Is Effy Giraffe Releasing a New Single Called ‘Red’? Clues Point to Yes.

Effy Giraffe fans, it might be time to mark your calendars.
Rumors are swirling after a song titled “Red” was quietly registered for release on May 23rd, leading fans to speculate that a new single from the enigmatic indie artist is just around the corner. Even more convincing? A Bandcamp listing has surfaced featuring official single artwork and a pre-order link, strongly suggesting that “Red” is not just a rumor—it’s real, and it’s coming fast.
You can view the listing here: Effy Giraffe – Red on Bandcamp
If confirmed, “Red” would be the second official single from what many are calling Effy Giraffe’s “dark era,” following the brooding, critically buzzed-about “Darkness Inside of Me” which dropped on January 1, 2025. That release marked a major shift in tone and aesthetic for the artist—trading in her earlier whimsical alt-pop sound for something more raw, introspective, and emotionally layered.
The newly revealed artwork for “Red” seems to deepen that trajectory. It’s stark and moody, awash in rich crimson tones with a haunting atmosphere that begs the question: is Effy about to go even darker?
There’s been no official confirmation from Effy Giraffe or her team yet—but the signs are all there. For an artist who typically teases releases with cryptic visuals and subtle drops, this sudden registration and pre-order page feel like a strategic breadcrumb trail for fans to follow.
Whether “Red” is a standalone track or part of a larger body of work remains to be seen. But one thing’s clear—Effy Giraffe isn’t done exploring the shadows just yet.
UPDATE 5/25: Effy Giraffe tweets new Forever Animals single releases this week — titled ‘Red’

Apparently is was expected as a Effy Giraffe single, but Red has been transformed for her group Forever Animals. She explains:

While Red (Effy Giraffe’s solo edition) is still listed on her Bandcamp, it is well past the release date set. This could be an oversight as the artist doesn’t usually use Bandcamp to distribute her work.
We reached out to Effy for a comment, she did decline. Many close to her expect her to release the solo version as well—though we’re unable to confirm at this time.

Effy Giraffe Teases a New Chapter with “Darkness Inside Of Me” and the Birth of Forever Animals

On January 1, 2025, Effy Giraffe kicked off the year by dropping “Darkness Inside Of Me,” a haunting, raw track that had fans speculating about the long-awaited “dark era” the enigmatic artist has alluded to in cryptic posts over the last two years. Billed as her most emotionally intense work yet, the single immediately stirred conversation—not just for its content, but for what it might signal. However, after the initial drop, Effy seemingly went silent on plans for a full album or a follow-up single. Until now.
A storm of developments in the past week has reignited anticipation around Effy’s next move—and it’s bigger than anyone expected.
In a candid tweet last week, Effy shared some unexpected insight into the track’s origins. “I wrote and even had a rough demo for Darkness Inside Of Me in 2022/2023,” she revealed. “It was actually a track I worked on before End Of Everything. Almost gave it to another artist under DK. They actually finished the song and I didn’t like the direction they went with it and halted release.”
The tweet alone sparked discussion, but it didn’t stop there. Effy later retweeted it, adding, “This actually inspired us to do something major. You guys are not ready for what I have in store for you.” Then, without warning, she changed her X (formerly Twitter) profile photo to a stark black-and-white image bearing only the title Darkness Inside Of Me—a signal that the track was far from finished.
On May 15, Effy confirmed fan suspicions with a bold announcement: “Darkness Inside Of Me isn’t over yet. In fact, the song is getting a second life!! This Friday experience a new version of Darkness Inside Of Me. Featuring me!”
While the new version of “Darkness Inside Of Me” is set to release on Friday, May 16, the most explosive part of the announcement may not be the song itself—but the emergence of a mysterious new act called Forever Animals. According to an insider familiar with the project, not only is Effy featured on the upcoming track—she is actually a member of this newly-formed group.
Effy Giraffe Productions recently signed Forever Animals, whose X account has quietly begun posting cryptic teasers. Their bio states, “Effy Giraffe presents a brand new venture: Forever Animals.” Their only post so far simply reads: “We are coming.”
It’s a vague but thrilling revelation. For longtime fans of Effy, the possibility that she’s launching a new collective—or even a band—is nothing short of seismic.
Insiders tell us that the material Effy had written for her “dark album” became too emotionally heavy to complete under her solo moniker. “It got really dark and she wanted to start something outside of her Effy Giraffe brand,” the source explained. “This wasn’t just music—it was therapy, and it eventually became too personal to release in the way she originally intended.”
That might explain the sudden pivot. Instead of shelving the work entirely, Effy appears to be reinventing it—collaborating with others, transforming her solo pain into something collective and maybe even communal. While it remains unclear exactly who else is in Forever Animals, or what their full sound will be, Effy’s involvement lends the project an immediate depth and credibility.
What Comes Next?
This Friday’s release will offer the first real taste of Forever Animals—and of Effy Giraffe’s next chapter. Whether the new version of “Darkness Inside Of Me” is a remix, a reimagining, or a cover remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: it’s more than a song. It’s a signal.
Between cryptic tweets, social media rebrands, and whispers of a deeply personal healing journey, it’s clear Effy Giraffe isn’t just launching a side project—she’s reshaping her entire artistic identity.
As she herself put it: “You guys are not ready for what I have in store for you.”
We’re beginning to believe her.
“Darkness Inside Of Me (Feat. Effy Giraffe)” by Forever Animals drops Friday, May 16, 2025.

