FOR UNCLE SAM
THE DISPUTE
South China sea dispute has been one of the longest prevailing disputes, going on since 1930s. The three and a half million square kilometers water strip is one of the world’s busiest shipping routes and has large oil and natural gas reserves under it. The dispute revolves around territorial claims to some islands in the sea, claims to which give a country control over the sea and its trade routes. The islands are also claimed by various neighboring states apart from China, namely Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan and Brunei. China has been aggressively claiming territory over the area using military might and is building military establishments on these islands. The United States government has voiced its concern over the dispute saying, “China is advancing far too east, far too fast.” All international efforts including trials in the International Law Tribunal at Hague have failed to solve a dispute. United States frequently patrols the area and conducts military drills in the area alongside its allies, specially Philippines. The Chinese accuse the United States of “unnecessarily increasing military tensions in the area.” Military tensions in the area rise day by day.
THE CRISIS
A group United States merchant navy ships were bringing shipments from the US to the Philippines. They happened to use an alternate trade route, one nearing China’s controlled Spartly islands for the transport. The Chinese navy open fired on these ships resulting in heavy causalities where 23 officers are reported to be dead apart from monetary losses. The ships have been seized. The United States is Antagonized at the issue.
TASK AT HAND
You, as the commander of the US Navy seventh fleet are instructed by the white house to retaliate and make
China pay. Though, they don’t want the retaliation to be on a scale which incites war.

ALL WORK NO PLAY
It is often noted that the productivity of an employee is greatly maximised by his surrounding environment. The environment that the employee works in has a direct impact on his motivation, his work ethic, stress and commitment to the organisation. Google has been known of being a pioneer at leveraging the work environment to improve employee productivity.
Swiggy has grown from being a small start up to being one of the foremost technology companies in India. In order for Swiggy to grow and compete against global giants, it must not only recruit the best talent but it must provide them with the best work environment to ensure maximum productivity, minimal attrition and a strong commitment from the employee towards the organization. Add to that major financial backing in the likes of Softbank, and you have the wiggle room to create something memorable.
Devise the workplace for a new corporate office for Swiggy that would house 400 employees.
You are required to devise:
The different sections of the office
The bifurcations for employees on the basis of seniority and the general work environment
The benefits that employees get as perks at the office
Additional features offered for productivity, leisure and relaxation
Note: Be creative. Think about the kind of office that you would like to work in.

SHARING IS CARING!
Tumblr media
With the entire global scenario shifting towards sustainability due to the rapid depletion of resources, entrepreneurs have to think of ways to create more by using less- sharing. Sharing of resources, in any form, land-labor-capital-enterprise seems like the way to go in the future.
The Sharing Economy is a socio-economic ecosystem built around the sharing of human, physical and intellectual resources. It includes the shared creation, production, distribution, trade and consumption of goods and services by different people and different organizations.
Whilst the Sharing Economy is currently in its infancy, known most notably as a series of services and start-ups which enable P2P exchanges through technology, this is only the beginning: in its entirety and potential it is a new and alternative socio-economic system which embeds sharing and collaboration.
For Example:
Uber connects drivers offering rides and passengers seeking them online. Potential passengers download an app that allows them to request the nearest available Uber car on their smartphone. The company does not own cars, but signs up private drivers willing to provide rides to paying passengers and passes the ride requests directly to them. 70-80% of each fare goes to the driver and the rest is kept by Uber. Such an economic model is follows a shared economy system where both companies combine and share their resources and expertise to be mutually beneficial.

TASK IN HAND:
You have to extend this Shared Economy to any existing business venture which could share resources. Remember, the Shared Economy concept is beneficial to both parties involved and its unsaid that your idea should be unique and not preexisting.
The sectors to choose from are-
1. Agriculture
2. Pharmaceutical
3. Food
4. Housing and Construction
5. Retail
6. Telecommunication
DELIVERABLE:
1. 20 page report explaining your business model with the feasibility, operational plan, marketing, financial structure etc.
2. A 7 slide ppt of the same for the stage

One of the adverse trends observable in the corporate private and public sector of India is the growing incidence of sickness. It is causing considerable concern to planners and policymakers. It is also putting a severe strain on the economic system, particularly on the banks.
There are various criteria of sickness. According to the criteria accepted by the Reserve Bank of India “a sick unit is one which has reported cash loss for the year of its operation and in the judgment of the financing bank is likely to incur cash loss for the current year as also in the following year.”
Following is the list of the mobile phone brands of India which can be termed as a sick unit: 1. Micromax Informatics 2. Lava International 3. Spice Telecom 4. Karbonn Mobile 5. Intex Technologies 6. I-Ball Mobile 7. Celkon These companies have been a victim of technology revolution and heavy influence from the entry of green and blue brands from Chinese Market which includes One Plus, Oppo, Vivo, Lenovo, and Huawei. Above mentioned Indian Companies, have almost lost their presence in such a versatile market from everywhere to nowhere.

