EI Jubilee Celebration!
“Oh how good it is When the family of God Dwells together in spirit In faith and unity. Where the bonds of peace, Of acceptance and love Are the fruit of His presence Here among us.”
Based on Psalm 133:1, the words of this song by Keith and Kristyn Getty resonant the memory of Saturday’s celebration. The smiles, the hugs, the joy of seeing friends from years past, friends with shared memories, friends who are all a part of the family of God. One person remarked, “EI is a family and if you have worked with EI, you are a part of this family, no matter how long it has been.”
Sixty-six people gathered at the EI Canada office in Stouffville for this event, alumni, current staff, supporters and friends of EI. The purpose of our celebration was to praise God, to thank God for His goodness through the 50 years He has given EI. Hannah and Melody Maxson led us in songs of praise. Terry Ratcliff shared a fascinating history of the Ratcliff brothers who opened their hearts and doors to this building we were in which has housed the EI Canada office for over 45 years.
Mark Middleton, past Director of EI, reminded us that Jesus’ final words to His disciples were “Go Ye.” Starting with your neighbors, then your province, then other nations, the message to us remains the same: “Go Ye.” Mark reminded us that times change. Generations see things differently. While the missionaries before us were a part of the industrial age, we are a part of the technology age. Methods and approaches adapt to the times. But the message that Jesus died so that we might live is the message we are to share. Jesus said, “Go Ye.”
We thank God for the privilege of sharing His love. We thank Him for the years he has given us as EI. We look forward to whatever He has for us going forward.
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!!!

Isaiah 44:6 “This is what the LORD says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.”
When the staff get involved, things happen! Edward, leader of the EI Tanga, Tanzania project, heard about a group of Maasai that were being relocated by the government into the project area. Edward put the word out, requesting that EI Tanzania reach out to this community with assistance through the Imarika program.
'Imarika' is a Swahili word meaning 'to be strengthened' and is also an acronym for 'imarisha mazingira, riziki, na kanisa' – meaning to 'strengthen environments, livelihoods and the church.' The EITZ team visited their partner church The Assemblies of God church in Msomera and found 18 Maasai individuals present. The Msomera group, originally from Ngorongoro, was formed among these newly arrived Maasai.
Edward and his team initiated a period of mobilization, focusing on the church for one week and the wider community for two weeks. Following this, core training was provided to members of both the church and the community. After the training, the staff decided to officially launch the group in Msomera, naming it "En'geno," with an initial membership of one hundred people.
The establishment of the EITZ Imarika project in Msomera has had a positive impact on the local church. The Pastor shared that it inspired him to start raising goats and chickens at home, noting that it was the first time he had seen a significant number of Maasai people actively involved in church activities, as traditionally, many follow their own customs and beliefs, making change challenging.

Okoa Kilangi has successfully built a house after joining the VICOBA group. He was saving at the end of each yearly cycle. After three cycles he was able to save enough money to continue with the construction and has now successfully moved into his own house.

Education is disrupted, if at all happening. Please pray for the children and young adults who are missing out on getting the education that will set them up in the future, when peace has come to Haiti. Pray that schools and universities will be able to open again soon.

Anitha Mbwelwa is a member of Shama group in Ikokoto village, and a pastor's wife. She is saying she has successfully installed piped water in her home through a loan from VICOBA. Before that, she spent a lot of time getting water from a river that was far away and the water was not clean. Now she can get clean water at home.

This year, EI Uganda engaged 34 communities in the GROW (Grass-Roots Outreach with the Word, aka Jesus Film) process. That means trained teams in 34 communities were ready on the ground when we showed the Jesus Film 34 times, and followed up with new believers after 34 altar calls and 34 community Bible study groups were formed and followed up! Praise the Lord! Since 2016, EI Uganda has had the great privilege to lead 101 churches through the GROW process. The film has been shown to an estimated 36,500 people, 7,125 of whom received Christ and were followed up following those film showings. The regional overseers that EI Uganda works with testify that GROW has helped their churches in ways that no other programme ever has. Rev. Denis from the Pentecostal Assemblies of God in Pader Town said that before GROW started working with his denomination 4 years ago, his assembly only had 4 churches. Now, those 4 churches have planted 12 others, making 16 churches in his assembly. More churches means more pastors! Pastors in Northern Uganda often have little to no training. This year, EI Uganda took its first step in its vision to go beyond the very basic-level training offered in the GROW training. A missions team made up of members from Canada and the UK came to run our first GROW Pastors’ Conference. The team shared with them encouraging devotionals, pastoral teaching, and financial stewardship training. But it was not the content that was the most important part of this conference. Rather, it was the opportunity for pastors to share their burdens with one another, and to be prayed for by the missions team and the EI Uganda staff. Please visit

