[Which Tarot Card Are You]
The Hermit
Tagged by: @kaaras-adaar (Thank you!!)
Tagging: Anybody who hasn’t done this yet!
You need to know what makes things tick. You spend a lot of time in your head seeking answers. You're hungry for knowledge and have a need to understand. You can't just dismiss things; you have to know the whys and hows. You'll keep looking until you find the answers, until you find the truth. The more you learn, the more you grow, and you're not afraid to change your beliefs, philosophies, or goals to adapt to the new truth that you uncover.
Material wealth isn't as important to you as spiritual wealth. You are more concerned with growing your soul than growing your bank balance. That's not to say your goal is to be a pauper! No, you'd just rather spend your time reading and researching and learning. You'd rather spend your money on experiences than things. You don't need to be with people all of the time. You're not standoffish or withdrawn, but you do appreciate solitude and the time that you spend in your own company.
Of course, you've got your challenges, just like everyone else. Sometimes you don't take enough time on your own for your meditation and spiritual practice; sometimes you take too much, and it interferes with your family and social obligations. You can get too far out there when it comes to your mystical pursuits, and that can work against you in the long run. You have to always strive to find the balance between being with others and honouring your time alone, and when areas of your life start to put pressure on you, it can create anxiety and frustration until you find a way to balance them.

//YELLS A LOT
I'm sorry for neglecting Ezra and this blog a lot, but muses are fickle and I'm trying very hard not to beat myself up over it. I'm much more active recently over on @elerosselavellan if you're interested in a noodle of an elf!

katariisaamā€Œ:
At least he hadn’t been offended by Isaam’s poor choice of words and for that he was grateful. That allowed to relax again at the very least. Still, he really ought to be more careful with his words. He didn’t need people to put the pieces together about what he used to do. Especially since he was trying to put his past behind him.
ā€œYeah. Definitely got lucky.ā€ He settled back again.
ā€œI dunno, mages kinda get the short end of the stick when it comes to treatment. I got a lot of respect ya’ll and what you do. What you’re capable of an’ all. Its…pretty impressive. Skills like mine almost seem borin’ an’ everyday mundane compared to what I’ve seen some mages do.ā€ He’d always been fascinated and amazed by what people who’d been born into magic could do. He hadn’t always been tolerant of it, of course, but he had always been curious and respected mages for their abilites.
The question still nagged at the back of Ezra’s mind, though Isaam didn’t seem like most indoctrinated Qunari he’d met--though he found himself saying that a lot, so how far did such assumptions truly get him? A slip of words, though, he could look past.Ā
Ezra cocked his head curiously at Isaam’s next statement, looking up from where he’d started cutting the roots into small, even cubes. Eyebrows raised, though he settled into a gentle smile after a moment.
ā€œIt’s... not without its risks, for certain,ā€ he said after a moment dumping a handful of chopped root into the jar.Ā ā€œAnd I wouldn’t sell yourself short. Magic has a time and a place, but it can’t solve everything, you know? It might be flashy and exciting in the moment, but not nearly as useful in day-to-day life.ā€

dragonagedmageā€Œ:
It wasn’t too forward at all! In fact…
ā€œNot at all. I would love for this to become a regular thing between us. IT would allow us both to relax a bit after a hard day’s work. To wind down before retiring for the night.ā€ And it would give them a chance to get to know each other more. He’s not sure how entirely to describe it, but he felt so at ease around Ezra.
Certainly, they had more of a professional relationship during the day, but without the Inquisitor mask on, Yue was seeing that the qunari was…much warmer and more inviting when he wasn’t leading troops to war. Among other things.
There was a lot more to him that he’d originally thought. He wanted to learn more about the In–About Ezra.
A lot more.
His smile broadens into something much more warm.
ā€œI would treasure the opportunity to make this a regular thing with you, my friend.ā€
While he’d had a feeling Yue would say yes, it certainly didn’t hurt to ask. They were busy people after all, and taking time for something as frivolous as tea and companionship... even if it was a necessary distraction from all the doom around them, somehow felt taboo to ask about.
"Good, good...ā€ Ezra said after a moment and shifted in his seat. With the tea and cakes finished and conversation lulling, he found himself floundering a little bit.
ā€œI know I’m hardly the only one who could use a little bit of a distraction now and then,ā€ the Inquisitor laughed, just a small rumbly noise, and glanced down again.Ā ā€œHave you found yourself with much time for yourself? Not to mother-hen you or anything, but I do worry about... basically all of the council.ā€

