update, I guess, for anyone wondering: the last two years have been crazy. I got kicked out of my house, moved states, and got a full-time job that I actually love, and I live in a very full house now which has all been a major adjustment. My language studies fell to the wayside pretty much immediately, but I want to pick them back up again.
