Internet addiction is prevalent among youths who often do not have the desired level of health literacy.

But, what is internet addiction?

Internet addiction is characterized by excessive or poorly controlled preoccupations, urges or behaviours regarding computer use and internet access that lead to impairment or distress.

Some online users were becoming addicted to the Internet in the same way that others become addicted to drugs or alcohol, and the consequences are manifested in the social, work, and family life of a person. Furthermore, there are many dangers on the Internet, and the protection of children and young people requires good cooperation and communication between children, parents, schools, local community, and society as a whole, systematically acting at all levels of prevention and protection of children from possible harmful effects of the new electronic media.

Substituting that negative behavior for a more productive or healthy behavior (such as exercise or art) can help to stay in control of Internet addiction.
