Close your eyes
Alexia Putellas x reader
Inspired by the song "Close Your Eyes And Count To Ten" by GroupLove
You and Alexia take a moment to yourselves on your wedding night, soaking in your time together.
Mind-numbingly fluffy. A little obsessed with how soft and sweet this is. Genuinely one of my favorite songs, go give it a listen.

“Yeah we lay down in the sand, you took my clothes off with your hands,  I gotta say you look real pretty,  all the way from New York City”
“Hey,” Alexia leaned into your side, whispering in your ear. “Do you want to get out of here for a second? Just the two of us?”
You looked over at your wife with a shy smile on your face. Your wife. Oh how long you’d been waiting to call her that- your wife. You gave her a quick nod, excited to finally have a minute alone with her. You had both been so busy today, so caught up in making sure everything went smoothly. It was turning out to be the wedding of your dreams, both of your dreams, but neither of you really cared. You would’ve been happy getting married alone in a courthouse if it meant you’d finally get to call Alexia your wife.
She beamed at your response and took your hand, leading you outside, away from all your wedding guests. You were desperate for a few minutes alone, not for anything promiscuous, (not that you would mind it) but just to take in the moment with her. For a day that was supposed to be all about celebrating each other, you had gotten a shockingly small amount of time together.
Alexia quickened her pace once you made it outside. You giggled at her and how excited she was to get you away from the guests while she pulled you along.
“Ale, slow down, where are we going?” you were still laughing, doing your best to keep up but struggling in your wedding heels. She finally slowed to a stop and turned to face you, lacing both of your hands together.
You weren’t sure if you had ever seen her smiling so big. Not even after winning the world cup had she looked as genuinely elated as she did right now. “I thought we could go down to the beach for a few minutes?” She pressed a kiss to your nose, looking at you hopefully. Her face was like a little kid who was begging for more sweets.
“That sounds perfect, Ale.” you leaned up to kiss her once more before she turned and pulled you towards the beach once again. The two of you were running hand in hand and giggling endlessly as you made your way towards the sand. It was like a scene from a rom com that everyone said was too cheesy or too unrealistic. But not for you and Alexia.
As soon as you reached sand, Alexia slowed to a stop once again so both of you could take off your shoes. Neither of you were about to attempt running around in your heels in the sand. With the sand between your toes, Alexia’s hand returned to yours, leading you at a much more leisurely pace.
In the time you’d been together, the two of you spent a significant amount of time at the beach, somehow always managing to end up there after a long day. You’d had many dates there and of course it was wear she proposed. It only seemed fitting that you’d end up there on your wedding day too.
You walked silently, just taking in the night, listening to the waves crashing against the shore. The moon and the distant buildings were the only source of light as you stared up at your new wife, admiring her features as you walked. This wasn’t unusual for you but it was different today.
Alexia was wearing the most perfect white jumpsuit with a matching jacket. The white stood out against her sun-kissed skin and the curls in her hair perfectly framed her face. As soon as she noticed you staring, she pulled you to a stop, leaning down to kiss you. It was one of the softest kisses you had ever shared with her, filled with devotion to each other. One of her hands still held yours softly and the other came up to caress your face as you spoke.
“Alexia Putellas, I love you so much.”
“Mmm, and I love you, mi amor. More than you know,” she kissed you again, before pulling you slightly to join her in the sand. “Come, come sit.”
It’s not like you needed convincing. You’d do just about anything for her at this point, trusting her more than you trust yourself. It didn’t matter if the sand made your dress dirty or stained her jacket. All that mattered was you sitting in your wife’s arms, taking in this time together.
You sat facing each other, foreheads pressed together, one of her arms around your shoulders to keep you close. The two of you rotated between kissing each other and just admiring the beauty you shared- the beauty of your relationship. The more Alexia kissed you, the more you drifted away from the real world. Everything disappeared with her.
You linked your hands behind her neck, pulling your wife into you, closer than seemed possible. It was almost difficult for you to keep kissing, being interrupted by both of your constant smiles and giggles.
“Ale, you’re so pretty, you know that?”
She hummed in response before peppering more kisses over your face, loving the way you giggled at her. “I think you’ve mentioned it before, amor.”
You slid your hands down from her neck to her shoulders, pushing her jacket off of her so you could lay a line of kisses down her shoulder. Instead of continuing your kisses, you just laid your head on her bare shoulder, taking in the warmth of her skin.
You let out a content sigh, “today is so perfect, Ale.”
Her only response was a kiss to the top of your head, something she knew always brought you comfort.
“And the sunlight in your eyes,  pins and needles no surprise,  and the moon shines in your hair,  can you believe it, we're really here.”
“Can you believe that it’s actually our wedding day, amor?” You looked up at her with curiosity, confused by what she meant. “Like it’s actually our wedding day. The day we’ve been planning for so long and will tell our kids about and will hang pictures of in our house. I just love it, it’s perfect. We’re perfect.” She kissed you again, communicating all of her emotions through just that one kiss.
“You’re the cutest, Ale.”
“You’re the only one allowed to say that.” You both laughed lightly at the statement, knowing how true it was.
The light from the moon shining off the water made it clear that tears had pooled in her eyes. “Estas Bien?” You spoke softly, running your thumb under her eyes to catch any tears before they had the chance to fall.
“Más que bien. Estoy perfecto. No sabía que era posible ser tan feliz.” Her words were watery, overflowing with emotion. Alexia didn’t often allow herself to feel this deeply so you knew how sincere she was.
If you were being honest, you were barely holding it together yourself. Nobody made you feel as comfortable as the woman sitting in front of you now. You were so unapologetically yourself with her and she had truly changed your life for the better.
She had pulled you in tightly against her, holding you tighter than ever before. Her strong hold on you communicated the deep level of appreciation she held for you. And there you sat. On the beach, on your wedding night, in each other's arms, encapsulated by the love you shared.
“And it’s all handled, you close your eyes and count to ten”
You would stay like this forever if you could, perfectly safe from anything bad in the world, perfectly at home in your wife’s arms. But of course you knew this moment couldn’t last forever.
A small sigh left your mouth, knowing you should go back to your guests, “Ale, we should probably head back soon.”
She responded with a groan, knowing you were right but also not wanting this moment to end. “Let’s just take one more minute?” You gave her a look, knowing she’d likely try to draw it out longer until you forgot about the people waiting for you back at the venue. “Amor, everything’s taken care of. Just close your eyes for a second.” Her hands joined yours and once again your foreheads pressed together as her words turned to a whisper and you followed her directions. “Just breathe. Just take a minute to take this in before we have to go back there.” She gave your hands a squeeze as you both just sat, basking in the moment. You wished you could cement this memory in your brain forever and never let go of it.
After a few moments and some shared deep breaths, you slowly separated from each other. Alexia leaned in for one more passionate kiss before standing up and offering you her hand to join her. “Now,” she kissed your knuckles, “we’ve got a room full of every single one of our favorite people all waiting for us. Let’s go celebrate with them.”
“Talking about
talking. Talking about how you wanna live, we’ll call it metamorphosis”
The two of you returned to walking down the beach, back towards your wedding reception. You could hardly believe it. How lucky you were to be here with the love of your life, about to be surrounded by both of your loved ones. As you walked, one hand held your shoes and the other held your wife, swinging gleefully between you. You both giggled and talked, mostly nonsense hypotheticals about your futures.
“So, Ale, would you rather have a kid that sucks at football, or never get to have a dog?”
“Amorrrrrrr, why would you make me pick that? How would that even be a scenario?” You responded with more laughter, entertained by how she whined at you over the nonsensical question. The further you walked, the more ridiculous your questions became, eventually just turning into nonsense laughter between you.
When you arrived back in front of your wedding venue, you both came to a stop. “Amor, let me help you put your shoes back on before we go in.” Alexia knelt down in front of you, gently closing the buckle that went around your ankles. You shivered slightly as she pressed a kiss to the inside of your ankle bone before standing up to join you.
“I love you so much, Ale. So so much.”
“Mmm te amo mucho, mi amor.” She kissed you hard. “Now let’s go celebrate, yeah?” You smiled up at your wife as you pulled her behind you, returning to the wedding reception of your dreams.

Love Prevails Part 2
You struggle to keep the abuse a secret from both Alexia and your teammates
Part 1
Shamelessly put my own experience in here, this is lowkey very healing to write
Had to put the good old “who did this to you” trope in here because I’m a sucker for it, I admit it
More angst but also a lot more comfort
Trigger warning: Physical abuse, verbal abuse, manipulation and some gaslighting
-
Last night is still a bit hazy in your memory as you stand in front of the mirror, layering another few dots of concealer onto the bruise next to your eye. It still hurts horribly and you hiss when you dab over it with your little sponge. The noise is enough to alert your girlfriend who appears in the doorway to the bathroom behind you. You wish nothing more than to go back to how it was before but the sight of her makes your heart race in panic again even as she gives you a sweet smile. It falls a bit when you flinch away from her touch, though she doesn’t get mad thankfully, awkwardly rubbing her neck as she musters you.
“Are you sure you want to go to training?”
She leans against the counter, arms crossed and a worried expression on her face. It’s stupid how much this small act of care makes your heart swell with hope that this was just a one time thing and she won’t do it again. She obviously regrets it, right?
“I don’t want anyone to see the
 yeah you know.”
Oh. It stings a bit that she’s apparently more concerned about anyone noticing what has been going on but you’re not in the mood to fight so you just assure her that the makeup will hold and hurry to tie your hair up, feeling like you’re about to suffocate if you stay in this tiny bathroom with her any longer.
You let her kiss you goodbye, certain that she would be unhappy with you if you don’t and try to shake off the shiver that goes through you when she steps closer to you. This feeling will pass and once the memory of yesterday has faded a bit you will feel secure and safe with her again, you’re sure of that. It’s just a rough patch. And she cried her eyes out last night while she held you, sobbing and promising she would never do that to you again and that she’s sorry. You believe her, the emotions just took over and you know how jealous she gets so this was on you as well. Though that little voice in the back of your head keeps telling you to run as far as you can.
