“I’ve been inside your house, and I am telling you, it’s not gonna fit. This is a fifteen foot tall tree, Elijah, you’re looking for 12 feet max. If you don’t want to put a star on top of it.” The tree in question towers imposingly before them, blocking the sun with its emerald green branches. The fact that it’s even in her lot is a long complicated story involving tree vendors and miscommunication and one very indignant christmas tree farmer.

“CeCe would kill you, and then she would feel bad about it, soooooo I can’t in good conscience let you take this tree. Plus don’t you usually pick out the tree together? Last year I distinctly remember having to pluck several of The Children out of my trees.”

“It would fit in the living room, probably.” Eli looked at the tree, tall and beautiful after all. “I mean like next to the banister...probably.” The alpha was tired, Laurel was likely right, but he’d never admit that out loud. Arms crossed over his chest, Eli turned to look at the other trees. “I could take this one off the lot for outside of city hall?” He tried, “And something smaller for the house.” 

At the woman’s question, he smilled. “You do care,” the alpha teased, “But I was trying to take something off her hands. I feel like I haven’t been around as often as I should be for her or the kids. I was just going to grab the tree and then we would decorate it together.”

It was hard to pretend that everything was fine. Eli was on edge, hyper focused on making sure that nothing was going wrong. No one was getting hurt, every little noise, yelp, scream- though most had to do with the activities, had the Alpha trying to focus on 2000 things at once. It wasn’t until a little one’s rogue snowball hit the back of his head did he smile, wiping off the snow and laughing a little. “At least someone is having fun.”

his touch never fails to ignite her, no matter how busy her day had been. cece stands in their living room, surrounded by a day´s worth of mess when her husband finds her. she leans into his chest, hands rising to grasp his and pull them up to her face. ¨i don´t think you have either,¨ she speaks softly just before pressing a kiss to the inside of his palm. ¨but that´s okay. i already know.¨ in a fluid movement, she spins around, stopping so that their noses just barely brush. ¨would you like to know something bizarre?¨

Her touch set fire to his skin, her movements were so fluid it was like she wasn’t real. His hands went back to her hips as she faced him, smiling a little more as she spoke. “Something bizarre? From you? I’d love to hear it.”

With the kids all in bed, Eli wasted no time finding his wife. Alone time felt like a rarity. Fingers were quick to rest on her hips as he snuck up behind her, lips peppering kisses down the woman’s neck. He truly was the luckiest man in the whole world to have this incredible woman on his side, to have her be his second in command of the small army they’ve brought into this world themselves.

Being the spoiled daughter she was a small pout formed on her face before turning into a smile. “I’m sure we could ask your manager to relieve you of that. It seems like something above your pay grade anyways.” She welcomed the act of affection returning it with a hug of her own. Somedays she regretted moving out of the family home, but liked the freedom it brought. “I miss you too and it’s good. Rent and bills are paid on time and I just added a new bulb to one of my lamps that changes colors.” Looking at her watch she asked. “How much time do you have before you have to resume your patrols?”

He was truly proud of her, doing things on her own and doing well. “A color changing lightbulb? I’m going to get you to come over and do that at the house.” He hummed, looking at his phone for a second before pocketing it once more. “I go out every couple hours,” He hummed, “So as long as your mother knows I’m okay, I can stay for a minute or two.”

🙉what are two things that make my muse uncomfortable in conversation

Over invasive questions are a big one. Eli will talk brag about his family to anyone he knows, but being in the public eye means that everyone knows of Emett and his wife and all his kids. Sometimes people will ask things that he's not even sure how they know, and it freaks him out at times.

The other would be just having people around that he doesn’t trust. He cares too much about his pack to let bad people hang around.

Violet tried to steady her breath as she closed her eyes to get herself back in order. She needed to work on being so jumpy around people, but it was still a process. She opened her eyes again and gave him an apologetic smile. “ I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scream. I’m fine, I promise. I just scare easy. “ She noted before looking up t him slightly alarmed again. “ Wait? What time is it?”

“Oh don’t apologize! It happens to the best of us. I just want to make sure you’re okay. I didn’t step on your foot or anything, did I?” When her attention turned to curfew, he shook his head.”Oh no no, you still have plenty of time.” he paused, for just a moment to watch her, “I just hate that people forget at times. It’s an adjustment we’re all making.”

“He was a good friend. Someone I got coffee with in the mornings before work so we got to know each other. I think it’s rough when I see all the flowers and stuff at his apartment door all the time. Just this constant reminder.” Effie didn’t mean to ramble but he had all but offered so she thought it was ok for a minute. “I appreciate that. I’m Effie. Councilman sounds like a big deal of a job.”

Eli nodded, watching her for a second before offering a hand on her shoulder. “I truly am sorry for you loss, I can understand how that’s hard.” The man noted the subject change and he nodded. “It’s overrated.” He laughed, shrugging. “It’s alright though, you get to meet a lot of people.”
