no but it's the way it took him SECONDS to catch up to her. uuggghhhh (yam yam yam).

his eyes are like... dead the entire movie. even when he's playing the nice guy or when he's killing people, there's nothing but emptiness there (the only time they are normal is when the plot twist is revealed at the very end); kim nam gil, he actor that you are!

about van and island in general! TWINS! because it also took me time to finally GET IT. probably because it was all out and the story feels finished.

don't watch island for the plot, watch it for pretty people being pretty and serving looks (while suffering immensely)!

did i watch ten kdramas and manage to develop an absolutely ungodly crush on kim nam gil? HELL FUCKING YEAH!

(i mean how can you not? his filmography is PERFECT. his vibe is perfect. his voice is perfect. how the fuck not????????)

the decision to give island a second chance was THE RIGHT ONE!

because after island there were:

'memoir of a murderer' (if an unreliable narrator trope was a movie, it would be this one + kim nam gil playing a serial killer and killing it (figuratively and literally)? yes thank you);

'throught the darkness' (his best hair, it suits him so much, my favorite look + he talks a lot, and (unlike in fiery priest) his voice is very soft there + plus the plot is very interesting on its own, it's a classic investigative crime thriller, and i love those with all my heart);

'the fiery priest' (hi sung joon long time no see! second season was just an island modern!au in my head, which made every scene between them like ten times funnier);

and 'karma' (what a guest appearance! what a plot twist! 10/10 kdrama on its own, he just made it 12/10).

jesus fucking christ this man knows how to pick his scripts!

and there were also: revenant, mercy for none, shark the storm, vigilante, the trauma code: heroes on call and light shop.

we have horror, we have action, we have comedy, we have KTRAUMA.

all also 10/10.

@energycurrency if i had to pick my favorites, ttd and moam would both share the first place. funny because the characters are complete opposites of each other, down to being a serial killer/a guy who catches serial killers (oh my god, imagine that crossover, would be the worst day in song ha yeung career for real for real).

i watched moam right after island and it was my OH WAIT KIM NAM GIL CAN ACT ACT moment (now that i'm familiar with his acting,i see all those subtle things he put into van, but on the first watch van can appear a bit monotonous if you don't know where to look).

it's a shame that moam is very underrated because outside of being an amazing movie on its own, kng is so insanely good there. he was so deliciously creepy and unsettling and all types of scary, from a subtle look in his eyes to OH SHIT GIRL RUN HE'S GONNA KILL YOU!

and i also realised that kng is TALL and has LEGS. that chase scene in the woods? haven't rooted for the girl to get away since i saw wi ha joon in midnight running after jin ke joo (if you haven't watched it, please do, you will love it! serial killer fooling cops and civilians with the power of his acting and charms while also being scary as all hell when in killer mode, where have i seen that before lol?).

back to kng. ttd would be my fave because song ha yeung is precious and must be protected at all costs! that's it. i just want to hold him very gently in the palms of my hands and make sure that nothing bad ever happens to him.
