Based on the groups displayed at the cafeteria this morning, the assumption can be made that the new members of the Sacred Crown include the well reputable Lucien Fraser, son of Lachlan and an obvious Skorpios, and Tom Baxton. The addition of the unheard of Coyoterror is certainly an interesting choice and one we could not foretell. I am intrigued to see how this dynamic plays out, especially after the graduation of Damien Hemlock.

It comes at a shock that Damien’s younger brother Tobias did not pass initiation. Bad blood in the family, perhaps?

In other news, the school’s exciting clubs and societies begin from lunchtime today. This includes the Kore Buxton’s debate club, Edward Rowe’s study buddies society, and the tryouts for the world’s favourite magical sports Lunar Volley and Dragohoop. The tryout game for the Dragohoop team will be held at the court this afternoon in place of your period 5 lesson. Mr Roseberg encourages attendance to show your house pride, but participation in this event is optional.

Enialis Brightband’s party rocked Edgeford Academy last night. Clearly held at a privilege due to his familial relationship with our very own Mrs Brightband, Enialis set up a party in the gym last night where almost everybody showed their face and got a good chance to meet our first years.

A handful of students snuck a dip into the pool, but the real secret was the Sacred Crown initiation in the field. Having to keep my distance, I can unfortunately only report that there were six tryouts and that this year’s twisted game must have involved an outside toilet. We wait in anticipation to see which lucky Skorpios students make the cut for another year of their historic society, or perhaps we will see a different house slither in like the monumental addition of the Crowith Aidan Bourne.

Also, hope no one stepped in the vomit. It seemed to me that Skorpios prefect Nikolai Pavlov took good care for the sick student - such good care, in fact, that any boy from Skorpios could not sleep in their dorm that night.

Day 0 is in motion and the Academy is full of spirit once more, however there are some things to report from this spectacular new year already.

Notably, a first year caused the sorting cauldron to malfunction during the ceremony. The cloud produced was a stark white before simmering into the iconic Skorpios blue. Where have we seen that before? Rumour has it Fester Sterling, a current fourth year, had a similar experience. Perhaps it’s a tradition for high society to be divergent.

It would be a poor job of me not to report the upcoming party planned by first year Coyoterror Enialis Brightband to take place at the Gym this very evening. Sudden? Yes, but one can only be impressed by his quick entry into Edgeford’s society.

The annual Advocates of the Sacred Crown initiation is also rumoured to take place early next morning. Who will be the next to enter the prestigious and historic club?

On Friday the 21st, Edgeford Academy’s annual Sweetheart’s Ball will be hosted once more with festivities leading up to it. It is bound to be a magical and romantic first week back. Start picking out your outfits now, mages (and maybe consider those date proposals...)

For those staying at home for summer, we are all excited to welcome you back and catch you up to speed on the events of the season.

Shockingly (jokes) some of you might not know me! I am a Skorpios starting my third year at Edgeford with a special talent in literature and art. What makes me a Skorpios then? My skill to decipher the best blooming stories from the heart of the source. You can count on me to find gossip where there is any, as well as to do my duty of advertising Edgeford’s academic and social events this term.

The staff and prefects at Edgeford Academy are happy to reveal the name you’ve all been witiching to know! This year’s head journalist for Warlock & Key will be none other than... Murdoc Miller!
