honestly? i think this is a positive thing.

i don't get the negative reaction. an author who vanished off the face of the world and washed their hands of their own art forever due to being harassed off of the internet-- by this fandom, by the way-- who continued to face transphobic smear campaigns for years after...

cautiously takes a few steps into the light to do something again (with their own story and characters, which they fucking wrote, fyi) for the first time in years...

and everyone immediately spits rebukes at them, and throws a fucking temper tantrum?

and why? because you don't feel like hussie "deserves" to make changes or adaptations to homestuck? because you feel like you own homestuck?

or because... "helluva fans will make homestuck so annoying! they're going to SWEAR! or tell DIRTY JOKES! they'll make the homestuck fandom full of CRINGEY TEENAGERS and DISCOURSE! everyone will think homestuck is WEIRD and associated with a bigot!!"

yeah that would be... so weird.... that's definitely not what the homestuck fandom is famous for or anything... or why hussie probably picked this studio specifically.....

I have a lot of ocs I really like but I'm just gonna talk about these ones in particular, whom are all lemon demon related because I don't have the energy to talk about five different characters (sorry nathan and beau fans)

Scarecrow (they/she)

one of the members of the clown circus, a circus largely developed of previously wizard of oz characters that very much warped past their source material, scarecrow, after receiving the gift of a "brain" realized that thinking kind of sucks and now spends a lot of her time spiraling and being overall anxious. unfortunately, most of her fears come true as she's frequently put within horror film scenarios. mostly involving zombies. they're a bit of a wreck at all times and is prone to overreacting which is what caused them to leave the circus to begin with. they believe they've largely fumbled one of the carnies they had a crush on (dorothy) and moved into the wilderness to escape the crime of murdering the fiberglass monkey (even though it was self defense). after mr wolfgang, another ex-carnie, kills diablo and disappears for similar reasons, she and him start living in a camper in the woods, only sometimes going to town for supplies. post 2016, she meets the ex-popstar, that we know as garrett bryer, whom excaped the clutches of the crisis actors studio and found his way into their camp. she doesn't really know what to do with him, but he seems to tolerate her, which is better than nothing.

I like them, they're funny and also a failgirl. I love watching this transfem nonbinary butch who sucks at everything but keeps persisting.

Dr. Emile Amnesia (she/her)

yes all of these are going to be women. no I will not apologize. lemon demon himself won't appear because I don't think he counts towards the ask prompt uhhh.

dr. amnesia is the only surviving child of maurice and diane amnesia, who only got together because some time travelers introduced them to each other. despite her parents eccentricities, she's pretty normal and well adjusted. she doesn't entirely know what to do with the legacy she is supposed to inherent so she simply... doesn't do anything with it (asexual win) and continues to live her life as usual, avoiding any and all paranormal happenings.

to be honest I think I explain the bulk of her lore best on art fight. but basically I love a rational person whom is the only one that bothered to take the family gun and point it at a mutated bug person that appeared immediately after the death of their father that's been foretold for years. I think she has every right to give that fucked up mansion to the underground wizard coven instead of dealing with it herself. good on her.

during the song she is based off of, gaps in the patient's memory makes her appear as some kind of silhouette missing her larger facial details except her prominent eyes. she has no idea this even happened she was literally just doing her job.

Dr. Amanda Khattar (she/her)

imagine being built up in such a way that you're supposed to haunt the narrative but then the person who preserved your body after you died fucking traded places in the narrative wouldn't that suck lmaoooo

dr. amanda khattar is one of the 4 independent scientists who went missing during an accident near the funkytown border in 1979. after her colleagues, dr. alexander avius and adam ivey, got trapped on the other side of the fence during a windstorm accident, she convinced dr. pascual rivera to come in after them, as they would be their liability and they couldn't afford to lose them. reluctantly, rivera followed in with her and they finally got a real look as to what funkytown looked like. all their previous probes would lose signal after going in, but now they had a real idea as to what they were dealing with. the reality of the situation wouldn't set in until they all slowly figured out how this dimension worked. adam was the first to lose his humanity and alexander would follow suit. eventually, it would just be amanda and pascual left who had any real desire to find a way to get out of here. adam simply gave up and eventually became the cabinet man while alexander lost his corporeal form, becoming the character in soft fuzzy man.

since funkytown works off the basis of written tropes, pascual learned that they could pretty much bullshit fantastical science here, like time travel or opening portals into other dimensions. unfortunately, none of what they tried could ever get them out. they were stuck, and soon they'd be made desperate. amanda was killed gruesomely and pascual tried everything in his power to save her. nothing worked. after installing a couple prosthetics, he was left with no choice but to preserve her in cryostasis. he would work on trying to find a way to revive her, but he lacked the proper resources. after a few years the project was shelved and he went back on trying to find a way out of here. like mentioned earlier, he developed a time machine, a portal to the next dimension, his own atomic prosthesis (after losing his arm from trying to close the portal to the next dimension), and eventually the machine, which would be his spiral into giving up on leaving and his grave.

pascual's research would later be discovered by the demon run company, crisis actors studio, in 2014. they came across the unfinished work on attempting to revive amanda and took it upon themselves to finish it. the scientist was revived with the intent of transcribing the rest of pascual's genius work and she was thrown into a horrific and unfamiliar future. her first task was to work on the lifetime achievement award project, which was similarly developed out of the technology that brought her back to life. you know how the story goes and I don't need to explain it to you, but after finally finishing their first experiment, ambrose cherrypop (better known as garrett bryer), she noticed a strange haunting the day of his release. this was no coincidence as she would meet the ghost several days later.

the apparition would appear once again and lead her to a room she didn't have card access to. the spirit simply broke the lock by messing with its internal mechanism, and amanda would soon find herself in the room where the rest of pascual's research was. the only thing the spirit was interested in showing her was the instructions for turning on the portal to the next dimension. he vanished before she could ask questions. reluctantly, she followed these new instructions and upon opening the portal she was met with the alien being known simply as the "no eyed girl". she didn't expect to fall in love with her, but strangely she was not the only one fascinated with the no eyed people.

(a very sceptical) spencer neuman, whom was given the same vision as (a corrupted) lucifer, the ceo of crisis actors, to build a great and terrible construct that would shatter the sky and bring the no eyed people into funkytown, thus creating the spiral of ants crawl to the tower near the end of spirit phone. obviously, this gets stopped, but in the process of opening the final portal, the no eyed girl is sacrificed and amanda loses her forever.

she still doesn't entirely know what to do with herself having dealt with so much loss already, but dr. amanda khattar persists regardless of what death has to say about it.

my lore is normal. you should come closer.