Take It Slow Released February 21st — Fans Speculate “Darkness Inside Of Me” Follow Up Will Drop SOON

Is Effy Giraffe Prepping for Her Next Single? Fans Speculate After Surprise Remix Album Drop. Effy Giraffe has always kept fans on their toes, and 2025 is proving to be no exception. After the release of her hauntingly powerful single “Darkness Inside Of Me” on January 1st, fans were eagerly anticipating the next installment in what is being dubbed her “Darkness” era. Yet, the sudden release of her slow + reverb remix album Take It Slow on February 21, 2025, has sparked speculation that Effy might be gearing up for her next major single.
The Unexpected Remix Drop
Originally slated for an April 18, 2025 release, Take It Slow seemed, at first, like a strategic move to maintain momentum between singles. Many fans viewed it as a filler—an atmospheric exploration meant to bridge the gap between “Darkness Inside Of Me” and her still-unannounced second single. Yet, the decision to drop the remix album nearly two months ahead of schedule has left fans questioning Effy’s next move.
A Strategic Distraction or a Prelude?
Effy Giraffe is no stranger to unpredictable rollouts. The decision to release the remix album early could be seen as a calculated distraction, allowing her to secretly prepare for a more significant release. Alternatively, it could be a prelude, setting the stage for a darker, more intense follow-up single.
Social media has been buzzing with theories. Some fans believe that the ethereal, slowed-down remixes are a deliberate teaser, building anticipation for a thematically connected single. Others speculate that Effy is playing with the notion of time—stretching out emotions in the remixes while readying a fast-paced, emotional punch with her next track.
Additionally, die-hard fans noticed that the final track on the remix album ends on an unresolved note, fading out with an eerie, echoing synth that bears no resemblance to any melody from her existing discography. Could this be a teaser for her next single?
The Unnamed Album of 2025: What We Know So Far
Effy has been tight-lipped about her upcoming album, with no official title or release date revealed. However, insiders close to the artist have hinted that the project delves deep into themes of identity, self-discovery, and the human psyche. If “Darkness Inside Of Me” was just the beginning, the second single could be the key to unlocking the album’s full narrative arc.
Speculation is rampant, with some fans suggesting the album might be called “Into the Abyss,” a title that was briefly visible on Effy’s official website before mysteriously disappearing. Whether this was a genuine leak or just a red herring remains to be seen.
What’s Next?
With the unexpected early release of Take It Slow, all eyes are on Effy Giraffe as fans eagerly await her next move. Will she drop her second single as a surprise release, or will she build up anticipation with cryptic teases and strategic social media drops?
If history is any indication, Effy won’t follow a predictable playbook. As the queen of mystery and master of emotional storytelling, her next single is bound to be as captivating as it is unexpected.
One thing’s for sure—Effy Giraffe knows how to keep us guessing. And we’ll be here, hanging on her every word, note, and shadow until the light finally breaks through.
Stay tuned for more updates as the “Darkness” era continues to unfold.

Effy Giraffe Releasing New Album This Spring, Pre-Order Available This Week

Effy Giraffe is set to release a new album titled Take It Slow, which will be releasing April 18, 2025. The album has yet to be officially announced, but Effy did tease a compilation release was on the way:

The project will apparently be a compilation of tracks, but certainly not another greatest hits release. Effy tells us:
The official announcement will come later this week. It won't be a unreleased track album. Not a greatest hits album. While reviewing my stats I noticed a trend in certain songs and want to build off of that with this release. It's a fun little side project that I hope you enjoy! It won't release until this spring, but it'll be fun!
The album cover was actually leaked, as the album was submitted to streaming stores earlier today with a pre-order date set for later this week. The tracklist was censored but does contain 16 songs.
Effy also revealed to us an official announcement will come on her official X, we will of course be making a post once her announcement has been made public.