At training you can pretend that everything is fine for a moment, tuning out as Mapi gives you a rundown of her day yesterday with a little too many details of what she and Ingrid got up to. You barely even notice, more focused on not rubbing the makeup off of your eye that feels a bit itchy underneath the twenty layers. You shrug it off when Irene asks what you got so dolled up for, the mascara you have on along with the heavy concealer to hide the small bit of swelling gaining her attention since you usually don’t bother to do that for training - the sweat from working out normally taking it off anyway.
When Mapi suddenly makes a playful punching move towards you to gain your attention again you flinch away so violently that you stumble backwards onto the bench. Thankfully most people have already left the changing room but it does gain you a few concerned looks from the ones that are still there. You expect them to make a joke, to make fun of your overreaction but nothing comes. Instead Mapi reaches out very carefully, putting a gentle hand on your lower arm as you try to keep your breathing under control.
“Lo siento mucho, I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.”
You have to work hard to keep the tears down that are threatening to well up as you just shake your head and insist that you’re fine and just didn’t sleep well which made you a bit more jumpy than usual. From the look that both Mapi and Irene share neither believes you. You don’t really notice, eyes focused on your shoelaces as you try to take a deep breath. If you break down into tears right here they will probably think you’ve completely lost it.
“¿Todo bien?” It’s Alexia’s voice, the Catalan having originally only entered the room again to get her water bottle from her bag but getting curious when she sees Mapi and Irene both standing over your slumped form on the bench.
You don’t know what’s being said, the gush of whispered Spanish too fast for your ears as you still struggle to keep your breathing even.
It’s so stupid, it was just a small joke from Mapi and nothing she hasn’t done before. You know she would never hit you and never hurt you on purpose. But you can’t help but think that that’s exactly what you had thought about your girlfriend too.
You don’t notice how Alexia sends Mapi and Irene away, you also aren’t aware of how much space she carefully keeps between the two of you as she crouches down in front of where you’re sitting, your mind just focusing on inhaling and exhaling.
“Are you okay?”
It’s stupid, really stupid but the concerned tone and the simple question is more than enough to bring the tears you’ve worked so hard to repress up and in the next second you’re full on crying, desperately trying to press your hands to your face to hide it, despite how much it stings to push against your bruise.
Usually Alexia wouldn’t hesitate to hold you, something she has done before when you got stressed out and struggled with the constant pressure. This time she isn’t sure if you’re okay with any physical contact considering what Mapi just told her. You can feel her warm hand on your shoulder, the touch so light that it doesn’t aggravate the injury from yesterday. You lean into it, desperate for some comfort and seeing you do that, Alexia doesn’t hesitate any longer. She’s still incredibly gentle, her arms carefully wrapping around you as she comes to sit next to you on the bench.
For a few moment the only sound is Alexia’s murmured and comforting voice as she tries to calm you, along with your quiet sobs. She encourages you to just let it out, only ensuring that you don’t forget to take a few deep breaths in between.
When you finally pull away you forget about the bruise and especially the makeup on top of it for a moment, wiping the tears away before you realise what you just did as soon as you feel the stinging pain from the action.
Your fingers are covered in concealer and you know that enough of the layers have been cried off by the scrutinising look Alexia gives you. Her gaze is unusually hard as she stares at the now barely covered dark blue and purple mark that is covering the upper left side of your face.
“Who did this?”
“I fell-“
“No me mientas, who did it?”
For a moment you debate on telling her, on being open about what happened. But you know if you do that she will never let you go back to your girlfriend and you don’t want that either. You love her and she loves you, there’s no doubt about it. It was just an accident. And maybe you did provoke her, it’s understandable that she doesn’t want you to wear somebody else’s jacket, right?
So, sniffling but still determined you get up, frantically searching your bag for a tissue to wipe your tears and step away from the comfort of Alexia’s arms.
“Can you tell Jona that I’m not feeling well and went home?”
“No no no, don’t run, just tell me what happened por favor, I can help you-“
You ignore what she said, knowing that you’ll likely just break down into tears once more if you see her empathetic look any longer.
“Thanks.”
With that you push yourself past her and through the door, hurrying towards the parking lot still wearing your boots and entire training gear.
When you arrive at home your girlfriend is there, a surprised look on her face at your appearance though it quickly darkens when she sees that your makeup is wiped off. Instead of asking if you’re okay the first question she poses while you’re changing into different clothes is what happened.
You give her a slightly different version of the events, knowing that she’d probably not be happy about you letting Alexia comfort you. She stays silent while you put on your tracksuit, watching with a brooding expression and crossed arms as you walk over to the couch. Once you’ve settled there she speaks up again.
“You wouldn’t tell anyone what happened, right? They wouldn’t understand that I didn’t mean it, they don’t know our relationship and how you provoked me.”
“I provoked you?” Your voice sounds small next to hers as she gives you a small smile and shaker her head, one arm grabbing you as she pulls you closer to her.
“I didn’t mean it like that
But you know how I am, don’t you? Showing up here in the jacket of someone else
” She tuts quietly, sending you a disapproving look as she pats your shoulder. She doesn’t react to the small flinch from you at the action, the bruises from where she had grabbed you and pushed you against the door last night still very painful.
The sting of the touch along with the memory of what she can do to you when she gets mad is enough to keep you silent even as you want to protest, want to tell her that it’s unfair that she gets to wear clothes from her friends with no issue but has the right to lose it like that when you borrow the jacket of someone else because you’re cold. Deep down you know this isn’t right but if you say something now she will get so angry again and you definitely don’t want to risk that. So you keep quiet, agreeing to let her cook something nice for you before you go do your skincare to get the rest of the makeup off.
The look in the mirror displeases you as you try to convince yourself that you can just cover it up again and Alexia hopefully won’t tell anyone what she saw. You know that’s wishful thinking though, the Catalan nothing short of stubborn and incredibly protective. She won’t let this rest until she knows what’s going on.
You try to ignore it, putting on a smile as you eat your girlfriend’s dinner despite not being hungry in the slightest. You also offer to do the dishes, grateful for the bit of space it gives you again as she gets comfortable on the sofa.
When you join her later she puts a movie on, this time more careful as she rubs over your arm. Usually you’re quick to fall asleep in these situations, something she always jokes about. She often carries you to bed then, careful as she tucks you in and joins you after she turned the TV off. It always makes you happy when you wake up in your warm bed the next day with her by your side holding you close.
Now though, you just can’t shut your brain off. You’re exhausted, wanting nothing more than just close your eyes and slip away to sleep for a while but you can’t. Every time you can feel your eyes fluttering a bit close you’re reminded of the burning pain on your face when she hit you, the way you couldn’t hear anything but ringing for a moment. How she held you while you struggled to breathe and sobbed about how sorry she was. It sends your heart racing again and again until you decide to get up and excuse yourself to the bathroom for a moment.
You take your time brushing your teeth despite the fact that you had already done that earlier after dinner. You also go to the toilet, then wash your hands for a solid minute before you brush your hair out again. You don’t want to go back for some reason, feeling safer with the bathroom door between you and her.
So you pull your phone out, sitting down on the closed toilet seat and decide to reply to some of your friends. The thought is gone as quickly as it came as you see that you’ve got a few messages from Alexia.
‘Can we talk about what happened today?’
‘I’m really concerned.’
‘Please tell me what’s going on, I promise I can help you.’
You don’t know what to say, your fingers hovering over the screen as you try to think of a way to make her believe that you’re okay. You are okay, everything is fine, right?
A few seconds pass as you debate in your head if it’s maybe better to just ignore her or if that would just make her more concerned or maybe even annoyed with you.
When the bathroom door opens and your girlfriend steps in you quickly lock your screen, smiling up at her as she frowns.
“Why are you sitting here on your phone? You’re missing the movie.”
“Just wanted to reply to a few friends, I’m coming now.”
She nods though the frown doesn’t disappear before she suddenly holds her hand out.
“Let me see.”
You hesitate, aware that she will probably not enjoy seeing what Alexia just wrote you.
“It’s just a few messages from friends.”
The way her eyebrow raises is enough to alert you that she’s getting angry, her voice has a harsh tone to it as she speaks again.
“Okay then it should be no problem if I see it. Or do you have something to hide?”
“No I don’t but-“
“Give me your phone.”
It’s clear that it’s not open for debate anymore, her voice unwavering as she holds out her hand again.
In hindsight you maybe should have just refused to. Or opened it but stalled her until you’ve deleted the last messages from Alexia. But you don’t really feel like you’ve got much of a choice as you swallow harshly and hand her your phone. In itself the messages from Alexia aren’t bad, you’re not hiding them because it’s cheating or anything like that. You just don’t want her to see them because you already know that she won’t believe you that you didn’t tell anyone about what happened. And you’re right.
“Did you tell her what happened last night? I thought we had an agreement that it was an accident and it won’t happen again.”
“I didn’t tell her, my makeup just wiped a bit off and she saw and got concerned, that’s all.”
For a moment it’s silent as you pray that she will believe you - it is the truth after all. But luck doesn’t seem to be on your side as another text message from Alexia comes in.
‘Do you want me to come over? We can talk in peace then. Or we skip training tomorrow and talk then.’
You barely get a glimpse at it before your girlfriend scoffs loudly, a dark expression on her face as she speaks.
“The Alexia Putellas skipping training because she wants to talk to you so bad? Are you fucking kidding me?”
You flinch when she carelessly throws your phone to the side from where it slides across the floor until it stops close to the front door. You can only pray that it’s not broken as your girlfriend stalks towards you, now clearly very angry.
“So how long have you been cheating on me with her, hm?”
“I’m not cheating, she just wants to help-“
Another scoff from her interrupts you as she crosses her arms, the way her expression darkens is enough to make you genuinely nervous. Your eyes switch from looking at her and then looking at the front door, for a moment genuinely debating if it’s maybe safer to just go on a walk for a bit until she has calmed down again. You don’t get to continue your internal struggle as the way she walks towards you has you instinctively going backwards.
