Several posts ago I told about the necromancer from the fantasy novel whose image was based on Steven’s appearance and lyrics. This text is currently in progress, but I like it so much that decided to make some illustrations. <3

I'll maybe get a ban for this but I don't care, as I also don't care about such things as politeness.

After some time online and a little bit of research I am clearly sure, that Steven Wilson's audience is one of the most toxic communities ever. Almost anything that he creates including every Porcupine Tree album, even In Absentia, gets incredibly intense criticism from those who name themselves his fans or admirers. I can easily understand why he ignores any feedback online.

Just one visit to Facebook communities or YouTube comments gives you an image that according to "fans":

FTB is shit;

To The Bone is crap;

Permanating is fucking awful;

Steven is married? R.I.P;

Lazarus eeew;

Blackfield 1/2/pick the number is shit;

Who's this Jewish prick fuck him and all Israelis;

The Incident is boring shit;

*any PT album* mostly is bad;

Steven is degrading;

Is also an asshole for being creatively independent;

And for not serving his "fans"...

And following his own musical interests...

How dare he, the slave of the audience...

Suddenly there's only one sacred thing for them - Gavin. And it's ridiculous, because there's a very few ones who are familiar with drumming or musical theory, and the rest won't be able to say without seeing is it him or Chris or other drummer playing.

I can't believe that so many grownups don't get that it's the question of taste and every record has it's own audience. They don't say "I don't like this". They say strictly "This is shit".

So here's the conclusion. If you don't want to be a pathetic piece of so many times mentioned here shit, just keep listening to the things that you like and ignore the rest. It's so мать вашу simple. The musician has spent months creating his records, this is his reality and his unprotected open heart. If you want some prog, just go and find some prog bands, there's thousands of them.