The Numbers: Effy Giraffe Spotify Hits
Effy Giraffe has been breaking down all of her hits based on streaming data from various different platforms. Recently, she has been posting exclusively on X breaking down all of the data! So of course, we're reporting it here too! Let's start today with the Spotify hits!
Albums/EPs:
01. Out Of This World (2014)

It's no shock Out Of This World has been Effy Giraffe's most successful release to date. For not even a week the album returned to streaming platforms and Spotify numbers are truly phenomenal for an album that was released over a decade ago.
Most popular of course is her single In My Arms, which was a collaboration with Dubstep. Other singles from the album gained quite a bit of traction. Singles So Hot and Ripped My Heart Out both received Streamy Award Fan Nominations -- although she didn't make it as a finalist the nomination stand as her first ever. Since being re-distributed to streaming, title track Out Of This World has begun to take off like never before.
The re-distribution was certainly a calculated move, but it has certainly paid off as fans have been streaming it heavily since its return!
02. The Greatest: The Complete Hits Collection (2015)

It's not a shock The Greatest: The Complete Hits Collection would be so high up on Effy's spotify streaming charts. When the original Out Of This World release was wiped from streaming, many fans of In My Arms still had the ability to listen to it on this compilation release. Other songs like I Love Charles Manson, Out Of My Head, Kisses Down Low, Made of Money and Robot Slut all saw success on the platform. Made of Money was Effy's only single to do well off of EFFY in 2014. The single isn't actually available on the re-distributed version she pushed out last year, so many still flock to this album to enjoy it.
03. Fun With A Nun (2013)

Early Effy releases thrived on controversy, and 2013 release Fun With A Nun certainly aimed to be controversial. The title track was the albums lead single and certainly got a lot of people talking. Then All Lies followed, though not as an official single. The album further explored controversy with singles including Sex With My Ex and Lost My Religion -- the latter being the album's most popular track which actually features Kevy K, who Effy reunited with just last year on End of the Beginning song Tonight.
04. Cigarettes & Sex (2013)

Effy has been known to release new year singles, and she kicked off 2013 with One Night Stand, a song that remains a very popular one off of her album Cigarettes & Sex. The album featured singles like Sweet Satan and a re-recorded version of I Slept With A Priest, which continued Effy's aim to create controversial releases. Cigarettes & Sex was actually one album of a trilogy she titled Sex III. The trilogy consisted of Sex Drugs and Prostitution, Cigarettes & Sex, and Cigarettes & Sex: The Complete Intimacy.
05. Darkness Inside Of Me (2025)
2013-2015 seem to be years Effy Giraffe's Spotify fans focus on when revisiting her work. That hasn't stopped Effy for making a comeback in 2022 and onward. In 2025, Effy Giraffe debut her new era. The first single was titled Darkness Inside Of Me that kicked off the new year. Then, a week later Effy released an EP titled Darkness Inside Of Me: Immortal Echoes. The EP featured an extended version, which included a previously cut intro that her producers thought may have been "too dark" for the original single release. The EP also features a remix and slow+reverb version of the single. It's doing pretty well on Spotify, actually surpassing her Beginning of the End (2023) and End of the Beginning (2024) numbers. With her lead single of 2025 doing so well under her brand new self made label Effy Giraffe Productions, one can hope her 2025 album will become her best yet.
Singles:
01. In My Arms (2014)
As if there were ever any doubts, In My Arms has dominated Effy Giraffe's Spotify numbers since the single release in April of 2014. The song was the first collaboration between Effy and Dubstep. As you know, they reunited for her 2025 release Darkness Inside Of Me. Which is certainly a much different song in comparison to this. The song truly captures the sound of Out Of This World (2014) and will always seem to remain a fan favorite.
02. I'm Alive (2019)
Effy's true comeback release was actually a single titled I'm Alive. The song made it's debut in 2019 and was the first to dive into a synthwave sound. The release was truly an experiment but also therapeutic as it was an emotional song she wrote about something she was experiencing at the time. Plans to re-record the single for her 2023 come back album never panned out, but the 2019 still remains a fan favorite.
03. I Love Charles Manson (2015)
I Love Charles Manson was a single Effy released to promote The Greatest: The Complete Hits Collection. It became quite a controversial track, many calling it disrespectful. The controversy lead to quite a lot of streams at the time, cementing a true legacy when it comes to Spotify numbers.
04. Out Of This World (2014)
Out of this World technically wasn't an official single from the album, though it later became a promotional single that took off. The single features her daughter Lil G, who also did background vocals on most of the songs on the album. This release specifically was marketed without her listed as a feature, which lead to some controversy between the two -- who actually stopped speaking for a few years because of the exclusion. Effy has since made sure to credit Lil G on the album with the most recent redistribution as well as list her as a background vocalist on most of the songs.
04. Lost My Religion (2014)

Unexpectedly, Lost My Religion became quite a popular song on Spotify for Effy. The single, from Fun With A Nun (2013), featured Kevy K, and helped cement this album as one of her top 5 on Spotify.
That covers the Spotify hits! Effy has yet to put together other streaming data, but we'll break more down when more is available!
Stay tuned.