“Oh and now you won’t even let me get close to you, wow.”
“You just startled me.” You sound awfully quiet as you say it, eyes now locked onto the ground as you try to keep your rising anxiety under control.
“Since when do I startle you, hm? Just because I got rightfully angry yesterday doesn’t mean that you have to act like I’m abusing you. It wasn’t on purpose okay? Stop being so dramatic about it.”
For a moment you don’t really know what to say, just silently concentrating on the tiles on the bathroom floor. You remember how you once had a panic attack before a huge game, how Alexia was the one to hold you when she found you crouched on the bathroom floor struggling to breathe. She counted the tiles for you, urging you to count with her and after some time it was enough distraction for you to catch your breath and be able to get up again. The way she had been so sweet, so gentle and protective when she had seen you, how she had handled you with such care as you got panicked. You can’t help but compare it to your girlfriend who is currently doing nothing but fuelling the cold and freezing feeling of your anxiety taking over.
For a moment you wish Alexia were here. She would help deescalate and calm the situation down again.
“Don’t fucking ignore me! Are you and Alexia a thing now? Did you tell her how evil and mean I am and that you need her to protect you? Hm?”
The words are harsh, the anger clear in her voice as she moves further towards you.
You feel your girlfriend before you see her, the strong grip on your arm as she tugs you with her enough to make you stumble. You almost fall, trying to catch yourself on the sink but the next pull from her makes you crash against it with your hip and you already know that it’s going to be a fat bruise.
“Do you let her fuck you behind my back?”
The accusation is so random and vile that you would have laughed in any other situation. Right now though, with her tight grip around your wrist and the anger practically radiating off of her, there’s absolutely no humor in this situation for you.
“No, of course not!”
Your protest falls on deaf ears as she pushes you against the door of the bathroom again. It reminds you of yesterday, the memory enough to make the bile rise up in your throat because as much as you wanted to believe that it was just a one time thing and she didn’t mean it - you know what’s coming now.
She doesn’t hit you, just twists your arm until you’re looking up at her. Still, it hurts and it doesn’t seem to bother her at all when you hiss in pain at the uncomfortable feeling and frantically try to rip your wrist out of her vice like grip.
You barely even recognise your own girlfriend when you look up at her, the angry look in her eyes and the complete disregard for you only serving to increase your panic and this time you’re able to react when she reaches out for you again, pushing her away and making a run for your phone. You can feel her grabbing you and pulling you up by your upper arms, your head harshly colliding with the little side table she has next to the main door as she pushes you against it. For a moment your vision gets awfully blurry and the pang of pain going through your head is enough to make you consider just rolling into a ball and pray it’s over soon. But you can feel the phone in your cold hands, you know that there is someone you can call, someone who will come immediately to help.
It’s a struggle to get up, both because you can’t see correctly and because your girlfriend is pushing you down immediately as soon as you attempt to stand. You shake her off, your hand gripping your phone as tightly as you can as you just pray that the fall from earlier hasn’t damaged it too much.
There’s another push to your back as you stumble towards the bathroom door, almost falling again as you barely manage to catch yourself and slip inside. Thankfully you’re faster with locking the door than your girlfriend is with pushing against it because you definitely would not win that strength battle, your chest heaving from the little struggle as you wipe some small strands of hair off your forehead.
You still can’t see completely clear but there’s no time to waste as you turn the phone in your hand to inspect it. The fact that it still turns on is enough to make give you at least some reassurance that you’ll be okay as the door begins to shake with how much your girlfriend is pulling at it. The screen is cracked which makes it difficult to click onto your contacts and the correct number but you manage, anxiously praying that the person you’re calling is still up and will answer.
The pure relief that floods through you as the calling signal stops and her familiar voice greets you almost makes your knees give out as you crouch down next to the shower and try to keep your voice down. You planned on asking for help, for her to come over immediately and get you out of here but the only thing you can get out is a sobbed:
“Alexia.”

filling the void (4) II a.putellas x sister!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
prequel one two three
filling the void (4) II a.putellas x sister!reader
you looked up from your coffee as the front door opened, your sister walking through and pulling her headphones down around her neck clearly having gone for a run.
"bon dia hermana." she greeted as you only nodded, sipping on your coffee and breathing a small sigh of relief when alexia headed toward her bedroom.
when she returned a few minutes later her headphones were gone and she'd taken off her runners, padding her way into the kitchen to make herself a coffee and start breakfast.
as you sat at the bench drifting away into your own world alexia was stuck in her head just as much as you were, between worries for eli and worries for you her mind was a mess, only worsening after your confession last night.
a confession which you were praying to every and all god that alexia wouldn't bring up, already incredibly embarrassed about your outburst at the hospital you didn't think you'd handle having to confront anything else head on right now.
olga could sense the tension in the room before she even entered, needing to head off to madrid for a few days for work she'd spent most of this morning worrying about what might happen while she was away but alexia had been firm that it was important she still go.
"hola pequeña." the older girl greeted you as you sent her a smile, alexia glancing over her shoulder in surprise when you didn't make any comment on the use of the nickname, though really she should figure she'd lost the right to battle you about that anyway with her behavior lately.
"amor you called jona sĂ?" olga murmered, alexia nodding and stealing a kiss when you weren't looking as if you were still a child, the captain having taken the next two days off from training to make sure she was around with everything going on.
"two days, more if i need them." alexia murmured, olga smiling appreciatively knowing how hard it was for her girlfriend to take time off, her work ethic just as dangerous as it was admirable at times.
both girls turned their heads as you awkwardly cleared your throat, alexia wordlessly raising an eyebrow as your fingers drummed anxiously against the ceramic walls of the coffee mug clenched tightly in hand, the beverage itself now long gone luke warm.
"can you take me home please? i have work at nine." you asked quietly, alexia hesitating for a moment as if unsure of a response. "you don't want to come to the hospital?" your sister asked carefully, olgas hand moving to rest on top of hers on the counter.
"i have to work." you answered again, a little firmer this time. "hermana if you call your boss and explain i am sure that-" alexia tried again as you shook your head. "i have to work. i have my routine and i need to be home to follow it, all my things are there. alexia can you please take me home?" you stood abruptly, jaw clenched as you smoothed out the clothes you'd been wearing for the last near twelve hours.
as alexia opened her mouth her girlfriend gently tapped a finger against her knuckles in a silent warning. "i can take you on my way to the gym nena." olga stepped in with a smile as you nodded, alexia watching you hurry away to the bedroom to grab your phone and house keys.
"why does she not want to-" alexia frowned as her girlfriend shook her head, cutting her off. "leave it ale. you need what you need, and fresa needs what fresa needs." olga warned softly, hand tracing the catalan's sharp jawline which tensed but none the less the blonde nodded.
"do you want-" "i'll cook something when i get back before my flight mi vida, go see your mami." olga kissed her cheek, alexia sending her a small smile and pecking her lips a few times in silent appreciation before you returned.
"ready to go?"
~
"-no there's still no update, she's still not really awake yet and she's still on the ventilator." alexia explained with a sigh, on her way back to the car and on the phone for what felt like the hundredth time today, having swallowed the bullet and starting to reach out to close family members to let them know what happened.
"tĂa i promise as soon as she is awake and less high risk i will call you right away, for now she is not allowed many visitors. alba and i only saw her for a few minutes today and we were waiting for hours." alexia fished her keys out of her pocket and hummed, the rapid spanish on the other end of the line the same thing she'd heard all day.
"sĂ fresa is okay, alba and i are looking after her." alexia spoke on autopilot despite the way the words felt like ashes in her mouth, an incoming call having her rapidly finish up the conversation, abruptly hanging up and clicking accept.
"hola hermana." alexia sighed tiredly, holding the phone between her ear and shoulder as she paid for her parking and rolled her eyes at the high price but tapping her card none the less.
"were you picking fresa up from work?" alba asked, a slight worry to her tone as alexia frowned, stopping in her tracks. "no. she said you were picking her up, olga dropped her off this morning." alexia answered, hurrying to her car.
"well thats what i thought too. but i am here, the clinic is closed and she is not here, nobody is." alba replied, having left the hospital a couple of hours ago. "mierda. maybe she took the bus? i can go past mami's house now to check if she is there." alexia decided, promising to keep alba in the loop as she hurried out of the parking garage.
alexia wasn't sure to be relieved or annoyed when she pulled into the driveway and noticed the house lights were on, the blurred shadows of a figure moving behind the drawn curtains could be just faintly seen.
knocking on the front door a few times alexia tapped her foot, frowning when the door only opened a slight crack and your head poked out. "what?" you asked, a little bluntly as your sister seemed taken aback.
"alba went to pick you up from work and you were not there, we were worried." alexia started as you rolled your eyes, still refusing to open the door properly. "i finish early on mondays." you answered.
"oh, i didn't know." your sister frowned as you scoffed slightly. "why would you alexia? i'm surprised you both even know where i work." the older girls cheeks flushed a little with warmth.
"hermanita-" 'don't, please." you cut her off before she could speak, not in the mood for the conversation you knew she'd want to start right now.
"pack a bag then, you can stay with me again tonight." your sister forced a smile as you gave her an odd look as if she'd grown a second head. "why?" though when all you received in response was a knowing look, your eyes rolled once more.
"alexia, go home. i am fine here by myself, i have work tomorrow again and i already told you i have a routine." you sighed trying to close the door, frustration growing as the blondes foot wedged in the way.
"then i will stay here, i still have some things in my room." the girl persisted as you shook your head. "you don't need to, and i don't want you to." you replied sharply, though you winced as something thudded behind you.
"oh but you are fine by yourself? who is here with you." alexia's demeanor switched as you kicked at her foot and attempted to shove the door closed but to no avail as your sister easily overpowered your attempts and pushed it open, nearly sending you to the floor as she marched in like a mad woman.
"who is that!?"
you scrambled to your feet and quickly snatched up the four year old who went running toward your sister, sitting her on your hip as alexia stared at you wide eyed and in shock.
