Zhongli x Reader x Xiao Agnst?  Note: This thought came to me while me and my friend were talking about how much I’m saving for Xiao but I already have a Zhongli and I need to stop hoarding the luck because she keeps getting Qiqi

You were another god who was a friend of Guizhong whom she helped, entering a contract with Morax to help your people in time of war.

As such you both mourned her death and found friendship/bond in each other’s company. 

You didn’t want to notice it, the way Morax’s eyes linger when you’re together or how his hand stays in yours a second too long for it to be friendly. To you he was a best friend, companion and protector and you’d want for it to stay that way.

Things change when he brings home an adeptus, Xiao, Alastus as he was once called. You cared for him, taking pity and heart broken after Morax confides that even he is conflicted on how to help the young one. 

Your hands linger when you give him medicine, taking extra care in making them in your abode. Running up to Xiao with eyes twinkling with happiness and relief as you welcome him back with the other yakshas. 

It is no doubt, to anyone’s eyes but Morax’s, that you are deeply in love, and if only celestia would permit you two would be together but you can’t because after all this time you don’t have the heart to break Morax’s heart who has asked for your hand in marriage. 

“What do you think of Xiao?” You asked Morax once, while you stroll through the fields. “I see him quite lively as much as he could be. There’s a shine in his eyes, these days, and it’s all thanks to you. Truly, who can compare to your kind heart?” He looks at you with such soft eyes that once were only for the glaze lilies.  

It’s not his fault, really. Maybe you should’ve stopped and talked to him before, instead of ignoring and hoping that those feelings he held for you would be forgotten over time. Maybe you should’ve no, when he proposed because now you have no one to blame but yourself.

As you walk towards your groom, the adeptis present and most importantly Xiao who stood next to his lord. You love him, but you are bound by your friendship with Morax, or was it guilt because you couldn’t bear to see his eyes filled with tears for a love lost once more?

And even after a thousand years, you don’t have the heart to leave him

But you still love someone else, so you’ll always have a halfhearted marriage where you have to imagine your husband as someone else.

All the while, Xiao nurses his broken heart in silence, never speaking of love that he lost to his lord yet eternally bound by duty and trust to watch over them.

You never expected to one day witness a person so drunk that they couldn’t stand on their shaky legs without falling, be able to sing with the most beautiful voice you had ever heard.

Especially not if said person was a god.

Angel’s share was the most popular tavern in all of Mondstadt if not all of Teyvat and was absolutely never empty.

Even in the morning, late or early patrons would come across one another as they came into the place for a drink.

It was especially crowded the nights either when master Diluc was taking Charles’ shift, when new beverages had arrived or when famous bards came to sing to their hearts’ desires.

That night, all three of these conditions were met and as Diluc poured Venti his nth glass of dandelion wine, the bard erupted into another song.

You always loved listening to him, from a corner of the tavern or right next to him, as long as his angelic voice reached your ears and gave goosebumps to your skin even though your whole body felt as if it was on fire, you were content.

He got up from his seat at the bar where you were admiring him seconds ago, just a few inches away from his face, and sang louder and louder until the whole crowd was focused on him and solely him, his singing seemed to put a spell on them as they all sang after him.

He was amazing, so amazing truly, even if he wasn’t an archon you had no doubt he would still mesmerize everyone that was lucky enough to cross paths with him.

Venti was not one to stray away from attention and everyone knew that, everyone knew how he was born to be the center of everyone’s focus and how he adored when his peoples’ eyes were on him. Everyone knew how talented he was and how unique his prestations were.

Everyone knew how peculiar his personality was and how this mystic aura seemed to emanate from him.

Something that was unknown to most people though, was that amongst everyone watching him, only one pair of eyes was actually important and worth risking it all for. Yours.

Your captivating orbs seemed to have been the ones to bewitch him, putting him under a silent spell that he couldn’t rid himself off.

Well, not that he wanted to anyways!

As he got on his feet to drag the crowd into his prestation, he turned to you, his green eyes gleamed the same way his hair suddenly did and you had to quickly get up after him and grab the end of his braids to try and hide the way the tips started to glow.

“Venti be careful! You’re drunk-”

He didn’t stop singing, but had a breathless laugh in the middle of a lyric which made you smell the wine off his breath. Your eyes dropped to his mouth and the second he noticed it, he dived right into you, crashing his lips onto yours quickly before resuming his song.

Archons protect you, because as your heart suddenly swelled with love for the singing bard, you swore you could never love anyone again as much as you loved him in that instant.

“You guys are unbelievable!” you finally snapped and looked up to them.

They had stopped their bickering to look at you, both of them shut up. They never expected you to raise your voice at them.

“You are so ungrateful and stupid! I thought that amongst everyone in this town you would have understood how it felt for me to have lost my only family but here you guys are, arguing still after years of this stupid fight having gone down!”

Diluc crossed his arms and tried to open his mouth to answer you but you were quicker, your flow of words not slowing down.

“You make me feel so, so miserable. Every day I miss my sibling so much, I would give up everything I have in order to see their smile again, just to be able to hold them in my arms one last time. You have the chance to be alive, to be with one another and you’re wasting your time, until it’s too late, with the past.”

Your eyes teared up and you sobbed into the arm you had raised to cover your reddening face.

“You aren’t moving on, you’re staying frozen in place and ruining your relationship with each day that goes by!” Your eyes teared up and you sobbed into the arm you had raised to cover your reddening face. “How can you be so blind?!”

Kaeya whispered your name and tried to take a step closer to you, his eyes having grown soft and his facade having fallen down.

You took a step back as he approached and looked at him, then at his brother who looked the opposite way.

“I can’t stand this anymore. Just... I’ll leave.”
