When Cassian and Charlie brought me forwards I could see them clearer. The pair of them had to have been at least two storeys tall. The taller one reminded me of those pink flowers with the yellow centre that cling to the walls at school. The other was angular, sharp and wiry. Like a branch of bramble. I’d draw them both, but I don’t know if I could do them justice. Eglantine and Rosaceae is what they called them. That’s ‘our’ names for them. I reckon we could’ve called them anything, though. They only had eyes for each other.”

Thanks for the ask Elena! Since you didn't specify whom to answer it for, I'll choose Aurinelle since most question apply to him :)

Monster: Aurinelle himself does not picture himself as “monstrous” in any way, but I guess some people might from an outside point of view. I guess you could say his sheer size in his merform is monstrous, not to mention how horrifying it would look to see a pair of yellow eyes staring at in the pitch dark along with a bunch of tiny little dots (his gems) which the eyes are surrounded with. Yeah, probably not a fun experience.

Aurinelle accepts that not everyone is going to think of him as a regular guy, and he is fine with it. There’s more to life than just appealing to everyone around you, after all (take notes on that Vanes).

Bound: …. I think not answering this one is as much of a spoiler as not answering it so I might as well 😭 but I will not be elaborating or giving specific details, sorry 😣

Aurinelle has indeed been imprisoned before. He was captured by human traffickers (mer traffickers? Idk). He killed the leader to escape. He was left with multiple scars and holes all across his merbody, the worst ones even visible in his human form.

Betrayal: Fortunately, Aurinelle’s trust has never been betrayed by somebody whom he trusted, for he chooses who to trust very, very carefully. And no, he would not dare betray somebody’s trust unless he felt that what they would do or planned to do would be harmful to themselves or to people whom Aurinelle cares about.

The exception is him betraying the trust of people he purposely got close to in order to get intel and has no attachment to. In cases like those, he will indeed betray someone’s trust for his own benefit.

Future: The worst possible outcome? Probably to return home and finding out there was no one left to return to. Aurinelle’s family comes first and foremost to him, and the thought of losing them is enough for him to lose all willingness to live.

However, there is an equally horrid outcome for him, and that is to go back into captivity once again. The thought is just as horrifying for…. Multiple reasons.

Does Ruixing have wings?

this is a good question bc i also need to answer this for santiago LOL

although they’re both bird beastmen, i’ve never really drawn them with wings—why is this? that’s a good question and it mostly boils down to me being lazy

but

let’s think about this for a second. they probably should have wings.

i know i can answer this question for santiago by saying he takes some kind of mild transformation potion (think the potions the octatrio use to maintain a human form, but on a smaller scale) to look more “human,” since he wants to fit in

but what about ruixing? wellllll i actually already established in my notes that he’s different from santiago bc he’s more precocious regarding his magic and can go between forms freely—whereas the full transformation for santiago falls under his UM—so maybe that would also apply to more beastly traits? or it’s some other magical effect? it’s probably easier for him to get by if he doesn’t have wings getting in the way, but they do serve practical purposes on other occasions

Yizé handles pain surprisingly well, considering that apart from his martial arts he doesn't actually get injured that often. He aggressively raps his knuckles against the nearest surface and clenches his teeth like "hhhhhhngnggh" when he's in pain lmao.

His worst physical wound was when he tripped and cut his forehead open as a child. He actually still has a scar under his hair. There was blood everywhere and you could see the hole. It gave his poor dad a heart attack.

His worst emotional wound was being told he doesn't belong at RSA and it that sense of imposter syndrome still lingers inside of him.

Nkulu is someone who was given too much free reign when it comes to the Internet, even when he was younger. He was making videos at like 13 or 14 already, with like.... a couple of friends and their friends as their followers.

If you ask him, his worst mistake was mocking his little sister while live for something that wasn't even bad, and it made her start crying. While said video wasn't exactly viral, "crying crab" did become a meme for a brief period of time, and it affected his sister very badly at school.

Nkulu feels terrible for it. Whenever he remembers the incident, his heart clenches and his stomach twists in disgust at himself, and the fact that he even laughed at his sister becoming a meme. He did apologise profusely to her, and the meme died quickly, but the guilt is still there and he makes it his mission to praise his lil sis as much as possible in his videos.

Tbh yeah, the worst pain Blaze has ever felt and probably ever will feel was when Finn ripped a chunk of flesh out of his arm in Bait. The wound was 3cm deep. He generally has a fairly high pain tolerance, especially to getting hit or punched, but when he really feels it he doesn't handle it well.

Oof this is an interesting one because there are so many possible "worst" futures for both of them.

For Finn, I suppose it would be his siblings doing something to him, aka having no future at alll. Ghost Marriage technically isn't canon to twst, but after that Finn would have developed a fear of being dragged into the after life. He tries doing research and finding ghost banishing spells and all other kinds of things.

If it were to be a possibility he's unaware of, probably someone trying what Blaze did to him when they were younger (basically jumping him after school and causing some bad injuries) except it being a lot more successful. So probably killing him, even if it might have been unintentional on their end.

For Silas, it's a lot simpler. His business going up in flames? Losing what little respect people have of him? Not having much prey to hunt? None of that comes close to the all-consuming fear he has of losing Finn. For him, nothing could ever be worse than losing Finn.

He's lost his entire family already. His husband, his children, his parents, his grandparents, his siblings, his aunts and uncles, his cousins. He's the only surviving member of his own family. Losing Finn would mean he's truly lost everything, and that he's lost one of the few connections to Morrigan he has (that last one is a bit selfish, and he prefers to pretend it doesn't exist).

That's why he was so overprotective of Finn when Finn was younger. It's why he used up so much magic placing protective spells around his home (some even on Finn) and it's why he currently has to fight his every urge to just keep Finn at home and never let him go. He cannot allow something, anything to happen.

so. there have been certain… incidents regarding ruixing’s biological family and relatives in the past, which of course he feels guilty about—even if it’s not really within his control. of course he’s done other things of his own volition due to necessity, but that’s different. he doesn’t want to be burdened by the weight of what he’s “done” to others, so he represses that kind of feeling or avoids it altogether.

really, it’s easier to just avoid getting close to people who could make him feel guilt.

no, he hasn’t… not yet, anyway. my favorite angst motif is a caged bird

like many of my ocs, he would never admit this aloud, would never risk being that vulnerable—but one of his greatest fears is holding others close to his heart, aka caring for other people. he has no problem with weaponizing his “curse” to ruin people who he dislikes or to get an advantage over them… but when he actually cares about someone’s happiness and wellbeing, what then? when they get hurt because of him again—what then? how can he live with that?

… in the end, to him it’s best to save everyone the trouble and stay away from the idea of interpersonal relationships. best to keep things as distant and possibly “professional” as he can. it’s safer.

…ruixing really wants to be part of a family. not a family bound by blood, but a family that found each other and cares about each other. maybe a family that cares about him. a roof over their heads, plentiful food with which to sustain themselves, the warmth of belonging and love—who wouldn’t want that?

too bad his life is a sick joke being played by the stars and he can’t have that. he’s grown pessimistic over the years, so he isn’t proactive or open about this seemingly foolish desire of his

i'll just say it bluntly--ruixing isn't very comfortable in his own skin. it doesn't come off that way, because he's learned to repress those kinds of feelings, but the fact that his presence always seems to cause or herald some kind of misfortune happening to the people around him? and that he's spent his whole life being coldly reminded of that, and being unwanted for it? well. that's not easy for someone so young to accept and he can't acknowledge it in a healthy manner

soooo i won't go too into it yet bc i'm revealing more abt his backstory one step at a time, but as a young child, ruixing did have a big "mistake"/well-intentioned accident that resulted in his current caretaker choosing to leave him at a poorly-managed orphanage instead. he wasn't really in a position to fix it and still isn't, and he swears he's moved on, but it's more like he sort of just. repressed those feelings
