Staying up late again, here’s the heroine/second main character I was thinking about.

I think up too many series at once, no wonder I get none of them done. I’ll schedule this one first, since it seems like it’ll be a shorter series, based on what I’ve thought up so far.

Rance X is tugging at my heartstringies. What I’ve spoiled for myself of the true ending is uggggghhhhhhh, so heart-wrenching! In part, though, I still need to find more info.

Well, that’s a day missed - I was up from night till morning playing Monster Hunter World, and thus didn’t do a post before bed - because i didn’t touch my bed at all.

I did a bunch of chores today half awake, and now, after cleaning the basement partially, I can say I made a good start on some fire emblem fan art.

So, yesterday I said that I would devote some time to developing my main character’s look, and I produced some sketches today.

I’m struggling to find a look that suits him, experimenting with distinguishing marks like scars or interesting hairstyles. The idea I’m most attached to was something like two cornrows on the side of his head. The scar on his cheek and the scar on his chin were also some ideas I was playing around with, but the cross shaped scar on his forehead is an idea I came up with today while playing around with the design of his jacket.

I’ve been drawing this same thing for months and it has barely changed, but for some reason, something always felt like it was off; the cross shaped scar feels like a step in the right direction...

More visual development for my project. My goal when originally coming up with this character was an alluring yet easy-going, borderline aloof beauty. I enjoy a certain level of sex appeal in my waifus, and this design was my first attempt at this.

I find it harder to create sexy characters comfortably; many people want to judge you as shallow or as a pervert depending on how far you take it, but sometimes it’s not at all anything to get worked up about. Sometimes, you just have to appreciate the sexy, because sexiness isn’t a bad thing, and move on.

This character, Andi (with a heart over the I) is a supporting character in the story I’m working on. She was a photo-journalist before the civil war in the setting, and while she still enjoys photography, she now works as a Bartender and Rogue in the new lawless world. She is something like an older sister figure to the main character... whose design I really need to pin down. Eventually.

Visual development is probably my favourite parts of the creation process when it comes to comics. Getting to know my characters and how to draw them is so enjoyable! Even getting stuck in this stage isn’t something I mind terribly.

The huge project I’m working on is actually a justified amalgamation of most of the dropped ideas I’ve had over the past several years, in a last ditch effort to actually realise the concepts borne from the depths of my mind...! 

This is a character, Mapenzi, who works as a freelance, freestyle exorcist/magician, getting involved with all manner of super-, para- and crypto-natural bullshite. Many in her family are exorcists as well, but are usually affiliated with churches and/or temples and the like, so she runs away to follow in her older sister’s footsteps to become a splendid and reliable magician, while trying to find a place she feels comfortable in. I can’t wait for her arc in my project; it is unfortunately a ways into it, so I won’t be drawing her story right away.

Mapenzi means ‘Will’ in swahili.

I’m agonizing, because I seem to be stuck in the planning stage for so many things in my life. I to devote this week to action... but honestly, I don’t mind the planning part because I used to be the opposite of the way I’m being now. I’d start so many different things without thinking anything through, and ended up delivering on none of them. I guess I’m just getting impatient.

This is a character in my comic project - but way way down the line. I originally conceived her for a completely different series that somehow was assimilated into the big one, along with many others, as a last attempt to bring closure to those loose  ended ideas of mine.

Also, I still can’t focus for the life of me when drawing boobs. They’re just so mesmerising, damnit!

I haven’t been watching much anime as of late, but I decided to watch little witch academia, and it strikes me how well trigger works with their series, specifically this, kill la kill, luluco, and even going back to the late years of gainax with gurren lagann. Each one has a nice compactness to it, but it never feels too rigid.

I’ve been having second thoughts all day about whether doing this daily blog thing would help me at all. I’m thinking it will at least inspire some discipline within me, which I’ll need to change anything else that I want to about myself.

One thing at a time.

That said, I’m playing through Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth on my Playstation Vita, and the first thing that stuck out to me before even starting the game was the amazing art by the amazing Suzuhito Yasuda sensei (@suzupin), of durarara!!!  and Devil Survivor fame. The designs for the characters are all great, and it plays super well, BUT DAMN if he can’t draw some sexy characters. The female avatar is a stand out to me, for being a cutie. 

Incidentally, thinking of something to draw today wasn’t hard at all.