ON THE RIGHT TRACK
Tumblr media
This very year itself the Indian Railways went private and accordingly has planned to give tenders.
Taking example of-The Maharajas' Express is a luxury tourist train owned and operated by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation. It runs on 4 circuits covering more than 12 destinations across North-West and Central India, mainly centred on Rajasthan between the months of October
and April. The Maharajas' Express was voted "The World's Leading Luxury Train".
While this theme may not target the mass, it does bring celebrities and also a sense of royal tourism to the country. While the monetary benefit to the railways is less, it does have a great deal of non financial benefit.
The government is planning to introduce to introduce another such theme based train in India ,
to attract tourists and popularise the culture , diversity and tradition of India
TASK IN HAND:
Your task as an entrepreneur is to come up with a theme based train.
Examples- State wise decoration , moving circus , zoo etc ) , state the reasons for the same and convince the government to give you the tender.
You also have to decide the route through which the train will travel and why the theme you chose is best possible for that route. Remember to keep your idea feasible. Remember what benefits and promotes India and the employees will get the tender.
You are pitching to the board that gives the tender and all of you are private contractors. [ Piece of Advice- Make sure to point out flaws in other themes that we don’t point, the strongest member survives]

THE SILKY WAY
Tumblr media
The Silk Road was a network of trade routes between East and West and was at the center of the economic, cultural, political and religious interactions between these regions from the 2nd century BC until the 18th century. The Silk Road mainly refers to land routes connecting East Asia and Southeast Asia with South Asia, Persia, the Arabian Peninsula, South Africa, and India connecting Eastern and Southern Europe. The Chinese were very concerned about the safety of their trade products and expanded the Great Wall of China to protect the trade route. Silk Road trade played an important role in the development of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian subcontinent, Iran, Europe, Horn of Africa and Arabia civilizations, which opened political relations and economic distance between civilizations. Although silk was the most important commercial product exported from China, many other products and ideas were exchanged, including religions (including Buddhism), syncretic philosophies, science and technology such as paper and gunpowder. In addition to economic trade, the Silk Road was thus a cultural trade route between the civilizations of its network. Diseases, including the plague, have also spread along the Silk Road.
The Silk Road had several routes, divided into north and south streets, the Intercontinental Earth Silk Road stretched west of China's former trading centers, bypassing the Taklamakan Desert and Lop Nur. Traders on these roads took part in a "relaying trade" where the goods changed ownership several times before reaching their final destination.
Silk Route trade became increasingly popular with European merchants from the thirteenth century onwards. The Route’s very nature changed as navigators found ways of trading directly with producers in the Far East, cutting out the ‘middlemen’ of merchants who had traversed different parts of Central Asia. As Europe came to dominate trade in the nineteenth century, the traditional form of Silk Road trade was replaced by new methods and technologies, transforming international commerce from east to west.
In the early 10th century, following the fall of the Tang Dynasty, the trade on the Silk Road saw a deathblow. The trade on the silk road declined quickly. After the great geographical discoveries in the late 15th and the early 16th centuries the intercontinental overland trade routes fell into decay. There were a few difficulties of traveling on the Silk Road. First, the geography of the route was sometimes difficult. Animals could slip of cliffs, and mountain passages were very narrow and dangerous to pass through. The Pamir Mountain passage area is called the trail of bones because of the many people who died there. Next, people had to travel through the Syrian desert were they came face to face with tigers, lions, and scorpions. The speed of the sea transportation, the possibility to carry more goods, relative cheapness of transportation resulted in the decline of the Silk Road in the end of the 15th century. The Chinese who traveled also faced sandstorms and mirages in their travels. Also sometimes people would be attacked by bandits. This is because travelers on the Silk Road were an easy target and their carriages were filled with money and other goods. Overall, travelers faced death threatening dangers while traveling along the silk road and there were cheaper and more efficient means of transport evolving. The silk road, which had been active for more than 2500 years, was the lifeline of China's ancient civilization. But for all of the above reasons, it depressed eventually and disappeared in the long river of history.
TASK IN HAND:
You as a trade giant have decided that land trade route to the West has to be reestablished and have to come up with a new route to replace the silk route. You also have to ensure that the new route being established does not have any of these issues that may lead to its decline by giving out strategies to make the route secure avoiding possibilities of theft or danger to life or property.
DELIVERABLES:
Your b-plan (not less than 15 pages) must include the following must may not be restricted to:
Executive Summary
Proposed route
Operational items (traded items)
Implementation Plan
Location Analysis
Legal Requirements
Marketing Plan (SWOT, PESTEL, conventional, unconventional)