Rumor: Out Of This World Returning To Streaming, The Pull Out Was All A Tactic

A new album has been submitted to streaming stores earlier today under Effy Giraffe Productions, Effy's brand new label. Out Of This World, with a brand new cover (pictured above). The album was pulled from streaming last year due to an apparent legal dispute between Michael Light, who claimed was uncredited and unpaid for his contributions to her most popular release to date. The producer allegedly had the album pulled and both parties were unable to reach a settlement.
On paper, it would appear the two settled their dispute. The submitted release, featuring 20 songs, lists Light as a producer on every song as well as a lyricist-- which one could possibly assume was a condition of the album re-release. Though, an insider revealed to us there was never any legal dispute. They claim:
Effy's apparent legal dispute with Michael was all a business tactic. The album initially released under SD Records; DK Records then bought out all of Effy's prior releases in 2018 exclusively releasing them all on Spotify. The re-releases were a part of a contract Effy signed with them, it detailed they'd make 75% of profits from her old releases, which hurt Effy seeing as Out Of This World was always her most popular release. So she saw very little profit. Her solution, starting her own label - which made its debut this year Effy Giraffe Productions. Then finally creating controversy that forced DK Records to drop the release from their catalog. In doing so she was able to retain control of the album and re-release it under her own label -- keeping 100% of feature profits. This is also why Effy still proceeded to release End Of This World, an album still under DK Records but a part of a deal she benefitted from due to contract negations last year. This was all a business tactic that worked out for her in the end.
If true, we could possibly be seeing the return of Out Of This World this year and SOON as we're starting to see the album was submitted to iTunes/Apple Music, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Deezer, and Tidal stores so far. The submitted release features new artwork, but it's important to note this wasn't submitted as a 2025 special edition or re-release, instead it still holds onto the same 2014 release date. The tracklist still consists of 20 tracks, though one difference:
01. Aliens 02. Not A Nun 03. Back In 69 04. In My Arms 05. Love You Tonight 06. Whips & Chains (Nail Me Right) 07. Out Of This World 08. Don't Leave Me Alone 09. One Night Stand 10. Broke My Heart 11. Dumb Blonde 12. Go Wild 13. So Hot 14. Ripped My Heart Out 15. Don't Wanna Stop 16. Let Me Go 17. Let Me See 18. They're Watching 19. Never Going Back 20. All Lies
Her cover of I'm Free was removed, originally it was the albums 10th track, this time Broke My Heart is in it's place (which was a droplet single released in 2018).
As of right now nothing is confirmed. We can confirm we've seen the submission to digital stores, and we were only able to acquire an unofficial statement from an inside source. Effy has not reached out to us for a comment and has been MIA on social media since the release of Darkness Inside Of Me: Immortal Echoes. We'd imagine confirmation will be evident after making this article public.
Since it's one of her most popular releases, hopefully it's true as this is such a smart way to do it!

