10 Minute Midsummer Meditation | Calming sounds of Norwegian rivers and streams

Good morning! (Or at least here in the Netherlands it's a gray, rainy morning as I post this)

Here's some calming Scandinavian scenery and sounds for a relaxed start of your day, or to use for meditation.

For the past few months, I’ve felt a complete lack of inspiration and motivation around videomaking, which I surrendered to as much as I could. Only very recently I felt a spark again and have some ideas for new types of videos.

But three months ago I injured my knee, and I'm currently three weeks into recovering from knee surgery, so unfortunately I won’t be going anywhere soon to work on my new video ideas, lol.

So, I made this video with footage I shot last summer in Norway. I'm curious to hear your feedback and what you think of something like this.

I remember when I first discovered this place. I could almost cry because I thought it looked and felt so beautiful. One of my favourite places to hide and sit between the moss for hours undisturbed.

Summer in the Scandinavian wilderness of Geilo, Norway | Solo travel vlog

This summer, I spent 3 weeks in a Norwegian town called Geilo.

I didn’t know this beforehand, but Geilo is a famous and quite touristy place. But since I was staying at the far edge of the town, I had the best of both worlds:

It was only a 15-minute bike ride to all the accommodations I needed – including a super cozy second-hand store where I ended up buying six copper pans (of which I still can’t believe they fit in my suitcase on my journey back home to the Netherlands).

But the area where the house was located felt remote, spacious and calm, and was surrounded by beautiful Scandinavian nature.

From the house, I could easily reach the most serene places: lakes, wild rivers, marshes, waterfalls, fjords, and rugged mountains.

Slow and quiet summer moments in the Dutch countryside | the Netherlands

Some beauty and calm that caught my eye the past month. An early morning walk along a foggy river with a blood red sunrise, spending the Summer Solstice sitting in a beautiful large willow tree at one of my favourite places surrounding this small town, and lots of gorgeous golden hour moments.

Gardening attempts to keep the slugs and snails away from the strawberries, and trying out David’s new soil block press, which works amazing for growing seedlings. We sowed a lot of different bean species and they’re already starting to cover all the garden walls now, I swear you can watch them grow by the minute.

And some wild encounters with adorable highland cattle calves annoying their mom, a sneaky hedgehog helping us out in our garden, a rare hummingbird hawk-moth, and a bunch of panicky geese.