LET’S JOIN HANDS

While Suzuki will supply its Baleno and Vitara Brezza to Toyota, it will source Toyota’s Corolla and sell it through Maruti Suzuki dealerships. This is a classic example of Cross- Badging in the Automobile Industry.
Details on each model, such as the schedule of the start of supply, number of supplied units, vehicle specifications, and supply pricing, will be considered at a later stage. The coming together of Toyota, the world’s largest automobile company, and Suzuki, which dominates the Indian market, underlines the importance of the local passenger vehicle market that is expected to triple to 9.4 million units by 2026 from 3.2 million now if the economy grows at an average rate of 5.8% a year.
TASK AT HAND:
You are required to come up with a similar co-brand campaign and push the products into the market. As wise entrepreneurs you are required to capitalize on each of the company’s strengths, resources, production facilities, product development units and strategize a plan to grow as complementary brands to each other’s mission.
DELIVERABLES:
1) Product or Services of the companies which would be Cross-Badged
2) Benefits and leverage to both the brands.
3) MarketingStrategies
4) Resource Allocation of both the companies in the process

101: CHASING RED
Tumblr media
Emergency services and rescue services are organisations which ensure public safety and health by addressing different emergencies. Some of these agencies exist solely for addressing certain types of emergencies whilst others deal with ad-hoc emergencies as part of their normal responsibilities.
There are two primarily emergency services that can be summoned directly by the public: Fire  Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
With more than 100,000 road traffic related deaths, 98.5% ‘ambulance runs’ transporting dead bodies, 90% of ambulances without any equipment/oxygen, 95% of ambulances having untrained personnel, most ED doctors having no formal training in EMS, misuse of government ambulances and 30% mortality due to delay in emergency care, India portrays a mirror image of the U.S. of the 1960s. Although these numbers are reducing over the past half decade, the improvement rate is as slow as the ambulances and services available.
Although India has the fastest growing population and an ambitious growth aspiration, it’s always had a disproportionately small health budget, with one doctor for every 1,700 people and 21% of the world’s burden of disease.
Almost 23% of all trauma that occurs in India is transportation-related, with 1,374 accidents and 400 deaths taking place every day on Indian roads.
Out of every one million people, 42,800 die every year from sudden cardiac arrest in India.6 India also has the highest snakebite mortality in the world, with the World Health Organization estimating it at 30,000 every year.
Even with such staggering numbers and a hefty allocation in the federal budget, these services have been quiet inefficient in our country due to the lack of appropriate infrastructure, corruption and no public support. There is no meaning of such services if they do not reach out to the needy on time without delay.
Various issues cause delays and inefficiency in the services like bad roads, traffic, ignorant public, illiteracy, unavailability of hotline to name a few.
TASK IN HAND:
You as an entrepreneur have to create such an infrastructure or strategy which enhances the quality of such emergency services in the country, their availability and their convenience.
You may renew the existing infrastructure or create a completely new one, which shall abide by all the laws in the country.
DELIVERABLES:
A report of about 15 pages containing the following:
Executive Summary
Operational plan
Phase- wise Implementation Plan
Legal requirements
Market Analysis (must include SWOT, STP Analysis)
PR Strategies (Awareness Program Strategies)
Human Resource Plan
Detailed Financials (Sources of Fund, Allocation of funds, Break-even, Return on Investment)

Comedy is a very important part of human life has it has infinite benefits. However, the benefits of comedy itself are not much as most of its benefits come from laughs that come with it. Since the most important element of comedy is laughter, the benefits of regular laughter cannot be separated from comedy. One major benefit of comedy is that it aids euphemism.
