Some of the complaints around The Nice Guy is that it's all over the place with genre and doesn't know what it wants to be. But even with only 2 episodes it's pretty clear that the different ways it's playing with genre reflect different parts of Seok Cheol's life. His gangster job gets the dark grittiness (that people assumed would be the whole show I guess), his romance is more drama/melo/slice of life, and his family is more comedy/drama (especially the interactions with his siblings). Personally I think this makes for a great balanced story, it isn't bogged down, and the lighter moments provide levity to the story. Seok Cheol interacts with the different people in his life in different ways and that makes perfect sense and give us a fleshed out character who isn't just a flat one-note personality.