"whose niña is this?" alexia stammered out as you sighed and closed the front door. "this is sofía." you introduced, alexia's face softening a little at the shy gap toothed smile the small girl gave her.
"sof this is alexia, she's mi hermana." you introduced back, alexia giving a small wave and melting even further at the way sofía tucked her head into your neck. "since when are you shy pequeña?" you teased, a giggle sounding as you poked at her stomach.
"okay sof, how about you go watch your show while i finish dinner and talk to alexia. if you need anything you come get me or just yell out, vale?" you placed her back down as she immediately hid behind your leg, peeking out at alexia who gave her another wave.
"vale." the four year old chirped, tugging on the hem of your shorts as you bent down to her level, something whispered in your ear making you laugh and tickle her again as she giggled and raced back off to the living room.
"she's one of my friends daughters, her baby sitters sick so i offered to watch her." you explained to your sister who nodded, a little dumbfounded as she followed you back to the kitchen.
"have you been here alone with her all day?" alexia asked with an air of concern as you stirred whatever you were cooking, which your sister wouldn't deny smelt leagues better than anything she made herself these days.
"no, just a couple hours. elena does night school monday through wednesday to get her doctorate, whenever her baby sitter isn't free i watch sofĂa. normally i'd go to her house but with everyone going on she thought it might be better if i had sof here." you spoke quietly, glancing over your shoulder every couple of minutes to check in on the tiny brunette giggling away at a brightly coloured kids show on screen.
"you look after her by yourself?" alexia asked, shock hardly disguised as you rolled your eyes moving the sauce off the heat and huffing.
"yes alexia, believe it or not i can keep another human being alive for a few hours. i've had enough practice looking after myself!" you snapped, pausing to close your eyes and take a breath.
"i don't want to argue in front of her. i told you i'm fine, you've seen i'm okay, go home alexia, your home." you sighed, turning your back to her again after you'd peeked at the living room over the top of her head.
"fresa i also don't want to argue." your sister started a lot softer as you began to dish up dinner. "you know i want to fix this, alba and i want to fix things." alexia promised as you stayed silent, though before either one of you could speak a new voice piped up.
"you're really tall. way taller than my mami!" alexia jumped a little in surprise as sofĂa now stood next to her looking up in wonder. "is dinner nearly done?" she shot now next to you, tugging again on the hem of your shorts as you looked down with a soft smile.
"nearly. you hungry?" you questioned as the four year old nodded enthusiastically. "so hungry!" she groaned dramatically sagging against your leg as alexia smiled, suddenly slammed back into the memory of when she and alba would look after you at that age and you too would never leave her alone when she was trying to cook.
one memory in particular sat heavily with the captain as she watched you teasingly shove sofĂa away and take a test mouthful of the food, groaning loudly and happily as the girl hit your leg and huffed opening her mouth wanting to try for herself.
it was another night where both her parents were working night shifts and a sixteen year old alexia had been left to look after her sisters, alba hidden away in her room taking another one of her teenage angst my life is awful i hate everyone naps she so adored at that age.
alexia had been at training all afternoon, currently playing at Levante, and received the news from the coach that she wouldn't be starting this weekend which now made three weeks in a row.
it had put a dampen on the girls mood significantly, feeling quite lost as to what else she could do to prove herself. she already stayed back, arrived early, trained at home, worked on her skills in every way possible she could but still, nothing seemed to be good enough.
it hadn't helped that with eli only recently picking up night shifts you were still adjusting to the change in your routine, used to your papi not being around after dinner but missing your mami, which lead to you being even more clingier than usual.
"fresa!" alexia huffed as she turned and nearly stepped on you as you hovered by her feet after being sent away a few minutes ago, hugging her leg and refusing to let go no matter what.
"fresa please let go." alexia asked as nicely as she could manage, temper rapidly becoming shorter and shorter as you refused to listen to a single word she said.
first it had been refusing to take a bath, hiding under alexia's bed right against the wall where she couldn't reach you and even going as far as to bite the tip of her finger as she finally grabbed a fistful of your shirt and pulled you out.
next it was trying to drown her in a tidal wave of soapy water when she finally got you into a bath, soaking the clothes she'd not long changed into after her own shower.
but still alexia managed to hold her tongue, speaking to you softly and encouragingly as eventually you sat down and allowed her to wash your hair.
but then you'd ran around half dressed and still wet for half an hour, finding endless amusement in the way your older sister just couldn't catch you, giggling and screaming with delight as alexia resisted the urge to kick you like a football when she finally scooped you up and forced you into the rest of your pyjamas, towel drying and braiding your hair so it was out of your face.
well braiding it as best she could as you'd squirmed and wriggled and kicked, whining that alexia didn't do it right and that it was too tight and then it was too loose and that only your mami knew how to do your hair right.
a full blown tantrum over your hair which took alexia a good half an hour to calm you down again had seemingly tired you out as your sister left you on the sofa with your favourite movie on.
alexia now an hour later than planned started on dinner, stress building as it rapidly neared your bed time and the brunette feared any more disruptions would only worsen your behaviour.
she'd gotten halfway done with dinner before you grew bored of your movie, alexia's attempts to wake up alba to help only resulting in a shoe flung at her head and a door slammed in her face as she resisted the urge to strangle the younger girl.
it seemed the cure to your boredom was to latch yourself firmly to your eldest sisters leg, curling around her like a monkey as no amount of shaking or begging had you letting go.
with all of that happening alexia had almost burned dinner, patience now a thin veil as she firmly yanked you off her leg and placed you down, shooing you away and promising dinner was almost done.
though of course you hadn't listened and immediately returned to hover under her feet now bringing a toy crane your papi had gifted you. and it was the small piece of plastic alexia had stepped on with barefeet, causing her to trip and a hand to shoot out to stop herself from falling.
that hand falling on the stove had meant another wave of pain rocked her body as she hissed and saw red, nearly tripping over you once again as you made noises with your mouth and sat on the floor between her legs refusing to move.
"why do you have to be such a pain! why can't you listen! i said to leave me be and you hover under my feet and trip me and do not go away! go away fresa!" alexia had lost it at this point, flying entirely of a dangerously unbalanced handle as she yelled.
but all of that anger drained from her body in a millisecond like someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over her head as she watched your eyes well up with tears, crane clattering to the floor.
"no no no hey pequeña-" alexia cooed softly immediately dropping to her knees and reaching for you but you were gone, sprinting away as fast as your small legs could take you as alexia's heart broke and she stood, quickly pulling the pot off the stove and running after you.
she checked your room first in all the usual hiding places but came up with nothing, calling out for you and begging you to come out, apologizing over and over but even in her own room she couldn't find you, worries growing with each passing second.
alba's door now locked she knew that was out of contention, and her body flooded with relief as she stepped into her parents bedroom and caught sight of your leg in the mirror where you'd wedged yourself under their bed.
"fresita." alexia called out softly, her chest aching at the sniffles which could be heard from your hiding spot, the older girl sitting cross legged on the floor and begging you to come out with no luck.
you refused to say a word bar the tiny sniffles and hiccups that left you, sounds of pain which were much too large for a body as tiny as yours as alexia's own flooded with guilt for her outburst.
"hey fresa ven aquĂ. nena i am so so so sorry for yelling, i didn't mean it promesa. please come out, lo siento mucho hermanita please." alexia continued to beg, leaning down to peer at you under the bed as you caught her eye with another sniffle, rolling over so you were facing the wall and tucking into yourself even tighter.
with a sigh alexia ran a hand through her hair, jumping as a hand landed on her shoulder, surprised to see alba now stood behind her. she frowned a little as the younger girl sat beside her, pulling something from her pocket and placing it just under the bed.
"fresita." alba cooed, voice thick with sleep as you turned under the bed, spotting your favorite chocolate bar sat a few feet away.
as alba noticed your tiny hand reach out for it she placed a finger on top, pulling the treat a little further away as you frowned and wiggled closer, though again it was tugged just out of reach.
this game of cat and mouse continued for a while until the chocolate bar sat on the floor between your sisters and eventually your head peeked out from under the bed cautiously, both older girls smiling down at you.
you watched them for a moment as neither of them made any move to reach for you, aware one sudden movement could be all it took for you to reatreat again.
when they didn't move you slowly wiggled the rest of your body out, reaching for the chocolate and snatching it, both your sisters holding their breath but sighing quietly as you sat up and didn't seem inclined to return under the bed.
"i'll go finish dinner." alba murmured as you struggled to open the chocolate, alexia sending her a grateful smile as she disapeared out of the room.
"do you want me to open it pequeña?" alexia asked softly as you nodded, shuffling a littler closer as your sister took it from your outstretched palm and opened it, handing it back.
as you took a bite this time alexia reached for you, relieved when you put up no fight as she sat you in her lap, arms protectively wound around you and her face buried in your hair.
"tickles!" you huffed as alexia exhaled tiredly, wriggling around as your sister smiled and turned you in her lap, grabbing under your arms and standing you up so you were both eye to eye.
"fresa. i am very very very sorry for yelling and for if i scared you, i am not mad at you." alexia promised as you nodded and her thumb swiped at the tear tracks under your eyes with a pained smile.
"sorry i tripped you." you whispered out, looking down guiltily as alexia's finger tilted your chin back up so your eyes locked with hers once again.
"its okay hermanita, i know you did not mean to. you just miss mami, sĂ?" you nodded at that as alexia tugged you into a tight hug, peppering kisses along the crown of your forehead.
"i miss her too fresa, but we will get better at this, we will." alexia promised, cradling your head as you nodded into her chest. "but sometimes when mami is not here and i ask you to do something, i need you to do it, vale?" alexia murmered as you pulled your head back.
"vale. sorry ale." your bottom lip wobbled again as alexia was quick to catch the rogue tear with her finger, kissing your cheek repeatedly and carefully standing still with you held tightly in her arms.
"the kitchen can be dangerous sometimes fresa, especially sat on the floor or attached to my leg like a little monkey." alexia warned tickling at your stomach as you giggled and a wave of relief washed over her seeing you smile again.