call-2-armsā€Œ:
Abzi went with the other man, but unlike Ezra, he did not nod in greeting to everyone else. Why should he when he was just another elf. Most still looked down upon him because he was Dalish, let alone a mage. Creators knew what they would think of him if they knew he was a necromancer… Perhaps something he was not so willing to share with most of the Inquisitions people.Ā
He casually moved past the others to keep in toe with the Inquisitor, although the man was rather tall… his legs were long, so strides were made deftly.Ā
As Ezra spoke, Abzi raised his eyes to look back up, surprised by the sudden offer. Oh, he would have loved that opportunity! There were so many interesting plants that he didn’t know around these locations, or he’d only heard of in passing.Ā
Tumblr media
ā€œYou would be so generous as to give me such knowledge?ā€ he asked, curiosity in his voice as he unpacked the load of roots he’d taken and joined them at the table.Ā
ā€œIn turn, I suppose I could teach you of the plants back home, or through my travels. You may even be able to purchase such rarities in markets here… I had not thought of that. Inquisitor has its perks, I dare say,ā€ he grinned as he nodded.
ā€œHmmm, I will take your offer. I may as well do something while I am here.ā€ He pulled at some of the leaves.Ā ā€œThese will do good dry.ā€Ā
Ezra made a small noise of agreement and continued his work separating roots and leaves, though he focused on the leaves for now, cutting them into smaller pieces so they could fit into his mortar and pestle more easily to be crushed.Ā
ā€œOf course, doubly so if we’re getting some in return, but that kind of specialized skill is worth a lot in times like this,ā€ he replied and met Abzi’s glance with a little smile.Ā ā€œI wish we had time to dry these out here, but we’ll probably be on the other side of the Hinterlands or back to Haven by the time they’re finished. That’s alright, though. A poultice of raw spindleweed leaves is pretty good for easing aches and pains.ā€
His movements were easy and practiced, obviously familiar with the sort of work he’d started.
ā€œWe can sort out the actual details when we get back to Haven, of course...ā€

kaaras-adaarā€Œ:
All night sounded perfect. Just the two of them. Well… the two of them and Ginger, but the cat had grown up between the two of them, they were practically dads to the big ball of fur. They may never be able to have children of their own, but they had Ginger, and… perhaps adoption was an option if Ezra was comfortable with that. It was something they’d need to talk about, after all of this Inquisition business was over, or at least the threat of Corypheus.Ā
As their lips pressed together, Kaaras’ eyes closed, and welcomed that second one, although he didn’t allow Ezra to escape just yet. He moved his hand and let Ginger jump down to the floor between their feet as he took Ezra’s cheek into his own and kissed him again, this one deeper and longer until his lungs screamed for air.Ā
ā€œMmmā€¦ā€ he hummed, licking off the taste of Ezra’s kiss, and the cream filled pastries they’d both eaten, dusted with cinnamon sugar. His hands moved to Ezra’s chest before they ran down his arms, collecting his hands into his own and lifting a knuckle to his lips.Ā
Tumblr media
ā€œHonestly, every time I’m with you, I just want to feel your body against mine, warm and… nude.ā€ He felt his cheeks warm, even after all this time. Maker, they’d done far worse that just snuggle naked together, and yet he still blushed like an idiot.Ā
ā€œThere’s nothing more intimate than getting to just spend time with you, away from everything and everyone.ā€Ā
As the kiss parted, slow and breathless when they finally needed to come out for air, Ezra simply took in the sight of his lover in front of him, watching as he kissed the backs of Ezra’s knuckles. It was a tenderness he’d always craved, but even to that day still felt some wonder that it was directed at him, that he deserved that sort of softness.
ā€œThat’s what these evenings are for,ā€ he said gently and bent down to carefully bump their foreheads together, horn base against horn base, as he simply relished in being close to his lover in a way he often didn’t get the chance to be during the day.Ā ā€œThe tea should be just about ready, you go get comfy and I’ll be right over... and you can tell me more about how you’d like to spend the evening.ā€
Apparently the little nap on his desk had refreshed Ezra, or perhaps just being with Kaaras again, but he gave the Inquisitor’s hands one more soft squeeze and stepped back to pour out two cups of tea now that it had finished steeping.

