a teen mod for ts1

i've been eyeing the simslifecycle's simteen program for a while now. but only decided to test it out in my game pretty recently. it's a program for ts1 which allows you to age up any kid to the brand new teen stage. the mod is ancient, but is easy to install since it's a self-extracting executable.

ALSO don't forget to make a backup of your game before installing!

after the installment just open it up and choose a kid you want to turn into the teenager or a teen into the adult. (a friendly reminder - if you have to open your game as an administrator, you must do the same with the simcycle as well)

basically, it just stretches your kid sim and makes the game treat them as the adults

the teen sims have their own custom bodymeshes and initially there's little to none of the outfit varieties, so the author of the mod recommends to download some other outfits in her FAQ, though, predictably, in 2024 all of those links are dead now. i only managed to scoop some stuff from this site.

since there's no way to add any custom career, the mod replaces the criminal track with the highschool one for the teen sims. so if you have any sim working as a criminal, they should reconsider their career choice, unless they want to cosplay as a highschooler.

so apparently the only thing which separates an adult and a teen sim here is that they are unavailable to call the cab for themselves for some reason, though they can invite someone on a date.

this is a bit annoying, but it's fixable with the rideable car mod (the links are in video's description, btw and i would also recommend to lock the car away whenever you don't use it cause the sims are going to swarm around it all the time on free will)

overall, it's not a bad mod on it's own, but since the teen sims are basically just the adults with the custom skinmesh and children heads, and there's no concept of familial relationship with other sims, i can not stress enough how helpful gothi's family mod is in this situation, which removes any inappropriate action between the relatives.

i haven't stumbled across any major bugs, besides one of my unrelated adult sim's broken swimwear which i fixed in simenhancer, but i'm not even sure whether it was the mod's fault.

i don't know whether i'd continue to use the simteen, since you just can age the kids up straight into the adulthood and pretend to play them as teenagers for a while. that would be basically the same

New Pleasantview

It's finally here!!

...well at least part of it. Let me explain...I had a dream that I could create scripted events easily, sadly as it is with anything, it's not always easy. I am rolling out the Empty version of New Pleasantview so you can add whoever you want and do whatever you want with it. The thumbnail picture for this one was taken by @plumbtales .

Speaking of Plumbtales, I want to give my sincerest thanks to Plumbtales for not only helping me with the lots for this big project, but for the support, kind words, teaching me new things, making the hood safe for download, handling the tedious task of taking charge of the language files and for just being an overall a great person to work with. I just want to put that out there because thanks are just not enough. I could not have done this by myself so thank you for being part of this with me.

Then there is the N001 version which it is the same hood and buildings, but with all the original characters that came with the game. I used @meetmetotheriver clean Pleasantview with townies. I used @microscotch Pleasantview Image as the thumbnail. After tweaking the neighborhood with SimPE and Mootilda Hood Replace, as well as a few mods that keep other characters from generating. (Thank you PT!) I was able to maintain the character's integrity and internal stories. They are all in the families bin in addition to their deceased (tombstones) being in the inventories of the living members. With this also came some sacrifices. The only thing I could not save were the scripted events because the properties no longer exist.

Lastly, I have also created a little realty catalog of all the properties in Oldtown. some have cute back stories and others you can put 2 and 2 together to determine where everyone in the families bin belongs.

ALSO I HATE TO YELL, BUT THIS PART NEEDS SPECIAL ATTENTION! THE N001 VERSION MUST BE PLACED INTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD FOLDER AFTER THE OLD N001 VERSION HAS BEEN DELETED OR RELOCATED BECAUSE IF YOU DO A REPLACEMENT OF FILES IT WILL BE WONKY FOR SURE. Done yelling.

This is only part 1. I plan to come back with a part 2 that will live the dream I am hoping to come to fruition where some characters from the past will be back and scripted events will make a comeback as well. I just need more time for that. I thought in the mean while I would give you guys this. This also helps me so if any of you notice anything amiss, you can let me know and I can fix it.

Just so you know the version of The Sims 2 that was used to create this neighborhood build was The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection.

And last but not least please make sure that you back up your stuff before you put anything that anyone has created (including me) into your folders.

***Please note: there is a known issues that tends to happen with apartment lots when you move in a sim, the entire lot appears to sink, don't panic. Return to the neighborhood and pick up and immediately place down again the lot. Do not move it to the lots bin. This should fix the issue. This is a well-known bug dealing with apartment lots built on not entirely flat lots. This is a snippet provided from one of Phaenoh's uploads on MTS. Thank you PD for answering my previous post.