"you're just my best friend ale and i don't know what to do without you." you mumbled tiredly with a yawn as your head slumped on her shoulder, fatigue clawing at you as it was now past your normal bed time as alexia melted and almost cried, exhaustion hitting her as well.
"oh mi precioso fresa you are my best friend too. forever and ever and ever nena, promesa."
"my mami stabs people! what do you do?" sofĂa was now stood back next to alexia, smiling up at her clearly no longer as shy as the older girl was flung into reality, blinking a few times as she adjusted and tuned back in.
"elena works with me at the clinic." you quickly clarified with a small amount of amusement seeing the mild horror flicker through the older girls eyes as she registered what sofĂa had said.
"i play football. do you like football?" your sister dropped down to the girls level, the two of them chattering away and before you could blink suddenly sofĂa was tugging her away to the living room with her.
you glanced over a few minutes later to see the two of them sat cross legged on the floor, alexia trying to teach sofĂa some sort of clapping game as you sighed and dished up a third bowl of the meal.
"dinner is done." you called out, ensuring the stove was fully off as within a blink there was an eager four year old climbing up into her chair as you chuckled and handed her a fork.
"you may as well stay, i know olga is the cook anyway." you gave your sister a small smile as alexia did her best not to let a grin overtake her face as she sat down across from the two of you and you slid her a fork.
"gracias fresa." alexia smiled as sofĂa paused mid mouthful to give you a curious look. "she calls you strawberry." the brunette pointed out as you nodded. "she does, thats my favourite fruit." you poked at her nose as she huffed and smacked your hand away.
"when she was your age all she wanted to eat was strawberries, for every single meal." alexia added on pulling a stupid face at the girl who giggled. "you can't do that silly!" sofĂa shook her head at you.
"can too, and strawberry milk." you grabbed a napkin and sofĂa's chin in your hand, wiping the copious amount of food which missed her mouth away as she whined and tried to push you off.
again alexia was hit with a wave of nostalgia, vivid memories of when she sat in your chair and you sat in sofia's, the smile fading from her face as her stomach churned with guilt, somewhat grateful for the small four year olds constant chatter meaning neither you or alexia really had to interact much.
"alexia do you have a football? can we play?" sofĂa grabbed your sisters hand once she was done helping you clear the table, hitting the catalan with the best puppy dog eyes she could muster not unlike you did all those years ago when you were determined to get your own way.
you caught her eye and the slight raise of her eyebrow, pausing for a moment before sending the blonde a curt nod. "i'll wash up." you declared, dismissing her attempts to offer help as sofĂa pulled impatiently on your sisters hand.
"sĂ, i have lots of footballs nena. ven conmigo and you can choose one!"
~
you'd been keeping a close eye on the pair as they raced and chased one another around the backyard, the summer evening sun starting to fade fast as you dried and put away the last plate.
you'd like if you said it hadn't shocked you a little to see your at times quite awkward sister be so open and care free with sofĂa, you having caught her earlier chase the small girl around the backyard pretending to be a football eating monster.
you'd be lying to yourself if similarly to alexia watching their interactions didn't bring up any thoughts or feelings toward your own childhood but in no state of mind to unpack that just yet you squashed it deep deep down and refused to acknowledge it.
you were stood on the back steps just about to call the two of them in now the sun was near fully set when it happened.
all it took was a misplaced step and suddenly sofĂa was falling head over heels, skinning her knee on the brick retaining wall of the small vegetable patch in the corner.
alexia's sisterly instincts kicked in as she raced across to comfort the now crying girl but you beat her to it, quickly lifting sofĂa up and into your arms as you bounced her up and down.
"hey hey hey nena its okay! you're okay. just a little fall sof, you're okay." you repeated over and over, your sister watching on a little dumbfounded as you hurried inside, alexia grabbing the football and following.
"hey you're a big girl right? big girls get skinned knees! its all a part of growing up sof." you sat her down on the kitchen counter as her cries turned to hiccups and she nodded.
"its okay to cry though nena, its good to cry sometimes! never let anyone tell you you're not allowed to. sometimes tears can be happy as well!" you kept the girl engaged as you cleaned her knee, poking at her stomach and making jokes, her giggling distracting her from the alcohol swab wiping away at the small graze.
"now, i need someone really really special to help me make a very important decision. anyone?" you asked, holding something behind your back and making a silly face, sofĂa nodding eagerly as her hand shot into the air.
"anyone? does anyone want to help?" you pretended not to notice, looking around as the four year old huffed and alexia smiled softly hovering nearby watching the interaction. "me! me me me!" sofĂa chanted impatiently as you sighed.
"i guess nobody wants to help!" you threw your hands up and turned to go as a small hand grabbed a fistful of your t-shirt and tugged. "oh! do you want to help me sof? why didn't you tell me!" you teased, jabbing playfully at her sides as she squealed and kicked at you.
"i will help." the girl nodded as you did the same. "okay. mickey mouse, or goofy?" you held up two different plasters as sofĂa's face lit up and she instantly pointed to the goofy one.
asking her to sit still for a moment you carefully applied the plaster over the small graze, kissing the top of her knee and standing up straight away. "all fixed! i think we do not need to cut this off...yet." you grabbed her foot and inspected her leg with a frown.
"hey!" the brunette gasped as you pulled a shocked face and ruffled her hair, picking her back up again. "bath and bed." you pinched her nose as she groaned but made no move to fight, going limp in your arms as you smiled and kissed her cheek.
"i'm just gonna..." you jolted a little admittedly having forgotten alexia was still here as you noticed her, your sister nodding in understanding.
"don't go yet! i wanna say goodnight." sofĂa yelled to alexia over your shoulder as the girl promised she wouldn't and took a seat on the sofa, exhaling as she did so, head swamped with a tidal wave of memories, only worsened as she stared around at her childhood home.
alexia hadn't realised how long she'd been trapped in her own mind but what felt like mere seconds later a body was latched to her leg and you were waiting in the hallway, arms crossed and a large wet patch on your shirt where the four year old had gotten a little too enthusiastic with the plastic duck she always had with her.
"buenas noches alexia. it was fun playing with you!" sofĂa smiled a little more tiredly now, climbing onto the sofa and hugging the older girl tightly who perhaps clung on a second or so too long, flashes of when it was you hugging her goodnight still lingering at the back of her mind.
"it was very nice to meet you nena, remember drive through!" your sister pretended to kick a ball as sofĂa giggled and copied the action before waving and racing back to your side as the two of you disappeared again.
when you returned around fifteen minutes later now changed into dry clothes and the four year old sleeping peacefully in your bed it wasn't a surprise to see alexia curled up on the corner of the lounge watching something.
you didn't say anything at first as you settled at the opposite end, a somewhat uncomfortable unspoken tension filling the gap between the two of you.
"i assume you are staying the night then." you spoke up first, knowing alexia well enough that when she had her mind set on something it was near impossible to change it.
"sĂ." your sister confirmed as you gave a small nod. "you are very good with her." the blonde commented next, throwing you a small look as your own eyes stayed fixated on the tv.
"as kids go she's pretty easy." you gave a shrug, tucking your knees up to your chest. "everything you do with her, i used to do with you." and there it was.
"alexia-" you started with a small sigh. "no, fresa i know. we don't need to speak about it, i just wanted to say it. she reminds me a lot of you is all, and i miss it sometimes." alexia admitted, nervous that with one wrong word it might send you recoiling into yourself and off to your room, worsening things.
a beat of silence paused and alexia took that as a silent cue you were done, turning her head back toward the tv.
"sometimes i miss it too."
you'd spoken so quietly you weren't even sure if your sister had heard you, grateful that if she did she chose not to comment on it, the two of you sitting in silence that albeit awkward was a little less tense watching television.
alexia looked up from where she was getting some water in the kitchen at a soft knock at the door, watching you hurry over to pull it open, an unfamiliar girl just visible through the window as alexia leaned against the counter.
no words were exchanged as you lead the girl inside and the two of you returned a moment later, sofia back in her mothers arms as the girl who didn't look much older than twenty two or three loaded her into a carseat.
when she returned to speak with you alexia hadn't meant to eavesdrop and overhear, she really hadn't.
"thank you so so much for this chica, she adores you and i appreciate you." elena sighed pulling you into a hug as you assured it was no problem and you were always happy to help out if needed.
"please don't give me that look." you sighed after you told her you'd see her at work tomorrow. "mateo said you could have the whole week off and with pay! why are you working?" elena told you off firmly but not unkindly.
"i like working." you justified with a shrug, the older girl not buying it as she raised an eyebrow and you deflated a little. "i can't see her like that el, i can't." you whispered out, voice on the cusp of cracking as alexia's eyebrows furrowed from where she stood within earshot.
"she's your mami amiga she would want you there with your sisters, supporting each other through this. not stabbing grumpy old men with low iron!" elena teased with a soft smile as you barely cracked one of your own.
"your sisters are trying, sĂ? let them try, i am sure that they love you very much." elena promised as alexia was taken aback at her words, the jealousy which had been simmering at the surface of the comfort this stranger was providing you instead of her, easing a little.
"i know. but i can't see her like that, i can't." you repeated with a shake of your head. "why?" elena asked softly, a hand sat on your shoulder with a gentle squeeze as you shook your head.
"you can talk to me about anything chica, you know this. we all love you and are here for anything you need!" your friend encouraged gently, alexia's grip on her glass tightening as she heard the unmistakable sound of you choking back a slight sob before the next words you whispered shattered her heart completely.
"because the last time someone i loved when into hospital, he never came back."

Comfort in Chaos
Alexia’s favourite girls series
Tumblr media
Alexia picks the pieces up after a fight
“Isabella Maria Putellas get down here right now!” You had told your daughter countless of times to put her dirty plate into the dishwasher and yet you are looking at said plate. Emilia and Alexia send each other curious looks from where they are lounging on the couch.
