Electricity Now a Basic Necessity
A career as an electrician has only a positive outlook. What with our increasing reliance on electricity to power practically everything in our lives, and the continuous growth of industry and development, a licensed electrician will never be for want of work. For those who want an apprenticeship position in an electric repair company go to the official website of electric repair contractors as they’re looking for new blood in their company.
It’s pretty awesome when you think that electricity has always been there, if in its raw form hurtling down from the skies. At some point humans managed to harness this tremendous natural phenomenon, and it literally changed everything.

Electricity and Billing Difficulties
SCANA, or South Carolina Electric & Gas utility is at the heart of electrical billing issues in South Carolina, after lawmakers allowed them to pass several costs and charges on to their consumers. Some of these costs include construction costs, and charges for two unbuilt nuclear power plants.
The result: a whopping 300 percent increase in people’s electricity bills.
Lawmakers are now attempting to fix the situation, but it does seem that SCANA might face bankruptcy if it isn’t able to recoup its losses from the unbuilt nuclear power plants.

Electrical Hostages
Did you know that there is currently an electricity crisis in Gaza? It began in 2017 when the Palestinian Authority stated that it would stop paying for electricity for Gaza, desiring to exert pressure and gain control of the strip.
Israel stepped in to try to normalize relations and prevent a humanitarian crisis, collecting tax money on behalf of the Palestinian Authority and then supplying electricity for a water desalination plant and a sewage treatment facility that services 300,000 to 500,000 Gazans.

Bending a Conduit
If you are an electrician, you may have once tried bending a conduit. You know how difficult the job is, and how precise you need to be in order to do the job correctly.
The good news is that a Utah inventor has developed a “modified conduit bender handle” that is designed to simplify this once-difficult task.
This invention, which is now pending a patent, is designed to make conduit bending easier and more efficient, while still maintaining accuracy and precision.
It would be interesting to see how this invention works once it becomes available in the market.

Conflict of Interest
Unfortunately, even electrical contractors may be prone to temptation, if they offer bribes to public officials in order to secure public electrical contracts.
Typically, public works and projects are submitted to a bidding of qualified contractors.  A major electrical project could cost millions. And some electrical contractors may attempt to secure the contract for themselves by offering bribes to those who have a say in who gets the project.
These things never work, and electrical contractors are advised not to even attempt it. They will get found out later on, and may then face criminal charges for bribery and other related offenses.

References for Electrical Contractors
According to ElectricianAtlanta.net (website) a simple way to check the references of your electrical contractor is to ask those who have experienced their services before. You can check reviews online or any of their former clients. If these are people whom you know personally and trust, and they vouch for the electrical contractor, that’s a huge plus.
Bottom line, if you want to have a good level of confidence that you’re hiring the right people, tap into your network to get a more personalized assessment of their services.

Mobile Lighting Controls
A new wave of technological innovations has introduced remote lighting controls through the use of a mobile app.
It’s a great way to help electricians be more efficient in their work, and it’s also a great innovation to offer to customers, who now have the option of turning lights on and off using a mobile app.

Two Questions to Ask your Electrical Contractor
We asked a local Columbus Ohio Electrician what questions you should ask your electrical contractor, when you’re thinking of hiring an electrical contractor, it pays to be specific. Two things you should agree on beforehand, and ideally get in writing, include:
-  An estimate on how long the project will take
-  An estimate of how much the project will cost
Getting these things down on paper, and an assurance that there will be no major additions, whether to the project or the cost, will help ensure a smooth working relationship with your electrical contractor.
And if you happen to live in Ohio, go ahead and visit them -

Electrical Problems with Traffic Lights
Here’s another reason why you would want a dependable electrician readily at-hand to check for problems.
Malfunctioning traffic lights have the capacity to cause danger and accidents to motorists and pedestrians alike.
Police may go there to take charge of the situation and provide temporary traffic enforcement relief. But eventually, those lights will need to be fixed, and for that, you would need an electrician.

Electrical Tragedy
Construction sites are full of electrical hazards, and the services of an onsite electrician is necessary. But sometimes accidents still happen, as evidence from the inquest of the death of a carpenter in Queensland has shown.
Outside of the site’s demolition zone, a damaged light fitting was reportedly identified as being in contact with a metal water pipe, that was also in contact with metal scaffolding. The metal scaffolding is the surface which the carpenter touched.
The problem was, the area was beyond the demolition site, which meant that it wasn’t closely monitored.
Evidence of negligence has yet to be proven.
