In life, the Cowardly King was unable to boast of having mastered the art of combat - something entirely different for his brothers, who had managed to both go above and beyond the training their Father had put the trio through. Urien had never found himself skilled in brawling, preferring to stay off the battlefield and function more as a tactician  for his army than that of a warrior. Of course, this had always proven frustrating for their Father and later on the King himself, unable to commit to the blow, failing to finish off an opponent. While his Father had been a harsh, strict man, Urien held little doubt that the realization of his eldest child being a failure as a solider was just as painful to him as it was Urien himself.  

As a servant, things had significantly changed: Strength and skill that surpassed the limits placed on a human form, the ability to return after having received a fatal blow - what kept him trapped in his own fears in life seemed to be near non existent in this current state. However, despite having newfound strengths outside of battle tactics did not make up for a lifetime of failure, the man often finding himself over powered and out-maneuvered when facing an opponent of equal or greater rank. To return back to the halls of Chaldea injured was not uncommon - nor was he the only one who often found themselves a mess of scrapes and bruises after taking part in a mission with their Master.

Injuries had become a normalcy for the Rider - with each passing day, the man found himself more and more accustomed to the fact it was unlikely he would return without a new one. To become incapacitated in battle was a bit more uncommon, but like the others, he found himself becoming more comfortable with the idea of temporary death. However… it appeared others were not.

                                                   “ I thought I lost you. “

His voice was thick, as if there was something caught in his throat, eyes - eye? - red and puffy, as if the other had been crying.

For a moment, Urien feels guilty - of course. Why wouldn’t Taliesin be concerned over his personal well being? The two were -  even if the thought still flustered him - more than friends. And then, the second thought that often soon followed and overruled the rational one: Why would someone worry about him?

A moment of silence follows after, the two simply staring at the other, as if waiting for one to break the silence. What could be said, however? There was no reassurance that such a situation would never happen again - Urien did not fancy himself a liar, nor an optimist. It would likely not be long before he vanished entirely from the facility. If he had to guess, Taliesin was aware of this. Reactions to Urien’s injuries becoming more and more extreme with each passing day, it was not difficult to realize just why he was so paranoid about the other leaving to join their Master in battle. To have the gift of prophecy was likely not one a being could enjoy - awakening each day to a new fate, a new death, a new life.

                    “ I do not believe you wish to hear a lie, Gw - Taliesin. “

It still felt odd to refer to him by his proper name - but, even if he did find himself messing up at times, the King had been slowly growing used to it. Of course, there were still other matters to be discussed in that regard - but that was an entirely different conversation for the two.

“ I cannot promise that I will return to you safely each day. It is simply statistically illogical to do so - and for what reason should I? If I may be frank, you know much more than I on which battle should prove most fatal. I do not believe I should fill your mind with fantasies of happy endings, when we both know you are more aware than everyone as to what will happen to the two of us. “

His voice is not cold, despite the harsh words he replied with. If anything, it sounded more as if it were filled with longing - the longing to be able to promise such things, to be able to comfort the other to the fullest and let the two believe there were such things as fairy tale endings for beings long dead and corrupted by history.

                                                            “ However… “

Moving forward, Urien grasps the others face, thumb stroking his cheek in an act of comfort.

“ No matter what may happen, do not forget these words: I love you. Death will not change this -   I believe you are living proof that dying is merely a step along the way to meeting out final fate. Despite everything, we met again - and we will meet again. I promise you that. You will never truly lose me, for I will always be with you, waiting on the other side for you to join me. So, please, Taliesin, do not worry about tomorrow anymore… there is no changing what will happen. But we can wait for it, together, and enjoy the present by each other’s sides. ”

“ ...I apologize if this comes across as... odd, my friend, but I wish to speak with you about something. May I have a moment of your time? It won’t take long, I promise. “

Settling down in the spot beside the Caster, the King casts Taliesin a glance, before abruptly looking away, a flush beginning to play on his features. Ah, this was going to be embarrassing.