Your sixteen year old trudges down the stairs with a scowl plastered on her face and an attitude that is not going to get her anywhere in this conversation. “Why would you say I called you down here?” You sternly asked, crossing your arms and trying not to pinch the bridge of your nose in frustration. Bella shrugged as she nonchalantly leaned against the wall, “Isabella I won’t ask you again!” The threat flew over her head as she rolled her eyes, “Will you please just put your plate away, that’s all I’ve asked you to do.” You pleaded on the verge of tears, you were extremely tired from your day of work and nobody seemed to be on your side.
Alexia picked up on your tone and knew that this was not going to end well. Isabella however didn’t even bat an eyelid to your pleading, “Emilia didn’t put hers away.” You took a deep breath, “Your sister helped make the dinner.” Isabella scowled as she glared up at you, “No, no voy a guardar mi estĂșpido plato de comida!” You were taken aback by her sudden burst of anger and you knew you had to put your foot down. “Ya estĂĄ, up to your room and don’t come out for the night. You’re grounded, give me your phone.”
Isabella scoffed and stomped her foot much like she used to do when she was younger. “You are the worst, Mami would never treat me like this, ¡Te odio!” The words rattled around the house as it fell silent. Isabella looked taken aback by her words as she caught her breath, regret starting to seep into her but she was still angry. Alexia quickly made herself known, “Habitación ahora.” She firmly told her eldest, Isabella went to argue, “¡Ahora!” The sixteen year old knew better than to argue when her Mamí was mad so she retreated back upstairs.
“That was mean.” Isabella heard a small voice as she started up the stairs, Val was clinging to the door of the living room as she looked up at her sister with an unsure look. “Lo sĂ©.” She sighed regretfully as she hung her head. She wanted to apologise straight away but she was stubborn. Meanwhile in the kitchen Alexia was trying to assess the damage. She watched as you went back to washing up seemingly unbothered to anyone else but your wife saw straight through the façade. It was obvious in the way that your shoulders tensed and the deep breath that was released.
You walked passed her, picking up the plate that was the cause of all this and aggressively starting to wash it. “Vale, no come here bebita.” The blonde sighed as you dropped the plate to fall into her arms. Her strong arms were wrapped tightly around you as she kissed the top of your head, “It’s okay, she didn’t mean that.” You Cleary didn’t believe her as you hummed non committedly. “I am a terrible mother.” You decided as Alexia’s eyes widened at your confession, “Basta, eres la major madre e Isabella lo sabe. Fights happen, we’ve fought does that make me a terrible wife.”
You gripped her jumper as you breathed in her comforting scent, “No, you are the best wife.” Alexia smiled gently, wanting to bring you as much comfort as she possibly could. “So what does that make you?” Her large hands rested on either side of your face as yours stayed firmly gripped in her hoodie, “A good mother.” Alexia tutted softly before correcting you, “The best mother and the best wife and the greatest woman I have ever known, we are the luckiest girls on earth to have someone like you in our lives, vale?” You leaned up to kiss her sweetly, trying to convey just how much you adored the mother of your children and your soulmate.
“She is so grounded.” Alexia sighs as she looks up at the ceiling where your daughters room is. “Yeah right, as if that will last.” You chuckle before pulling yourself together. It was then that you noticed Emilia hovering by the door, concern etched all over her face. You nodded her over and suddenly she was standing right in front of you. “You okay mommy?” Your twelve year old asked as she glanced up to your wife for reassurance. Just like she had with you Alexia managed to calm her daughter down with a few strokes to her hair, “I’m okay Meels, prometo.” She nodded before pouting cutely, “Am I going to be grumpy when I turn thirteen.” You had to stifle your laugh as your wife reassured her that she was already grumpy and that nothing would change.
“By the way Dani’s a sleep under the table again and Val painted all over her face.” Emilia said as she left the room. Alexia winced as she turned slowly around to where you were glaring at her playfully. “She can sleep with you tonight while you sleep on the couch.” You teased as her eyes widened, rushed pleas as she grabbed a towel and prepared to wake up the three year old that was sure to be grumpy.
Isabella was in fact let out of her room not even an hour after the incident with a warning and a tearful apology to her mom.

alexia struggles with the adjustments that come with parenthood cw: angst + fluff, mentions of anxiety
------
Alexia liked to think of herself as a calm person. Good in a crisis. She always had a level head, regardless of whatever was going on.
As she stood, though, cradling your newborn daughter in her arms, tears streaming down her cheeks, she felt anything but calm. She felt overwhelmed and terrified and happy and proud. Most of all, she felt love, filling her whole body, until looking down at Mila’s little face felt like all she could do, all she ever wanted to do.
Alexia thought she knew love. She loved her parents, she loved her sister. She loved you, more than she could comprehend sometimes. This little baby in her arms, that had her eyes, she noted, was so indescribably perfect. Alexia knew her, somehow. Her tiny little nose, the wisps of hair on her head. The way her little hand barely wrapped around Alexia’s pinky. This perfect little baby that was hers, and yours, and she was so overcome with love for Mila, and love for you, that all she could do was sit. Sit, stare at her baby in her arms, and cry. Alexia wasn’t a crier, not really. Here she was, though. And she didn’t care. You and Mila mattered more than anything in the world ever had, and ever would again.
“Ale?” You said groggily, pulling her out of her thoughts. She turned to you and the look of wonder on her face that had been there since she laid eyes on your baby girl for the first time remained, even now, a few hours later. You smiled sleepily, the drugs from the c-section making you rather exhausted, not to mention the numerous hours you spent in labor. “Come sit.”
Your wife walked closer, sliding onto the hospital bed next to you. Mila looked absolutely tiny in her arms, and Alexia removed one arm to wrap around your shoulders, and carefully pulled you into her. “How are you, mi amor?”
“Perfect.” You mumbled back, resting your head on her shoulder. She delicately kissed your forehead.
“Perfect? Are you sure?”
“Well, I just had my abdomen cut open and my organs briefly removed. But I woke up to see you holding our baby and I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy before. It got scary for a bit there.” You told her quietly, voice thick with emotion. Mila had been
rather reluctant to come out. You’d been in labor for almost a full 24 hours before the doctors decided you weren’t progressing fast enough, the baby was under stress from the position she was in, and they took you straight to surgery. It had been the most painful 24 hours of your life, and the scariest of Alexia’s.
“I love you. And I am so proud of you, you did so well, mi niña, so well,” Alexia assured you, focusing on the feeling of having you both close to her, and not the anxiety still swirling around inside of her.
She didn’t know, though, that the anxiety would remain. It wasn’t temporary, a product of her baby’s delivery. It was the start of an almost constant level of stress she faced. Because she felt new levels of love and happiness that day. And with that, came the fear that something would happen to take it all away.
-------
Alexia remembered that day so well, the day Mila was born. The best day of her life. She remembered how scared she was. You’d promised her that with time, that fear would fade, and she’d fall into a more comfortable routine of having a tiny human being completely reliant on her.
The fear didn’t fade. The terror whenever she thought something might be wrong with her baby girl didn’t fade. The anxiety didn’t go anywhere; if anything, it strengthened. Until there she was; sitting in her daughter’s nursery, 3 months later, knees pulled to her chest, just watching the baby sleep. It was the only time she felt calm anymore, really, when she had Mila, and preferably you, in her sight. Safe. If Mila was somewhere else, something might happen. If someone else was holding her, something might happen. If she went too far for a match, or didn’t call to check in enough, something could happen. And she wouldn’t be able to stop it, or fix it. It was a different kind of fear, Alexia realized. The overwhelming sensation that if something were to happen, to you or to Mila, it wouldn’t be something she could recover from.
So, she stayed home with the two of you, as much as possible. Barring visitors for weeks, even her mom and her sister. If you were all together, under one roof, nothing could happen. It was alright, then, those weeks she had off for maternity leave. Eventually, though, they came to an end and Alexia had to return to training, return to her first love; football. And she still loved it, still needed it.
But being away from the both of you was so difficult. She was anxious constantly, checking her phone constantly, near tears constantly. Mila was so small. Alexia could practically hold her in one hand. And the birth hadn’t been easy for you, nor had the postpartum phase. Leaving the house felt like leaving her sanity behind, and she didn’t know how to fix it.
She thought she must be a terrible mother, if she was this scared all the time over nothing. She didn’t want to be a helicopter parent, but she couldn’t help being overprotective of her baby. She just wanted you both safe and happy.
Which is how she found herself where she was now; awake in the middle of the night. Just watching your little girl sleep, feeling some semblance of relief knowing, visually seeing, that Mila was okay.
Until Mila started to breathe weirdly, in a way Alexia was sure she’d never heard before. Then, the familiar terror, increased about a 100x, filled her chest, and she was taking Mila into her arms, and rushing down the hall to where you were peacefully sleeping.
------
“Amor! Wake up, please,” Alexia pleaded. You stirred, sitting bolt upright when you noticed Alexia had Mila in her arms.
“What, what is it?” You asked frantically, taking in the absolutely terrified look on your wife’s face. Terror filled you and you rose from the bed, hovering over the baby.
“Something is wrong, she is breathing weird.”
“Let me see.” You replied, taking Mila out of Ale’s arms easily and cradling her close to your chest. Nothing seemed amiss; she had the hiccups, something she’d had a hundred times. She was half asleep, gazing up at you through cracked lids, and one of her hands lazily moved, searching for your pinkie to grab on to.
“Hey, little one,” you murmured, before turning your attention back to Alexia. “She has the hiccups?”
You were slightly grumpy at being woken up for the hiccups, but your annoyance faded when you saw Alexia shaking her head rapidly, fighting back tears.
“No, no, something is not right. She making a snuffling sound, it is not normal and I do not know what it is or when it started and I think we should take her to the hospital just in case because-”
“Alexia, breathe.” You interrupted, beginning to understand what was going on with her.
“NO, amor, please, we can just go please, let me put her in the car and we can go get her checked out.” Alexia cried, and you looked between her and the baby, wondering who needed you more at the moment. You decided it was Alexia, considering Mila had dozed back off. She wasn’t even hiccuping anymore, she was completely normal, completely fine. You placed her on the little cot next to your bed, the one she no longer slept in unless it was during the day, and you wanted her near you.