Sims 2 Mod Edit: More Functional Easels with Hobby Enthusiasm Gain

I’ve always loved the more functional easels, the initial idea came from AnoeskaB who made the Maxis Easel more functional. Then, @fracturedmoonlight made several new easels with this added functionality, many of which being 3t2 conversions. After that, @drewinthesky then combined AnoeskaB’s More Functional Maxis Easel and Fractured Moonlight’s More Functional Custom Easels with gdayars’ Diagonal Easel Mod, so this awesome set contained the maxis easel and a gorgeous bunch of custom easels with both added functionality and the diagonal placement fix. Drew In The Sky then made another set, with even more easels, some converted from the Sims 4 by Veranka and added both the additional functionality and the diagonal placement to these easels too.

However, the problem I’ve always had with these awesome more functional easels is that they did not have any enthusiasm gain, meaning sims who used them would not gain enthusiasm in the Arts & Crafts Hobby. I’ve taken this community effort one step further and added hobby enthusiasm to the more functional, diagonal usable, maxis, 3t2, 4t2 & custom easels!

I’ve made a couple more edits to these easels too; I’ve compressed them, merged in any recolors with the mesh file, changed the filenames to the format most friendly for loading times (reduced length, removed spaces, etc.) and also updated the in-game catalog descriptions to better reflect and give credit to all of the creators involved with this project. As of the latest update, I’ve also adjusted the prices so now they are just +/-100 difference from the maxis easel instead of being drastically cheaper or more expensive.

It took me quite a long time to get my head around this community project, and before I understood that it was actually Drew In The Sky responsible for the most and most up-to-date versions of these easels, I asked the lovely Fractured Moonlight for permission to add hobby enthusiasm to their custom more functional easels and they kindly granted it. However, since it was actually Drew In The Sky’s edits that I built upon, I can only hope they would grant permission too but sadly seem inactive.

the main unfortunate thing about the timeskip vv universe is that sooooo much of the lore i’ve written has been about people who are not only dead during the time the story takes place but also were dead like a decade before 2004 when the maxis storyline starts. i’m plotting out hero and cordelia doing some L and light shit to each other as if they haven’t been dead for THIRTY YEARS

CatTober Day 11

the goths gameplay longpost

i had already played with them for 10-11ish days, but i am planning to play with them till the 30th day. the post is a bit long, so i hid a half of it under the cut.

so nothing really happened durning the first days, besides mortimer and bella having alex. and the burglar who broke into their house twice, hence the alarm at the entrance door. after he grew up into the child, they decided to throw a party.

the party was a banger, even drew carey came over (still have no idea who this guy is, lol)

since the older goths were not at the alex's party, they came over the next day. grandpa gunther even brought some flowers for his grown grandkid :)

aaand the next day, they went to the magic town as a whole happy family. good times :)

mortimer and the kids had some fun there, while bella's been using her charms to befriend new people. literally.

thanks to bella's harassment skills magic aptitude, mortimer gets yet another promotion

she had already proven herself to be a powerful witch by beating the best duelist of the magic town for the gazillionth time.

meanwhile, mortimer gets into potion making at his private lab/bella's magic storage room. his lab emits lots of poisonous fumes into the atmosphere, but as it turns out, mrs. pleasant, their neighbor, doesn't mind this at all... my dansandra ass is in shambles.

well, at least he has a friend by himself now, meaning less ingredient scavenging and making that stupid friendship spell for bella. a clear win-win.

oh, great, they bought that wretched thing. be careful, bella.

turns out it wasn't bella who needed to be cautious. cassandra's been abducted, for, like, THREE times in a raw.

with that kind of dedication, i think it's time to make her a honorable curious brother or something... the worst part, besides her changed personality, is that her grades are plummeted now, cause she skipped the school a couple of times during her intergalactic adventures. her being literally abducted by the extraterrestrial civilization was not a valid reason for skipping classes according to the school's administration.

at least the school also allows her to improve her grades that way. she's truly stuck in the loop now.

bella decided to sell some homemade wines as her personal income. her business is doing good, but she still has a space to grow with her cooking skill, which is ironic, cause she won't cook a normal dish even to save her own life

she's a witch, after all, so she can cast the food right into the fridge whenever she wants :)

ah, good enough. at least the food was actually casted, so whatever. the fire was put down anyway.

by the 28th day mortimer had finally reached the top of the science career! yay! i'll wait till the weekends come, so i could organize them a vacation next time.