“ You have been by my side for years - a friend through thick and thin, you remained at my side even as my mind became frail, and my body began to give way to illness and abuse. The life of royalty was one I was ill-suited for - sometimes, when it truly felt as if it were too much, I would consider taking my own life. Why allow myself to sit and rot, when I could end it in a moment, and be free? Gwyar would have made a much better King of Rheged than I, something our family quickly became aware of. In all honesty... while it was frightening, I do not blame others for wishing me dead. If a King is not able to support his Kingdom, and be the ruler their people truly need, then they do not belong on the throne. I was able to stay for as long as I had through pure luck - but, I often find myself wondering. If I had stepped down, would Rheged have flourished? Or would it still have fallen, as if did after my death? “

His tone is soft, voice barely above a whisper, drifting between the two with the wind. Urien pauses for a moment, the silence dragging on between the two, before he blinks. God, he had done it again, hadn’t he? Why did no one stop him when he began to teeter off from the point of a conversation? It was both frustrating and annoying for both himself and others when he 

“ Ah... but, that is not what I wish to discuss. I apologize for rambling - honestly, why does no one smack me when I begin to? It would be much easier for everyone if you did. “

"...I suppose to many, my deep admiration and affections for Uther was obvious. He was a great man... Even if I did not always agree with his methods, as a King, he was respected by many - something that I, as a young Prince and eventual King myself, desired. I wished to be like him, to mold myself to be a replica of his image. I shadowed him for many years, tailing like a helpless puppy...  When he married Igraine, it was painful. Of course, I was happy for him, but... “

He trails off, an expression of pain crossing his features.

“ And then, to be wed to Morgan. I had no interest in her. I had no desire to take a wife. The one I loved was Uther, and no other. .... At least, I thought I would love no other. “

Ah, yes, he was most definitely blushing now. He could feel the heat in his cheeks, the red that likely made his ears scarlet, more likely than not causing him the stand out like a sore thumb even worse, as it was coupled with the odd shade of his hair.

“.... I suppose I have avoided the point of this conversation long enough. Gwion, Uther wished to create a Kingdom where peace ruled, and even if his methods were not ones I agree with, I still support that dream.. To see it someday, I think, is what I wish for most. To take Yvaine somewhere, a kingdom where no pain will ever come to them, to live a worry free life... I know this is a foolish question, but would you want to come with me? "

“ A man such as I, asking someone to stay by their side... how comical. I know I have no much to offer, but... I believe I have found myself in love with you, Gwion. And it.. would do me great honor to be able to live with you, as your partner, and not just a friend. If you lack those feelings, please do not feel forced to return them. I want someone to call Elias out on how his personality is actually not...okay. I want someone to tell him he needs to learn to live for himself, that he needs to stop idolizing his father and that being so caught up in the past only hurts others around him and himself.  I want them to argue with him, point out all the flaws in his mentality, make him aware that they are there for him, and want to help him... and then, then I want Elias to open up and talk about Pelles and Kardiez. 

Talk about how he hated being one of Pelles’ knights. How he had wanted to be a knight of King Bors, that he wished many times that Pelles would drop dead, and how horrible of a person he was. About how Pelles let his own great nephew be executed -  just, let him open up about how much he actually hated the path he pursued in life, and how, honestly, it wasn’t the heroic knighthood he had always wanted and pictured. That he was honestly disappointed in it, but won’t admit it. 

Kardiez would likely be a much harder box to open. It’s something he keeps locked up, deep inside his heart. He both hates and loves talking about her; the little sister who died too young. He blames himself for her death, believes himself to be what caused her health to downfall so fast. Let him vent about how much he misses her, how he wishes it had been himself instead of her, and about how his wish is to know if there was any way of saving her, or if her death was inevitable.

I really want to have a thread where someone breaks Arthur - points out how toxic his mentality is, and won’t put up with his shit. I genuinely want someone to tell him to shut up, listen, and actually register what they’re saying. I want someone to either physically or verbally slap him, and let him know his viewpoint of the world isn’t okay, and that pushing others away with verbal abuse and violence won’t be tolerated anymore. 

And after that, I want the two to become friends - I want a relationship that constantly challenges Arthur, to make him a better person. He needs someone who will stand by his side, but not allow him to wallow in misery or react negatively to others constantly. 

He needs someone who is equally as stubborn as him, someone who won’t put up with bullcrap, because they understand his feelings, but won’t let him push others away and remain stuck in that rut he’s been in for most of his life. And then, I want them to be friends who lean on each other, friends who have their fights and disagreements, friends who laugh at the dumbest of stuff and who shove food in each other’s faces. I just want a genuine, real friendship with someone who will challenge him and push him out of his comfort zone and help him become a better person

Like a dog, the smaller Knight almost looked as if he he baring his teeth, mouth twisted into a  trademark scowl that seemed to near always be present on his features. Had he not constantly been in a foul mood, one could almost call him cute - and yet, that however did not stop the other Knight from referring to him as such, something that needless to say never ceased to piss him off.
