Swan Lake AU

The place where Jayce & Viktor visited whenever they wanted to get away from their worries and have a space for just themselves is also the same place where Jayce is turned into a swan—the “swan lake��.

To them, this lake is very important and it harbors a lot of emotions built from years of spending quiet moments together at this lake. So to have it carrying the horrible emotions that happened when Viktor turned Jayce into a swan was very hard for both Viktor & Jayce to reconcile with.

What was once a comforting place to Viktor now only becomes another source of his stress because of the guilt he carries by what went down between them that day.

For Jayce, it’s become his prison. A place where he cannot fully leave and he feels trapped. He wants to leave, he wants for Viktor to turn him back. He can’t live like this. But Viktor’s still busy and Jayce can’t leave due to hunters, so he’s stuck until further notice.

Arcane is invading my every waking thought and I need to point something out about season 2 Viktor. It's gonna be a bit long

So. We all know there's a fuck ton of religious imagery with Viktor in season 2 but there's something about the color of Jayces blanket that I realized a few days ago. In orthodox iconography (I was raised orthodox which is why I say them specifically. Idk about catholic iconography), red represents humanity and blur represents divinity. Hes always depicted in an outfit similar to this one:

He was born human but was cloaked in the divine, hence the blue going over the red. He is a human, first and foremost.

Viktor is similar. When he's wearing Jayce's blanket, the blue is ALWAYS facing outwards. His humanity has begun to disappear. And after he started the compound, the red almost doesn't show at all. It's only at certain angles around his collar.

He's fully surpassed his humanity and become divine. Hes a Herald of so many people now, the center and leader of his compound. And he is divine

But when he becomes the Machine Herald, the red shows again

His humanity is closer to the surface. It was always still there, but now it's not as buried. Because it takes one person to bring him back to his humanity and lead him to reject the divine.

Jayce Talis. And Jayce has red in every. Single. Outfit.

He represents Viktor's humanity by the end of the series. Hes the only one who was ever able to bring back Viktor's humanity. The only one who was able to bring it back out. The only one who loved Viktor fully and unconditionally, no matter where in his arc he is.

I dunno. There's a lot to be said about the symbolism in this and I'm too tired to lay it all out

Arcane Swan Lake inspired AU with a sneak peek of the storyline

Act I: Birth of a Herald

The story begins in winter. Ximena and her son Jayce are trapped in a blizzard, lost within the woodlands near Piltover. With no way out, and their destination out of reach, it seems like these two will die. Until a young black swan finds them and brings them to safety using his magic.

It turns out that the black swan is actually a magician named Viktor, and he’s one of many denizens of the Enchanted Woods next to Piltover. Viktor introduces Ximena and Jayce to their current main protector and his mentor, the alchemist Reveck. Reveck, with the urging of Heimerdinger and Viktor, decides to allow Ximena and Jayce to stay within the Enchanted Wood. Under the conditions that neither may leave since humans can prove to be tricky to deal with, and they need to protect the woods.

Reveck notes to Ximena that he understands her plight of raising a child alone, since he too was once a single parent himself.

However, Jayce and Viktor soon discover oddities among the forest, forcing them to embark on an investigation that will lead them to a horrible discovery for all the denizens of the woods.

Meanwhile, a young Mel Medarda is the recently exiled heiress to the Medarda family of Noxus. Moving to Piltover with her best friend and assistant Elora has been tough, but getting a foot within the trust of Piltover’s nobles is tougher. That’s not even mentioning the mystery of the Enchanted Woods. With calculated steps, Mel will prove that she can make this city hers.

But first, who’s that boy she sees at the edge of the woods?

I’ve been thinking about making a barbie swan lake inspired meljayvik au & I have the bones for it done but writing it is the hard part,,,

But like. Hear me out: Jayce as Odette, Viktor as Rothbart/Odile & Mel as prince siegfried

Viktor is the Swan Herald of the enchanted woods, he took the position over from Singed after Singed damaged the forest & he’s now working tirelessly to fix everything,

Jayce isn’t from the Enchanted Woods but he’s definitely Of them, as the pseudo-son of Heimerdinger. He has a fascination with Piltover and goes there frequently

Mel is the recently elected Queen of Piltover, having earned the position through diplomacy & hard work. She’s the banished heiress of the Medarda Family from Noxus, and thus is trying to make a name for herself

The story isn’t too figured out, but it will most likely have two Act’s with one following how Jayce gets turned into a swan, Viktor’s descent as he tries to keep a handle on things and Mel’s introduction to the enchanted woods, and the other following how to turn Jayce back from a swan & Mel and Viktor realizing they might not be so different after all