Effy Giraffe Teases Concept Album Exploring Mental Health and Identity

Effy Giraffe, the enigmatic artist known for her genre shifting hits for a decade and a half, has quietly revealed the conceptual framework for her upcoming album, set to drop sometime in 2025. While fans are eagerly anticipating new music, Effy remains intentionally tight-lipped about specifics, including the album’s title and tracklist. However, she has shared enough to give us a glimpse into what promises to be her most ambitious and deeply experimental project yet.
The yet-untitled album is described as a “journey through the fragmented psyche of an unnamed protagonist.” Effy, who is known for weaving narratives through her music, has crafted a story that follows a young woman’s mental breakdown and eventual recovery. The protagonist struggles with identity, often referring to herself by different names and personas as she loses touch with reality. Through the album, listeners are invited to experience her confusion, despair, and moments of clarity, creating a hauntingly immersive exploration of mental health.
The Concept
In her more recent projects, Effy has been no stranger to themes of self-discovery and resilience, but this project takes those ideas to a new level. The story begins with chaos—clips of distorted audio, news reports, and disjointed phrases that set the tone for the protagonist’s unraveling. As the album progresses, listeners will be pulled into her disoriented mind, where reality and delusion blur, and her sense of self becomes fragmented.
The narrative arc traces her descent into darkness, her fight to confront the void within herself, and ultimately, her determination to piece her identity back together. Effy has hinted that the album culminates in an empowering resolution, though it doesn’t shy away from the complexity and non-linear nature of recovery.
Sound and Atmosphere
Effy’s music has always been characterized as unserious, often times playing into a sex-driven dumb blonde persona. In recent projects she’s conveyed raw emotion, and this album will take said emotions and build a whole story. Drawing from a blend of haunting melodies, layered vocals, and experimental soundscapes, the record seeks to mirror the protagonist’s inner turmoil. Static, whispers, and overlapping voices are expected to feature prominently, creating a sense of claustrophobia and chaos.
As the story progresses, the sound evolves to reflect the protagonist’s changing state of mind. Fans can expect a shift from dissonance to moments of clarity and light, offering a cathartic release as the protagonist reclaims her sense of self.
A Personal Undertaking
Effy has shared that the inspiration for the album comes from the serious unaddressed issues of mental health, identity, and violence in America.
“This is a story about survival, about what it means to lose yourself and fight to find your way back,” she explained in a recent interview. “It’s not pretty, and it’s not linear. Recovery is messy, but it’s also beautiful.”
Though Effy hasn’t shared whether the album draws from personal experiences, her ability to craft such an emotionally charged concept suggests a deep empathy for the subject matter.
The Mystery Continues
While Effy remains coy about the album’s details, fans have already begun speculating about the themes and sounds based on her cryptic teasers. Some believe the album will represent a significant departure from her previous work, while others expect it to build upon the introspective tones of her earlier releases— many teasers have pointed to a Welcome To My Funeral follow up. Though she denies any official title, posting:

For now, Effy seems content to let the mystery linger. “This is the most vulnerable and ambitious thing I’ve ever created,” she teased. “It’s about listening, feeling, and reflecting. I want people to hear their own stories in this.”
With its focus on mental health and identity, Effy Giraffe’s upcoming album promises to be a powerful statement on the struggles and triumphs of the human spirit. Whether it will resonate as deeply as her previous work remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—Effy is once again challenging herself and her audience in ways few artists dare.
Stay tuned for more updates as the release date draws closer. If this concept is any indication, Effy Giraffe is poised to deliver an unforgettable sonic experience that will leave a lasting impression.

Effy Giraffe Releases New EP, Darkness Inside Of Me: Immortal Echoes, and Hints At Her Darkest Era Yet

Effy Giraffe has officially launched her next musical chapter with the release of Darkness Inside Of Me: Immortal Echoes, a promotional EP built around her haunting new single “Darkness Inside Of Me.” Out now, the EP features an extended version of the track that gives fans their first glimpse into the ambitious narrative of her upcoming album.
The EP includes four tracks:
1. Darkness Inside Of Me - Immortal Echoes Mix
2. Darkness Inside Of Me - Slow + Reverb Mix
3. Darkness Inside Of Me - Hypervoid Remix
4. Darkness Inside Of Me (Single Version)
At the center of the EP is the Immortal Echoes Mix, an extended version of the single featuring an introduction that was deemed too dark for the original release. Effy explained her decision to restore the intro in this version, noting its thematic importance to the story her upcoming album will tell.
“This character and story is a dark one, filled with hurt, rage, and regret,”
The extended intro, while unsettling to some, was deliberately included to tease the album’s themes. Effy revealed that the intro even contains references to aliens—an overt nod to her iconic 2014 Out of This World era. This subtle callback ties her new project to her artistic evolution while emphasizing the deliberate storytelling woven throughout her career.
She also revealed to us the introduction might be absent from the album version of Darkness Inside Of Me, but it will have a unique mix of it’s own as the albums introduction track. Which will kick off the album’s story perfectly.
Effy’s next album will not only tell a story but serve as a reflection of her personal and creative journey. “It’s important for me to tell a story with this next record”, she said, highlighting how the narrative explores raw emotions like hatred, mental health struggles, and eventual healing through therapy and medicine. The story begins with darkness, representing the division in the world, and evolves as the protagonist spirals into madness before finding redemption.
This latest project also builds on Effy’s transition from her earlier “slutty” adult persona—a defining characteristic of her early career—to the deeply introspective tone of her recent works. Her 2022 comeback single “End of Everything” and the subsequent 2023 album Beginning of the End signaled a shift in her artistry, which continued with her 2024 release End of the Beginning. Reflecting on this transformation, Effy described how she rushed out End of This World, a collection of new tracks and unreleased demos, to start fresh and embark on this bold new era.
“I feel like I’ve achieved [starting over fresh] with my lead single,” Effy wrote in a post on X.
So much more is to come. I can’t wait to transport you to my funeral. 😉
The cryptic quote, punctuated by a wink emoji, has sparked speculation among fans that the upcoming album may serve as a sequel to her beloved 2012 release, Welcome to My Funeral. While no official announcement has been made regarding the album’s title or release date, this subtle tease has fans brimming with excitement.
With Darkness Inside Of Me: Immortal Echoes, Effy Giraffe sets the stage for her darkest and most ambitious project yet. The EP offers a glimpse of the evolution and complexity that will define this era, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter in her transformative journey. The EP is available now on all major streaming platforms.

