A hospital is a place of healing of care. They might be in a warzone which makes them more important.

Stop the attach on hospitals.

Whomever might be in them. They're mostly sick injured or working to save lives.

Excellencies,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Last Wednesday, airstrikes obliterated Al Quds Hospital in Aleppo.

They blew apart at least 50 men, women and children.

It killed one of the last remaining pediatricians in the city.  

A murderous airstrike.

We are facing an epidemic of attacks on health facilities, impeding our ability to do our core work.

And to date, our calls for independent investigations have gone unheeded.

Accountability begins with independent and impartial fact finding.

Perpetrators cannot be investigators, judges and juries.

Make no mistake: we will relentlessly denounce attacks on healthcare.

We will speak out loudly and with force about what we witness in the field.

Medicine must not be a deadly occupation. Patients must not be attacked or slaughtered in their beds.

Re-commit, unambiguously, to the norms that govern the conduct of war.

This resolution must lead to all states and non-state actors stopping the carnage.  

You must also pressure your allies to end attacks on healthcare and populations in conflict areas.

We will not leave patients behind. And we will not be silent.

Seeking or providing healthcare must not be a death sentence.

You will be judged not on your words today, but on your actions.  Your work has only begun.

Make this resolution save lives.

While the nature of warfare may have changed, the rules of war have not.

You are charged with protecting peace and security.

You therefore must live up to your extraordinary responsibilities, and set an example for all states.

I repeat: Stop these attacks.

How do you make the grey market responsible?

Quirtina Crittenden was struggling to get a room on Airbnb. She would send a request to a host. Wait. And then get declined.

“The hosts would always come up with excuses like, ‘oh, someone actually just booked it’ or 'oh, some of my regulars are coming in town, and they’re going to stay there,’” Crittenden said. “But I got suspicious when I would check back like days later and see that those dates were still available.”

In many ways Crittenden, 23, is the target audience for AirBnb. She’s young, likes to travel, and has a good paying job as a business consultant in Chicago. So she started to wonder if it had something to do with her race. Crittenden is African American, and on AirBnb, both hosts and guests are required to have their names and photos prominently displayed on their profiles.

Crittenden shared her frustrations on Twitter with the hashtag #AirbnbWhileBlack. She started hearing from lots of friends who had similar experiences.

Sometimes going slow will get you somewhere faster, or more permanent. I keep forgetting how the saying goes.

The “If you’re not drawing 24/7 you aren’t working hard enough.” mentality is garbage.

When I was in college there was this ongoing competitive mindset from the teachers /students that: “If you’re not drawing all night / getting 1 - 2 hours of sleep, you’re going to fall behind.” If you’re an artist you’ve probably met this kind of thinking… I’ve heard it from so many pros / tutorials.

One of my professors said that line all the time. I loved this dude. he worked at Disney on many of my favorite movies, and my young self became absorbed in this mindset. About 3 years into my degree that professor had a stroke, and when he went to the doctor they said he actually previously had something like 10+ strokes without even knowing, brought on by stress, and that he needed to slow down. 

Since then I’ve heard tons of other accounts of sickness and divorce brought on from addiction to work.

A few years later I was listening to an Animation podcast interviewing Glen Keane. He brought up that there were other animators who would live and breathe their work, never going home, barely sleeping, etc. 

What shocked me was that Glen Keane said something like “I ignored this idea, and decided to go home every night to spend time with my family, because I could learn just as much from my life experiences with them.” 

Anyway I just wanted to take a second after hearing a statement like this again recently and let any young artists out there know that:

There’s nothing wrong with investing plenty of time studying and drawing, but also be healthy.