“Amor, no we have to go,” Alexia wheezed, pulling gently at the back of your shirt. She was really panicking now, her mind seemingly in a million different places.
Mila let you put her down easily, and you turned back to your wife, taking her face in between your hands.
“Alexia, relax. It’s just the hiccups. Mila is fine, completely fine. She isn’t even making a sound anymore, she’s asleep.” She shrugged your hands off to step closer to the cot, looking intently at the slumbering baby. Alexia was rapidly breathing, her hands clenching and unclenching into fists at her side.
“She is okay?” She asked quietly, turning back to you.
“She’s fine, my love.” You assured her, opening your arms and letting Alexia fall into them easily. Even though she seemed convinced, now, that Mila was okay, she was still panicking, her rapid exhales hitting the skin of your shoulder as she tried to regulate her breathing.
“Cariño, I do not know what is happening,” she whispered. “I cannot breathe, please do something.”
Now Alexia was begging you to help her, and you felt your heart break a little at the fact that she was so clearly afraid for Mila she didn’t even think of herself until she was sure the baby was okay.
“You’re okay, my love. Mila is okay, I am okay, and you are okay. We’re all fine, we’re all safe.”
“It does not feel safe,” she murmured, and you felt a teardrop hit your skin.
“Oh, baby.” You sighed, pulling out of Alexia’s strong grip even when she tried to pull you back in. You picked Mila up, and she squirmed slightly, but her eyes fluttered shut again, and you turned to Alexia, holding your daughter out to her. “Take her.”
“Cariño,” Alexia began to object.
“No, Ale, take our daughter.” You insisted, and Alexia relented, holding Mila close to her spasming chest. You wrapped your arms around the both of them, fitting your face into the crook of Alexia’s neck, gently stroking the baby’s head.
“She’s okay, baby. She’s right here with you, where nothing can hurt her. Look at her, Alexia. She’s perfectly fine, right?”
“Sí, she’s okay.” Alexia mumbled shifting Mila over to one arm, pulling you even closer with her other one. “And you are okay?”
“I am fine, my love. You are okay, too.”
“I am okay too.” Alexia repeated, as if trying to convince herself of it. “It was just the hiccups.”
You decided to push, just a little, even when Alexia didn’t take her eyes away from her baby in her arms. “She’s had the hiccups before, amor. What happened?”
“I- I do not know. It seemed different.” Alexia sniffled. You weren’t used to seeing her this distraught.
You were exhausted yourself, or you would have seen it sooner; the bags under Alexia’s eyes, the slump in her shoulders, the pacing, the anxiety that had completely taken her over. You saw it now, though, like a veil had been lifted in the dim room, and you saw how utterly broken your wife looked.
“Ale, put her down for a second.” You encouraged. She frowned but did as you asked, her hands gently and expertly maneuvering Mila back into her little cot. “Look at me, please.”
She turned to you, and you brought a hand up to cup her cheek. “You haven’t been sleeping.”
“No.” She admitted. “Not a lot.”
“Why?”
“I like to watch her sleep.” Alexia said softly, her eyes flickering back over to Mila’s sleeping form, before they focused back on you.
“Can you tell me why you’re staying up late, watching our baby sleep, instead of sleeping yourself?” You asked. Alexia’s eyes fluttered shut, and when they opened again, they were filled with tears.
“I have so much fear, all the time. That something is going to happen, and I will not be able to protect her. I love her so much, it is terrifying, amor. I do not know how to be a mom. I do not know how to do this, and I feel like I am doing a terrible job. I just love her, I just want her to be okay,” she sobbed, burying her face into your shoulder.
“Oh, Ale.” You sighed, pulling her back with you onto the bed until she was laying with her head on your chest, in between your legs. This had clearly been building up for a while, and there wasn’t much you could do while she was so upset. You let her cry into you for a few minutes, running your hands through her hair, and holding her close. The time gave you the opportunity to think, and decide exactly how you were going to approach this.
“A few months ago, when I freaked out. When Mila wouldn’t sleep without me holding her, and I was so exhausted and anxious, and I convinced myself I was a horrible mother. What did you tell me?” You asked, feeling Alexia tense under you. It wasn’t a fond memory, you falling into her arms and crying, so hard, and for so long, you were almost sick. The worst part was that Alexia hadn’t noticed you were struggling.
Alexia’s accent was thicker when she spoke, her voice raspy. “I told you that it is an adjustment, and nothing is perfect right away. You are a great mother. That when it is hard, you just need to ask for help, and I will be there.”
“Does that not apply to you, too?”
“It is different.” Alexia argued, but you shook your head.
“No, it’s the same. You’re having a hard time. You need to talk to me, so I can help, not keep it all inside until you break. This is normal, Ale, having increased anxiety after becoming a parent, but you don’t have to feel like this. There are things we can do to make it better, you don’t have to handle it all yourself. Just like I don’t.”
Your wife didn’t say anything for a while, just wrapped her arms tight around you, and pulled you closer to her. “I am sorry. I should have said something sooner.”
Trying to get Alexia to be honest about her feelings was something you still struggled with, though she was much better than she had been when you got together.
“It’s alright, baby. I know this is hard for you. You don’t need to be perfect. You’re doing so well, though, Ale. Juggling all of this with work. You’re so good with her, and I am so proud of you.” Your words were reminiscent of what Alexia had said to you in the hospital, a detail that wasn’t lost on either of you.
Alexia’s face grew red and she turned slightly to bury her face in your shirt; only you could make her blush like that, and she hoped you never stopped.  “Te amo.” She murmured.
“I love you, Ale. And so does Mila.” You promised.
Almost as if on cue, Mila began to cry in her little cot, clearly awake and annoyed that her parents were nearby, and not holding her. Alexia rolled off you, but you shook your head, pushing her back down onto the bed as you picked up your daughter.
“No, you need sleep. M and I will stay here with you, and you sleep, okay?” You climbed into the bed next to her, laying Mila easily on your chest. She settled instantly, letting out a content little sigh, and Alexia layed down too, her face level with the baby’s. She traced a finger over the small slope of the baby’s nose, over her little eyebrows. Sleepily, Mila reached for her Mami’s hand, happily gripping on to one of her fingers, her eyes fluttering shut. You watched with an almost overwhelming amount of love in your body as Alexia’s eyes shut, too, her hand connected with your daughter’s. Both of them safe, and happy, and perfect.

❄ Pretty lights ❄
(Alexia’s favourite girls series)
Tumblr media
You and Alexia go to see the lights
Christmas time was always your favourite time of year. The pretty lights and decorations and just the wholesome feeling you would get during the holidays always made you feel at peace.
You honestly didn’t think you could love it more but the universe always has ways of surprising people. The warm hand that was placed gently on your thigh was proof of that.
Michael Buble was playing quietly on the radio as you sat in the most comfortable silence, throwing your favourite person and adoring glance every now and then. The gentle hum of her low voice buzzed in your ear as she sang along with the radio.
Taken by the absolute warmth of this scene, your hand grazed tenderly over her tanned arm, slowly making its ways down to where her hand was resting. Your fingers danced with hers for a minute before she opened her palm invitingly, welcoming your hand eagerly.
Alexia lifted your joined hands up to her lips, where she placed a delicate kiss to the back of your hand. You couldn’t help but let the red flush taint your cheeks as you stare at your conjoined hands resting on the console.
It still baffles you after all these years dating that she can still make you flustered. Alexia knows it too as she sends you a cheeky, not-so-discreet smirk. You let the peaceful silence consume you as you occupy yourself by looking out the window.
Barcelona was quite the city to see any day of the year, but something about the city at christmas time had captured your heart. (Or maybe it was the woman sitting beside you.)
Snow had fallen last night leaving the beautiful city covered in a dazzling white. A few snowflakes had started to fall since you had left your home but that didn’t bother you, in fact you encouraged it having not been used to snow from where you grew up.
The heating in the car did remind you that it was below minus degrees outside and you were almost there. You searched for your gloves and hat, preparing yourself for the first bitter shock when you got out of the car.
“Did we bring hats?” Alexia turned down the radio a tad so she could focus on your question. “Sí, I put them in the back seat.” You smiled softly at her memory because you would have completely forgotten them.
The closer you got the more excited you began to get. You and Alexia have had this long lasting tradition (more like competition) to go see which neighbourhood had the best christmas lights.
Alexia was one hundred percent positive that she had found the best lights ever, bragging all day about how she was going to win. You had complained that it was an unfair advantage as she had lived here her whole life and you hadn’t.
It was currently 11 o’clock, the digital lights in Alexia’s cupra wouldn’t let you forget as she drove you further into the heart of barcelona. Alexia pulled into this cute little car park, you bit your lip at the vein protruding from her massive hand that was on the wheel as she reversed into a spot.
You threw her a confused glance as she unbuckled her seatbelt and hopped out of her beloved car. You knew better than to open the door instead letting her do it to prevent the pout that would inevitably invade her face.
Sure enough she appeared at your door with an adorable grin, obviously happy at the thought of doing anything helpful for you. Ever the gentlewoman, Alexia offered her hand which you gladly accepted as she gracefully helped you out of the car.
“Gracias.” You thanked in her mother tongue before planting a kiss to her awaiting lips. The midfielder locked her car as she led you to this cute looking cafe that you had never seen before.
“Is this new?” You asked her as she fixed the hat on her head. “Opened two months ago. Mapi found it and told me it had the ‘greatest hot chocolate she has ever had.”
You laughed contagiously at your wife’s impression of her best friend. “Ahhh, so we are going here just so you can prove Maria wrong.” You teased bumping your shoulder to hers. “You get me.” Alexia sighed wistfully as she wrapped a strong arm around your shoulder, effectively bringing you into her warmth as she kissed the crown of your head.
The cafe wasn’t overly busy but it did have a nice buzz which Alexia had obviously noticed by the way her eyebrows raised in surprise that her best friend might have given her a decent recommendation. She was still scarred from the time Mapi gave her food poisoning after reassuring her that it would be the best thing she would ever taste.