Effy Giraffe Breaks Free: New Single “Darkness Inside Of Me” Marks a Rebirth Under Her Own Label

Effy Giraffe has officially entered what she describes as her “darkest era yet” with the release of her new single, Darkness Inside Of Me. Released today under her self-owned label, Effy Giraffe Productions, the single marks a turning point for the artist, who has undergone a self-proclaimed “rebirth” after severing ties with DK Records. This powerful anthem is the lead single for her upcoming album, and fans are already buzzing about the artist’s bold new direction.
Effy’s departure from DK Records was anything but smooth. Early in 2024, the artist threatened to leave the label, citing an unfair contract that left her with minimal royalties despite the immense success of her comeback album, Beginning of the End (2023). After a drawn-out battle, DK Records ultimately dropped her in March 2024, forcing her to start fresh. However, the label made an unexpected offer later that year, attempting to win her back with a lucrative new deal.
The DK Records Saga: Walking Away to Take Control
Effy’s relationship with DK Records had been rocky from the start. In a now-infamous statement from March 2024, Effy revealed:
The contract I was under left me with next to nothing, while they held a huge percentage in my royalties. They did me a favor by signing me in 2022 after eight years away, but the deal they offered reflected their belief that my relevance had faded.
Effy’s success with Beginning of the End and her string of already released 2024hit singles—including I’ve Moved On and Better Off Alone—proved her staying power, but the label remained inflexible. In February 2024, Effy released the single Be My Guy (Don’t Want You To) earlier than scheduled, a calculated move to fulfill her contract obligations and pressure DK Records into renegotiating. Instead, the label terminated her contract weeks later, leaving Effy to scrap her planned follow-up album, End of the Beginning.
She quickly announced her independence, releasing The One That Got Away under her own label. Although it didn’t achieve the same commercial success as her previous work, Effy found her footing with subsequent singles like Me, Myself & I and High. By August 2024, DK Records returned with a new deal, and Effy reluctantly signed a two-album contract in September—primarily to reclaim creative control over her unfinished sequel to Beginning of the End (2023), End of the Beginning which she released under them October 2024.
A Strategic Exit: End of This World and the Road to Freedom
Effy surprised fans in December 2024 with the unanticipated release of End of This World, fulfilling her two albums required under her new DK Records contract. The sequel to her 2014 classic featured a mix of new material and remastered demos from the original Out of This World, with production contributions from Michael Light. Effy and Light declined to comment on their collaboration, given the ongoing legal battle over rights to the 2014 album.
Critics speculated that the rushed release was a strategic move by Effy to free herself from DK Records as quickly as possible. While the album has received praise for its nostalgic sound, it’s clear Effy’s sights were already set on her next chapter.
A New Era: “Darkness Inside Of Me” and Effy Giraffe Productions
With her obligations to DK Records behind her, Effy has embraced her independence with Darkness Inside Of Me. The haunting track, released under her new label Effy Giraffe Productions, reflects the artist’s raw emotion and creative freedom. Effy has described this new phase as her “darkest era yet,” signaling a departure from her previous work.
This isn’t just a new single,” Effy stated in a recent interview:

Effy Giraffe Stuns Fans with the Surprise Release of “End Of This World” — The Long-Awaited Sequel to 2014’s “Out Of This World”