Romans 12: 5 “So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
Linda Fitzmaurice, from the EIUK office, participated with her church in England which was sending a group of volunteers in 2015. She writes, “I was part of a short-term mission team to Ibumu, Tanzania. My church sent a group, aging from 16 to 72, to help build a science laboratory at the secondary school. We thought that we were going out to make a change in the village but we all came back changed ourselves, with a new perspective on what we consider to be important in our lives. The villagers were incredibly welcoming, and the beauty of the country was breathtaking. For me, the best experience was attending church in the village, a very different event to our usual services in the UK. The singing and dancing were inspiring. Worshipping together in Swahili (which we could not really understand) was still surprisingly familiar. I felt a profound sense of unity with my fellow believers as we knelt together to receive Holy Communion. It struck me that my church back home was doing the same that very Sunday… We were connected as one family in God, despite the distance!”

Romans 5:8. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." One of the great delights in Emmanuel International is the opportunity for short-term mission trips. ‘Short-term’ is sometimes hard to define. Is a person wanting to go for a year? Or three months? Perhaps 1-2 weeks? There is room for every participant, no matter how long the term of service. Any one of EI’s 7 affiliate country offices is willing to welcome one or more people who would like to visit, to observe the work on the ground, to participate in this work. The trips are usually 2 to 3 weeks, sometimes even just a week. Often the distance and cost of reaching the destination will determine the length of stay. Opportunities include a mix of practical work and spiritual outreach. Some teams have gone to host kids’ Bible programs. Others have gone to preach or teach in a conference. Very often the team will be involved in building, painting, digging gardens, teaching a sewing class, to name just a few. More important than the tasks are the relationships, the kindnesses, the experiences of being with people from another country. A mission trip provides a unique opportunity to experience how God is working in a very different part of the world. When one goes with an open heart to the people being ‘served,’ generally it is the heart of the ‘servant’, your heart, that is most touched by this investment of your time. What is your talent, your interest? There is an opportunity for you!

Colossians 1:16 states, "For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”
A logo is designed to communicate something about an organization. Much thought and prayer go into this very brief pictorial statement. A logo is meant to have impact. It is meant to draw a person’s interest. It facilitates instant recognition. It conveys values and character, fostering trust and loyalty.
In EI’s 50 years, the logo has undergone at least 5 changes. Initially, the logo showed an open Bible and a sheaf of wheat, demonstrating the organization’s central theme, the Gospel of Christ must go to the world. The original logo from 1975 was updated in 1978.
In 1990, the design was changed to a circle with 3 thick horizontal lines and a number of more narrow vertical lines. The lines were various shades of green.
In this design, the artist was showing
1. The Light of the world shining from Christians (lighter green) into a world (darker stripes) to those outside of Christ.
2. The light in the "unreached" side shows a progression from those who have had the "light" told to them to those "who had not yet heard."
3. The circle is the world and the EI is clearly visible as a means of getting the "light" to darkness."
These central themes have been retained, with the added touch of the world map design by Shawn Boadway in 2009. EI continues to carry the light of Jesus to a world darkened by sin. To God be the glory.

4-year project we are excited to see the efforts being made in Malawi to address Sexual Gender Based Violence. 330 women-led Village Saving and Loan (VSL) groups have been established and formalized in the districts of Mulanje, Machinga and Phalombe. These groups, which warmly welcome survivors of SGBV, have received financial literacy and business skills training and will gain access to capital. One woman shared “I learned how to use a ledger book for the first time”. Read more...
