Hence, maximum time and energy should be given on these sections. Whereas, Mathematics is of 20 marks only i.e., 10% of total. So, wasting unnecessary time on mathematics could hamper the selection.
Major Focus Area: Legal Aptitude – First and foremost importance should be given to Legal Aptitude, since it is not taught in schools but has major portion in CLAT and other related exams. If last 5-10 years of exams are considered major focus is on – Criminal Law, Law of Tort, Indian Constitution and Contract Law. Hence, it is important to focus on developing good understanding of these 4 areas along with basic reading of other parts of syllabus.
General Knowledge and Current Affairs – Regular reading of one newspaper is very helpful along with one or two magazines which are to be followed religiously. Certain current sections like sports, literature, science, economy, awards, days & events and UN bodies are very important and should be focused upon. Indian Constitution and judiciary awareness is very necessary.
Mock Tests for CLAT – Most important strategy is to do mock tests and that too minimum one per day. Tests should be attempted after 80% of syllabus preparation at least. Hence, best time to start mock tests is after board exams and 1-1.5 months prior to CLAT exam.
