so one very cool little detail in horizon cotm is the little blaze canisters you use for fire arrows. they arenât quite filled to the top, so the blaze in them sloshes around a bit when you handle them, and if you shake them up, the blaze turns from green to yellow.
and that might seem like a little nothing detail, but the thing is, blaze is green in HZD and yellow in HFW. and while i assume they made that change for gameplay reasons â acid is green in HFW and they couldnât have acid and blaze both be green â it still kind of bothered me. and i guess it must have bothered someone on the dev team too, because in true horizon environmental storytelling fashion, they built an explanation into the âpoke it with a stick and see what happensâ mechanics of their vr game.
#mystery solved: the machines have just gotten more jittery since the last game!#itâs cause aloyâs so scary to them. obviously.#why is he climbing a mountain?#no dawn west not allowed#fyi one thing you shouldnât poke with a stick in that game: the campfire#the stick catches fire and burns your fingers pretty much immediately

Why do people need subtitles to watch a show in English? I don't get it. What is wrong with the ears of young people?
#auditory processing is⊠not my strong suit#and iâm obsessive enough about characterization to want to catch every single word of dialogue#also subtitles/captions have gotten good enough that they add to the experience rather than detracting from it#if we were still watching our shows at low-res on 10â screens it wouldnât be such a no-brainer to turn them on

the thing they dont tell you about working with little kids is it wrecks your vocabulary. you hear a kid phrase something bizarrely in a way only a 5 year old can and now any time you lose shit youre like "it dissed appear"

i really wish call of the mountain had a bonus mode that let you just hang out in the sun and look at the robot models up close. i donât even need them to move or anything; i just want to walk all around a watcher and look at every detail from six inches away.
