the door was opened and Eddie was looking up to be greeted by Aubree that he was reminded quite swiftly just how much he enjoyed seeing her. His life was non stop, between caring for his son and his job at the fire house, he barely had a chance to stop and breathe but those days at the coffee shop, where sheâd always greet him with a smile that wasnât faked or expectant... it was something heâd grown to appreciate more than he cared to admit.Â
âGod, coffee would be... amazing, yes, please.â He laughed, letting Christopher step in first, hovering behind him as he stepped over the threshold, âBut only if you let me make it for you. You make me enough coffee every other day of the week, itâs the least I can do.â And okay, maybe he shouldâve thought it through before essentially inviting himself to move around someone elses kitchen but... the thought was there, at least.

stagegooseâ:
âIâm kinda⊠used to hospital trips. Always have been.â Goose messes with the hem of their shirt until the other guy - Buck? - brings their bag. If they werenât in pain theyâd pounce on the bag and get what they need. Instead they gingerly pull it open and take out a small star shaped fidget. Fingers knead the object absently before Goose snaps back to reality at Eddieâs question. âY-yeah, if itâs not a super high dose. I donât - Iâd rather not be super drugged up.â
Ugh, an ambulance. Thinking about the noise and the jumpy drive is enough to overwhelm them. They mess with the fidget more, squishing it into different flattened shapes. Maybe the pain med will kick in soon and they wonât care about the trip as much. âIs⊠I-is it okay if i call my mom?â
Having a son with Cerebral Palsy meant that Eddie was particularly attuned to the needs of those who required a bit of extra TLC from time to time. Heâd known relatively early on in the conversation with Goose that staying as calm as possible was probably his best bet. The medical training helped with that too, sure, but nothing quite beat personal experience.
âYeah, of course. Tell you what, let me see what Iâve got...â He started, giving them a warm smile before turning to the bag and digging through, eyes flicking up to Goose on and off. They seemed nervous, if the fidget was anything to go by... âThereâs morphine. If I give you a low dose, itâll be enough to take the edge off âtil we get there, how about that? It could help settle nerves as well, if you need it. I personally hate ambulance rides, but thatâs just between you and me,â He admitted, voice taking on a more hushed tone, as though keeping a secret that couldnât be heard by any passer by, âAs for calling your mom, you most certainly can. You all good to go with your phone, or do you wanna use mine?â

âYou and I both know thatâs a lie. You need sleep, Eddie.â
Alex reached out, squeezing the otherâs shoulder.
âLet me see about a nurse to help out during the days. I know of some that have teaching degrees as well, so they can work to keep Christopherâs mind occupied. You do too much for this city to justâŠâ
He took a deep breath.
âEven Avengers sleep, Eddie. Even I sleep, though I know it doesnât seem like it. Especially lately.â
He ran a hand through his hair.
âHey, let me cook you something for dinner and then put you to bed.â
Sleep... Wasnât that a blissful dream. And oh god, wouldnât dreaming be an even better experience. Eddie couldnât remember the last time heâd dreamt anything that wasnât a nightmare. Sighing softly, he ran his hand over his face, rubbing at his eye to wake himself up. âIâll see if Carla can take more hours. Sheâs his... well, sheâs everything. And he has school, my shifts just donât... I donât see him as much as I want to.âÂ
He was wandering towards the kitchen as he spoke, the promise of food luring him in that direction, âNot that I donât appreciate the offer for a nurse. He just... he trusts her, you know? I mean, that kid trusts everyone, heâs a better person than I am for that, but he knows her. Anyway, youâre not cooking. Iâll order in.â And he knew that his thought processes werenât making a whole lot of sense but... sue him. He was tired.

@magnoliasfireâ
Eddie had just finished backing the last few bits and pieces into boxes at the firehouse - toys, gifts and other bits collected during their annual toy drive - when his eyes fell on someone wandering through the entrance. A quick look around told him no one else seemed to be paying that much attention and so... well, he supposed he could be polite. âUh, hi. Are you here for the toy drive? Weâre just packing up but Iâm sure we can take in a few more...â
#i feel like this is terrible oh my gosh but i hope this is okay!#sorry it took so long <3#magnoliasfire

âLook, if this could just... stay between us, thatâd be great,â Eddie found himself sighing. It hadnât been part of his oh-so-well-thought-out plan to see a familiar face at the damn cage fight, but what could he do now? He had no idea if his request would even be listened to, or whether heâd be walking into an almost literal warzone on his next shift if they chose to tell his captain about it. âI donât know what youâre doing here and frankly, Iâm not sure I care, but just... You never saw me here, alright?â
#hey thanks for liking!!#if this doesn't work let me know and I'll whip up something else :)#formerchcmp

@myuuzupunkâ
âAnd what if I donât want to talk about it? What then?â Eddie found himself asking, raising an eyebrow at the other. Heâd been accused of being closed off before, guarded even. He remembered one time someone even calling him emotionally stunted but so what if he didnât particularly enjoy talking about his feelings? And anyway, what was the point? It didnât make them any easier to deal with, âCanât we just drop it?â