Effy Giraffe has sent shockwaves through the music world with the surprise announcement of her latest album, End Of This World, which will drop on December 20, 2024. Fans of the iconic artist have been waiting a decade for a follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2014 release Out Of This World, an album that remains unavailable on streaming platforms due to a legal dispute with producer Michael Light. Until now, many thought the long-anticipated sequel might never see the light of day.
Adding to the excitement — and perhaps controversy — Michael Light is credited as a producer on several tracks for End Of This World. Even more surprising is the involvement of Light’s son, Elliot Light, who contributed piano arrangements for two songs: “From My Past” and Effy’s haunting cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon.” It’s unclear whether Effy and Michael Light resolved their legal feud, as Out Of This World (2014) remains absent from all streaming services.
Tracklist for “End Of This World”
1. End Of This World (Introduction)
2. Discovery
3. Galaxy
4. Cruel II
5. You’re Gonna Want Me
6. Rhiannon
7. From My Past
8. High (Out Of This World Remix)
9. Drugs (In My Life)
10. My Heart’s On Fire
11. Blur
12. Russian Spy
13. Save My Soul
14. You
We reached out to Michael Light, who graciously agreed to sit down for an exclusive Q&A:
Q&A: Michael Light
Q1: How does it feel to return as a producer for Effy Giraffe’s new album after all these years?
Michael Light: It’s been an incredible journey. Effy and I have always had undeniable creative chemistry, and it was exciting to channel that energy into End Of This World.
Q2: What inspired you to work on this album despite the legal complications surrounding Out Of This World?
Michael Light: At the end of the day, it’s about the music. When Effy reached out, we had quite a bit of conversations before I agreed and we had to work a lot out. It just all fell together perfectly
Q3: Your son, Elliot, played piano on two tracks. How did his involvement come about?
Michael Light: Elliot is a brilliant musician. Effy heard him play one day and immediately wanted him to be involved on “From My Past” and “Rhiannon.”
Q4: What was it like to reimagine Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon”?
Michael Light: It was a process. I actually stressed she not put a cover on the album, though she pointed out Out Of This World featured a few covers so she felt it was a must. I just think covering a classic like that is tough… to win me over I feel like that’s why she asked Elliot to play on that one, which added a melancholic yet hopeful tone.
Q5: Can you share any insights into the creative process for “Cruel II”?
Michael Light: This was one I wasn’t involved in. I do know it originally wasn’t finished in time for neither of her synth-wave projects Beginning of the End and End of the Beginning. I had no involvement in any of her recent work. So I believe she worked with Johnnyboy Productions and BBB Productions to put that one together.
Q6: What’s your favorite track from the new album?
Michael Light: “Discovery” — it’s otherworldly and encapsulates the essence of the album perfectly. The way the introduction track and Discovery blend so well are just a lot of fun. And we got to sample her song Out Of This World in the intro which was also exciting to put together.
Q7: Were there challenges working with Effy after the legal dispute?
Michael Light: I prefer to focus on the music. Every creative partnership has its hurdles.
Q8: How has Effy evolved as an artist since 2014?
Michael Light: She’s fearless. This album really does highlight every genre of her career. We have some ballads, synth-wave, EDM, hip hop elements, dubstep undertones. The album is a real celebration of her discography, and you can hear it in every lyric.
Q9: What’s the story behind the “Out Of This World Remix” of “High”?
Michael Light: It’s a nod to fans who enjoyed the original album. I secretly remixed the song and we released it September 6, 2024 as a test to see if fans responded to that genre of music more than her synth-wave work. It inspired us to actually finish End Of This World which was actually halted for quite some time.
Q10: Can fans expect more collaborations between you and Effy in the future?
Michael Light: I never thought this reunion would happen. Neither did she honestly. You never know. Though, I know her direction for 2025 is quite different than any of our work together so I’ve heard she tapped Dubstep to produce a track or two. I can’t remember the details. I just know it’s not the direction I’m use to when producing. Never say never I suppose.
Q11: What was the atmosphere like in the studio?
Michael Light: Tense at times. We’re both perfectionists— and we both have different views of what “perfect” is. So there’s clashing for sure. Though, I feel like our fighting truly brings out the best in both of us.
Q12: How did you approach production differently this time around?
Michael Light: We embraced more layered and atmospheric sounds. I have to say the style isn’t so much different as it is evolved.
Q13: Did you and Effy discuss the legal issues at any point during production?
Michael Light: We kept the focus on the music. Discussions were made prior to any sort of reunion.
Q14: What role do you think this album will play in Effy’s legacy?
Michael Light: It’s a defining moment. Fans will appreciate the callback to many genres we’ve tapped into.
Q15: Any final thoughts on End Of This World?
Michael Light: It was a lot of fun. I’m honored to have been part of it. Wish it wasn’t so rushed. Personally I think she should have rolled this out next year. I would have liked “Discovery” as the lead single, with “Russian Spy” (because of its Fun With A Nun shock value style), and then “Cruel II”. Though I respect she’s transforming next year and wanted to close 2024 with this love letter to her 15 year career.
Effy Giraffe also agreed to a sit down, excitedly discussing the new release.
Q&A: Effy Giraffe
Q1: What inspired you to finally release a sequel to Out Of This World?
Effy Giraffe: It felt like the right time. A year after Out Of This World released, it was rumored a sequel album titled Inhabitant would be set to release in 2016. The rumor was only slightly true. After Out Of This World released we did record quite a few demos for a sequel album, we dubbed it Inhabitant. We then moved on and started working on The Greatest: The Complete Hits Collection as I wanted to retire I saw the success of my last album at the time, and I wanted to close my career on top. So it’s crazy to think a decade later I would finally be dropping a sequel album to Out Of This World.
Q2: How did it feel working with Michael Light again?
Effy Giraffe: I knew it was the right thing to do. Continuing an era that was hugely successful in part due to Michael’s production couldn’t have happened without him.
Q3: What does “End Of This World” mean to you?
Effy Giraffe: I think the deepest meaning for me. It’s truly an end to everything that once was. 2025 you’ll see a new me, something that’s quite different. Which is why I felt this had to release this year next year is a rebirth of sorts.
Q4: Why cover “Rhiannon”?
Effy Giraffe: It’s a song I’ve loved for years. I did Seven Wonders for The Greatest. So I’m a Fleetwood Mac fan and wanted to do a song that I loved. I knew the album had to have a cover. We did I’m Free on Out Of This World so choosing one cover was a must.
Q5: How did you decide on the tracklist?
Effy Giraffe: Each song tells a story, and together they create a journey. I wanted to include other worldly aspects, which is why I made sure to reference aliens with a few callbacks to Out Of This World
Q6: What was the most challenging song to record?
Effy Giraffe: Cruel II actually
Q7: Can you explain the significance of “Cruel II”?
Effy Giraffe: The first Cruel was featured on Beginning of the End. It was widely pointed out to me it didn’t follow the overall theme of the album — which is true. There was a lost demo that we never got around to finishing, and instead of finishing that demo, we created the version you hear on Beginning of the End. When we were working on End Of The Beginning we did plan on finishing the Cruel demo, but we never did in time. We finally finished it after End Of The Beginning released. We considered releasing a dual album compilation featuring both Beginning of the End and End of the Beginning with bonus tracks, including Cruel. Though instead, I dropped it as a single randomly, and we decided to attach it to this album as a nod to the synth-wave genre I explored.
Q8: Fans have wondered if the legal dispute is resolved. Can you comment?
Effy Giraffe: I’d rather focus on the album for now.
Q9: How did Elliot Light’s piano contributions influence the album?
Effy Giraffe: He brought an emotional depth that elevated the songs. From, My Past was an emotional song for me so I knew I had to have him involved. It was a lot of fun.
Q10: What’s your favorite track on the album?
Effy Giraffe: Honestly, probably Cruel II. One of the few Michael has no involvement in. It’s just so personal to me and honestly I think it’s my favorite song this year.
Q11: How do you feel about Out Of This World being unavailable on streaming?
Effy Giraffe: It’s unfortunate, but I hope fans embrace this new chapter. I’m going to see what I can do. I know it looks like YouTube music still carries the album regardless I’m gonna do my best to make it available.
Q12: What was the atmosphere like during recording?
Effy Giraffe: Intense, a lot passion, some days tension. I even reunited with Jamiya who sang on a From, My Past demo. We didn’t know if we wanted her to feature on the track instead we opted it be a solo track. She did provide background vocals though.
Q13: Can fans expect new music in 2025?
Effy Giraffe: certainly as you know my first single of the new year will release January 1, 2025. The single will be called Darkness Inside Of Me. Kicking off my darkest era yet.
Q14: How do you want fans to feel listening to End Of This World?
Effy Giraffe: Satisfied! I do hope this sequel album is everything they expected and more.
Effy Giraffe’s End Of This World will be available on Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon Music starting December 20, 2024. Don’t miss out on this long-awaited masterpiece!