katariisaamā€Œ:
He tried to think about Ezra, younger, smaller, running around and gathering herbs and sorting them much like he was now in an older woman’s shop. It was a cute image. Much different than that of his own childhood, he had to admit.
It sounded nice.
He settled a bit, back resting against a nearby pillar as he listened.
ā€œTake it there weren’t that many magesĀ ā€˜round to show ya the ropes on being a mage?ā€ He paused a moment, cheeks flushing in embarrassment. He realized that might not have been the best analogy to use, given what he remembered the Qun doing to those who had come into magic.Ā
ā€œAh…wait, that sounded wrong, sorry. I mean. There were too many magesĀ ā€˜round to help?ā€Ā
If he was being perfectly honest, he probably would have been happy staying there, taking over Mireia’s shop, living as a small-town healer and never leaving Rivain, but he understood why his parents had pushed him to a more mobile lifestyle that eventually led him here, to this tiny house on the top of a mountain in the far south.
Though he cocked a brow at Isaam’s exact choice of words--and biting back the question of just how close his relationship to that sort of practice was--Ezra gave a gentle smile and held up a hand to ease his concern.
ā€œYou’re good, don’t worry,ā€ the healer laughed.Ā ā€œBut you’re not wrong, my parents didn’t trust the circle, but I wasn’t old enough to start traveling, so I got about as lucky as I could have, given the circumstances I guess, even someplace as... friendly towards magic as Rivain can be.ā€

katariisaamā€Œ:
ā€œYeah. Definitely a stroke of luck, that’s for sure. Be outta a job if I love my fingers or something. Most of us would be at least.ā€ He felt so at ease around Ezra. Its not because he was around another qunari, but he just couldn’t pinpoint the reason why he was so calm around him.
He’s brought out of his thoughts once Ezra’s speaks again, looking around for the jar the other qunari had mentioned. He’s careful with the glass object , almost comically so, as he picks it up from the shelf and hands its over.
ā€œSo…I’m actually kinda curious. How’d you get into doin’ this? The herbs an such, I mean.ā€ Isaam had never been the best at identifying and remembering the uses for plants. He knew some of the basics like elfroot and deathroot,Ā  but some of the plant Ezra had removed from the crate were far from recognizable to him.
Equally careful, Ezra accepted the jar and set it beside his work station as he began work on the spindleweed, separating stems and peeling the tough skin off the tuberous roots. All the while, he continued to glance up at Isaam, still listening, and gave a small chuckle in agreement. Fingers, at least a majority of them, were necessary for most jobs there.
At his question, though, Ezra gave a little bit of a shrug, but his smile had turned a little fond, a little nostalgic.
ā€œAh, it’s always been something of a passion, but when I was first coming into my magic, I... uh... trained under a mage who also did more mundane healing, herbs and all that. In exchange for training my magic, I helped around her shop until I was old enough to go on the road, and you know mercenaries are always needing to be put back together, so I just never really stopped I guess.ā€ He shrugged, looking a little sheepish for having rambled on like that.
ā€œThe natural plants down here are a little different than what I’m used to, but... elfroot is elfroot no matter where you go.ā€

dragonagedmageā€Œ:
He’s not sure why he’s thinking about them at a time like this. Certainly, they’d been speaking about family and siblings not five minutes ago, but he’d hardly ever thought about his siblings since they’d left the clan so long ago. And it wasn’t as if he’d been particularly close to them, either. He hadn’t really considered them siblings so much as they were just clanmates. Hatchlings from the same brood, really.
He’s startled by the looming shadow, having not expected Ezra to get closer to him. For a moment, drawing into those violet eyes, he believed him. Believed that he would see at least some of his siblings again. See some family again. But not all of course.
He hesitates a moment before he smiles again, nodding.
ā€œYes, I’m sure I’ll run across them at some point once this is all over.ā€
ā€œI certainly hope so,ā€ Ezra said quietly as he sat back into his chair once again, seemingly satisfied with that answer. He wanted to press further, curious about Yue’s family, about anything about his advisor really--the more they spoke, the more Ezra realized he really didn’t know much about the elf beside him--but something about the other man’s tone gave him pause.Ā
Instead, he just smiled and folded his hands in front of him as he rested, content and relaxed and so far from the stern presence of the Lord Inquisitor he often had to project. Maker, he hadn’t truly gotten to relax with someone else like this in what felt like ages.
ā€œYue...ā€ he started slowly, cautious, but his smile was hopeful.Ā ā€œPlease, stop me if this is too forward, but... would you like to make this a regular thing? Tea time, or... just some time set aside for ourselves?ā€
