RED HOUSE : LIMITED EDITION LINOPRINT

Hand-printed limited edition 5 colour layered lino print of a red house in a Scandinavian scene with hot air balloon in the sky above.  (This print was designed for a Bier Haus and their Scandinavian Beer take-over / event specifics were printed in the blank stripe.) Each print is inked and pressed by hand, in 5 layers of colour - each with slight differences to the pressure and relief, and on different paper stock - this one is on handmade Japanese paper from Awagami. 29.5cm x 20.7cm Packaged in cellophane protective sleeve and with hard cardboard backing.

Motoharu Asaka and Louise Rouse delivered a wonderful mokuhanga workshop at Krowji studios in Redruth, Cornwall and I attended with my friend Sarah Johnson - UK clothes designer and maker www.bysarahjohnson.co.uk. Here are a few photos taken on the day, showing different stages - carving the block, the barren inking stage, the reveal, and the finished pieces.