Effy Giraffe Teases Yet Another “Return” with Cryptic 2025 Era Announcement

Effy Giraffe, the enigmatic pop sensation known for her unpredictable career trajectory, has dropped a brand-new teaser video, igniting speculation about her next move. The video, titled simply “EFFY GIRAFFE | 2025” was uploaded to YouTube on November 26, 2024, along with a X post where she states:
a return to roots. a rebirth. a growth. a darkness. a curse.
In the teaser, Effy Giraffe offers a glimpse into her latest artistic direction, showcasing a blend of dark gothic visuals and innovative soundscapes. Effy has been consistently been releasing music since December 2022, so calling this a return to music wouldn’t be accurate. Instead she explains:
I’m returning to the unpredictableness when it comes to the direction my music goes in. I’m returning to being me; instead of doing the same thing over and over with no real sense of growth between eras
Fans have expressed excitement over this announcement, eagerly anticipating the full album’s release. Effy Giraffe’s ability to reinvent her sound while maintaining her unique artistic identity continues to captivate audiences, making her upcoming era one of the most anticipated in recent years.
We are unsure as of now if this teaser is a prelude to her next era, just a teaser for a single that’ll be making it’s debut in the new year, or if this next project will be in anyway apart of End Of This World. What we do know is this is just the first teaser of apparently many leading into the new year.
For those interested in experiencing the teaser firsthand, it is available on YouTube:
