I didn’t know that ケロ⑨Destiny was sang by Merami Pop ! I knew about this song for a very long time because I grew up with Vocaloid stuff and heard the song Teto territory that is a mix of this song and Cirno’s theme ( I knew about touhou for a very long time, but since I wasn’t interested in its gameplay when I was younger, I haven’t realized that Teto territory was inspired by ケロ⑨Destiny before recently) and I haven’t even realized that it was sang by her, lol. The world is small, I guess! >v<

And thank you so much for sending me these songs by Incredible Forest and sang by Sayuri !!!! It’s no wonder why you call her a legendary diva ; it’s so beautiful ! These Touhou themes are so great, I’m really glad to be able to listen to such beautiful songs that are so close to the themes I like so much ! The parts of the songs that sound very orchestral, at the beginning of the one for Parsee’s theme for example, work so well with Touhou themes and Sayuri’s voice ! (but Parsee’s theme is already so beautiful to begin with). The ones inspired by Yukari, Remilia and Parsee’s theme are my favorites.

I didn’t know if I would like Sekkenya’s music at first, because I expected touhou songs to be sang by women, but I was completely wrong ! It’s really cool, powerful and I love it ! It’s really great to have Youmu’s stage theme (the lyrics of this one are so great!), Mystia’s and Yuugi’s stage themes be really powerful like that ! I probably don’t know everything about these characters' lore and stories, but it seems very fitting and the result is so great! And because I love the other musics they're inspired by and their characters (like keine!) I'm really glad to be able to hear those musics and remember the hours I already spent enjoying these games with such great songs. 🥺

I don’t really know how to run PC98 Touhou games on my computer yet (I’m afraid to do something wrong and wreck my computer, lol) but I would love to play them one day ! And of course, I’ll move to the more recent games soon enough ! I’m really curious about those, but I’m desperately trying to unlock Touhou 7 and Touhou 11’s extra stages before doing that (and I really want to beat Fujiwara no Mokou too!!!)

I wanted to make myself a Touhou fansongs playlist, and from all I've listened to so far, I figured that I really like the ones that are sang by Merami Pop. I don't know if there are other singers or circles that you would recommend (please feel free to name them if that's the case!), but since you mentioned that you really like her, I wonder if you had any recs or favorite songs by this singer that you would like to recommend to me?

She seems to have sang so many songs about Touhou that I don't even know what to start with, except for the few cool songs that youtube's algorithm recommended to me, but I figured that you would know better :')

To be honest, I actually don’t know that many songs by Merami Pop! Aside from Satetsu-no-kuni-no-Alice, which I’ve already recommended, one that I do like is ケロ⑨Destiny (based on Suwako's theme from TH10). But since it has such a different vibe, you might not even realize it’s by the same vocalist. Also, it’s filled with tons of references to what was trendy back then, so it probably seems quite nonsensical if you listen to it now. 😅

She’s a singer with an amazing range, able to perform both serious songs and light, poppy ones like the one above (true to the “Pop” in her name). She’s definitely one of the most skilled Touhou vocalists. That said, many of the songs she sings are quite far from the original (ZUN's) compositions, often featuring a lot of their own melodies, so I actually haven’t listened to as many of them as you might expect. (I’m sure there are others I’ve listened to as well, but I can’t recall them off the top of my head right now...)

I tend to like songs that keep the original melodies mostly intact and simply add lyrics to them. ケロ⑨Destiny above was made by a circle called Silver Forest, which tends to create songs that preserve the original melodies like that, so I’ve listened to a lot of their work! Among their singers, my favorite is さゆり(Sayuri). She’s an absolutely legendary diva in the Touhou fansong scene. Here’s one of her signature songs, based on Yukari's theme from TH07:

She’s also sung songs based on themes for Remilia, Flandre, Yuyuko, and others — all of which stay very close to the original melodies, which is why I love them. I’ll list the links below:

Now for something a bit different — I also love a band called s石鹸屋(Sekkenya)! They’re one of the most famous and longest-running bands in the Touhou fansong community, and I still really enjoy their songs even now. Here’s one of their signature songs, based on Youmu's theme from TH07 5th stage theme (sorry I was wrong!):

Most of the lyrics for this band's songs have been translated on the Touhou wiki! The lyrics for the song above were written with Youmu in mind, which is really nice.

The lineup has changed since then, but at the time, one unique aspect of the band was that they had two vocalists who were actually brothers. In the song above, the younger brother (厚志/Atsushi) is the main vocalist, while in this next song, based on Mystia's theme from TH08, the older brother (秀三/Shuzo) takes the lead:

Sometimes one brother sings solo, but in this song based on the TH11 Stage 3 theme, the combination of both their voices works really well and gives it a unique feel:

Their songs often retain the original melodies almost entirely, so I think you’ll be able to recognize the Touhou tunes right away! I’ll list a few more of my favorite songs from them below:

I'm thinking about adding some new scenes at the end of my MariAli (Touhou) story. It will get MUCH longer than what I first envisioned and it's going to be full of stuff that I've never drawn before but now that I think about it, it would really be a shame to finish the story in some other way. It's going to be a big challenge for me so I might post more things about this section, even if it spoils a bit of the plot! Wish me luck o((>ω< ))o

I finished the OAV Key the Metal Idol recently, and it was really nice!

It's about a robot girl from the countryside who needs to make 30,000 friends to become human. She'll move to Tokyo and try to become an idol to reach her goal but she'll face many enemies and learn many things about the reason of her existence.

I first watched it because I found magnificent screenshots of the OAV online, and because I love medias with robotgirls, and it really wasn't a letdown at all: the visuals are absolutely STUNNING (I spent my time taking screenshots, because it's always really beautiful in every way possible lol).

Maybe because it's an OAV, there's no real censorship I guess, so there are violent scenes and some adult themes involved. I really liked it though, because it's always very relatable, relevant and touching (in my opinion). I'm really glad that I was able to find this beautiful, interesting and touching anime! (you can find it online!)

I have a lot to do these days but I'm back at drawing my MariAli manga <3

I really hope that I'll find more time to draw more fanstories and play Touhou a lot in the future, but for now I mostly draw it at night when I should be asleep and play touhou when I'm not too tired ^^". It gives me more time to think about everything very thoroughly during the day, so the story will probably seem less rushed and prettier than the previous mariali story I made, which is a good thing!