Alexia pushed the door open and it held it for you with her usual charming smirk that always made your knees go weak. “After you hermosa.” Her accent purred as she beckoned you through. Alexia held the door for a few other people with a polite smile before resting her arm back around your shoulder.
You cupped her flushed cheek, pressing a quick kiss to her nose as you lined up for your order. Since Alexia was on her holidays, she could finally treat herself which is why her eyes immediately zoned in on the selection of cookies.
You followed her longing gaze, giggling sweetly at how excited she looked at the thought of finally having some sugar. “Do we want sugar cookies or chocolate chip?” She mumbled as she tried to make up her mind, leg tapping impatiently while she waited for the guy in front of you to finish ordering.
“Bebita which one?” She inquired, eyes not leaving the array of sweets for too long. “We can get both. One of each.” Alexia’s hazel orbs lit up at the genius suggestion and she licked her lips unknowingly, yet another gesture that pulled a giggle from you.
After what felt like years for Alexia, the man in front finished up and it was her turn to order. You let Alecia order, although you were fluent in Spanish you adored hearing how she spoke it, often encouraging her to stop speaking english which she refused, how else was she meant to converse with your dad about his terrible choice in teams.
The barista sent Alexia a shy smile but Alexia’s focus was solely on the cookies that were sitting on the counter. Although she must not have missed it as she placed her left hand right in the poor girl's eyeline. You couldn’t help but smile in amusement as her wedding ring glistened under the bright lights.
Alexia would do just about anything to show you off claiming that she felt selfish keeping you all to herself. The barista's smile dropped a fraction when she caught sight of the piece of jewellery but she managed to throw you a tight smile anyway.
After Alexia had shoved your hand with your card in it away and tapped her card, she took your hand and led you to where the other people were waiting. Alexia pulled one of the stools out from a table and offered it to you. After you politely declined she hopped up instead, needy hands immediately finding your waist.
You now stood in between her long legs, hands coming up to fiddle with the collar of her Barcelona jacket. Her ring clad thumb tapped against your hips as she skated for your order. You didn’t fail to notice how she didn’t once take her caramel eyes off of you, orbs flitting over every feature of your face that she had already memorised more than a million times.
“Pretty.” Your wife whispered, “So pretty.” Her cheeky grin was back as she watched the blush rise on your cheeks. You shook your head in amusement before bringing your hands to interlock behind her neck. You rewarded her with a feathery kiss, twirling her baby hairs in between your fingers as she sighed happily against your lips.
A large hand slid into the back pocket of your jeans as Alexia pulled you closer. Her other hand squeezed your waist encouragingly as she nipped at your bottom lip hoping to be let in.
You pulled back a fraction just to catch your breath but your wife didn’t like that as her hand slid up to cup your jaw, tenderly angling it back towards her awaiting mouth.
“Alexia!”
It was as if you weren’t even there. The minute the barista called her name your wife had nearly thrown you off of her as she raced up to her order. You grumbled as you followed her, annoyed at the interruption.
With a soft ‘gracias’ and nothing else, she was out the door, unwrapping her cookie and scoffing it. You decided to see if she would notice that you weren’t even with her by staying inside the cafe. It took Alexia an embarrassing amount of time to realise that you were in fact not attached to her.
You had to suppress your giggle as your wife frantically began to look around for you, mouth still full. Alexia, much to her relief, finally spotted you, shoulders sagging as she made her way back to you. You met her half way, feeling slightly guilty but much too amused to not laugh.
“Where did you go?” Alexia asked around her mouthful as her hand rested on your lower back. “You left me there.” You pouted playfully. Alexias eyes widened at your pout, quickly kissing it in hopes that it would disappear, “Lo siento cariño. I was just excited to eat my cookie.” You couldn’t hold back your laugh as you thumbed a few crumbs off of her chin, “I’m playing with you baby.”
Alexia huffed amusedly, “That’s your cookie gone.” You slapped her shoulder softly before leaning in to place a languid kiss to her lips. A soft smile dances across her face as she pecks your cheek a few times.
Without a word Alexia handed you your hot drink along with a piece of the half gone chocolate chip cookie. “Come on bebita, we have lights to see.” Your wife checked your hip before racing off towards her car.
You chuckled as she ushered you into her cupra, still holding the door. As she drove you closer to your destination, you took it as your duty to break off a piece of cookie and feed it to your wife.
Alexia laughed loudly as you waved it in front of her face. She took the piece gratefully and playfully bit at your hand which made you giggle. “Mi amor stop eating it all.”
You scoffed loudly before eating even more, “I’ve had one piece AlĂ©.” Alexia whined as you put another piece of ‘her’ cookie. “You are buying a new jar of nutella when we get home.” Alexia grumbled as you licked at your thumb. “I already have two more jars at home babe.” You break the news to her knowing that if she knew that she would have eaten both.
“We agreed! We agreed that you wouldn’t have it in the house during the season.” Alexia argued, absolutely gobsmacked at the thought of you eating nutella in her house without her.
“Just because you have to suffer doesn’t mean I have to.” You sing out as you finish your hot chocolate with an appreciative hum. “I see how it is.” You knew your wife wasn’t mad with how her eyes sparkled when she looked over at you.
Once the car was safely stopped at a red light, Alexia couldn’t stop herself but to lean over and cup you face, pulling you into a searing kiss. “Te amo mucho mi amor.”
You smiled, softly stroking her strong jaw, forehead to forehead. “Even when I eat your cookie.” Alexia hummed affectionalty, placing another tender kiss to your soft lips, “Sí, even when you eat my cookie.”
The rest of the drive was filled with laughter as Alexia told you about her catching Jana and her girlfriend making out in the storage closet just after a tough training session.
“Okay, you ready?” Alexia asked as she slowed down, nearing the neighbourhood. You nodded, giving her a soft smile when she tucks a strand of hair behind your ear.
You gasped when you first saw the lights. Alexia knew she won, you knew she won, but god was it deserved. The whole neighbourhood was lit up in an array of colourful lights, basking you and Alexia in the prettiest glow.
“AlĂ©, this is so beautiful.” You exhaled as your eyes were glued to a particularly pretty set of lights. “Not as beautiful as you bebita.” You hadn’t even realised Alexia had stopped the car until soft kisses were being pressed against your neck.
Your hand reached back slightly to cup the back of her neck as she left a teasing bite, soothing it with a lick. Her kisses trailed up to your cheek causing you to turn your head but instead of letting her kiss you, you pinched her chin between your fingers.
“I love you more than anything in this world Alexia Putellas.” Alexia’s breath was knocked from her lungs at the sincerity of your voice, “Por favor, let me kiss you.”
And you did.
Over and over again.

❄ Rare mornings ❄
Alexia's favourite girls series
Tumblr media
You and Alexia wake up before the kids
It was a rarity to be woken up by the sun and not three tiny bodies that normally acted as Alexia’s alarm clock. The former athlete checked her phone wondering had she just woken up extremely early, but she hadn’t. It was nine o’clock and somehow not even one of her girls had woken up.
You had stirred slightly next to her, burying yourself further you’re your neck as her warm hand gently strokes your swollen stomach. You were about six months at this stage, and it had been the easiest so far. You and Alexia had been through all these stages three times already, in Alexia’s words you were professionals.
You winced as you tried to get comfortable, but you already knew it was going to be one of those days where the feeling probably wouldn’t subside. Your eyes cracked open, and you were welcome with the sight of your very smiley wife. “Buenos días hermosa.” Her voice deep and raspy as it always was when she just woke up. You bask in the blonde’s attention before having the same realisation as your wife, “Did you kill the girls?” Alexia shrugs playfully, “They were just too loud.” You giggle at her comment before wincing again.
Alexia softly rubbed your stomach as she pulled you closer. Back when you were pregnant with Isabella, Alexia was an absolute mess. She panicked over every little thing that involved you and her daughter. This Alexia was very aware of everything that was happening without even asking, something you were eternally grateful for. “Vale mi amor. Standing up might do you some good and we can make the girls breakfast while we are ahead.” She offers softly as she slowly begins to get up not before she places a gentle kiss to your belly, a routine at this stage.
You gratefully took her hand as she helped you to sit up and then eventually stand. You rewarded her with a kiss that she happily reciprocated before quietly sneaking out of your room. Once Alexia has you safely downstairs, she runs back up to check on her daughters. Isabella’s room was closest as she peaks her head in, her room is decorated in posters of her favourite footballers. Alexia smiles softly as she finds her eldest dead to the world, with the softest of kisses to her temple she is out of the room without any disturbance.
Emilia was the heaviest sleeper out of all her siblings, Alexia often joking that she could sleep through a whole football game and not even stir. Alexia didn’t even bother creeping in knowing that Emilia wasn’t going to wake up from the noise. Emilia’s messy blonde hair was sprawled out against her pillow as she clutched on to her stuffy. Jana had gifted her the teddy when she born, and Emilia latched on to it much like Valentina and her rabbit.
Mr biggy was named when Emilia was old enough to speak and it was decided by her and Mateo her best friend. Alexia repositioned Mr Biggy until he was tucked firmly under the blonde’s arm. Alexia pressed a kiss to her cheek before leaving to check on Val.
Contrary to her older sister Val was like Alexia and slept lightly. Alexia wasn’t surprised as the four-year-old sat up at the sound of her door being opened. “Mami?” Her little voice rasped out as Alexia stepped further into the room. Val raised her arms as her Mami came closer. Alexia sat at the edge of her bed as Val crawled into her awaiting arms.
“Buenos días mi princesita.” Ale whispered as Val buried her face into her neck to hide from the light coming from the crack in her door. Alexia felt her mumble something against her neck as she gently pulled back. Val rubbed her eyes softly as she adjusted to being awake. Her little hands rested on Alexia’s shoulders as she looked up at her with her big hazel eyes, “M’tired.” Alexia giggled softly as a grumpy face took over her daughter. “Go back to sleep mi vida.” Val didn’t fight as her Mami guided her to lie back down.
Val’s eyes fluttered shut as she drowsily held on to her mother’s hand. Alexia tucked her in as she ducked down to press a kiss against her forehead. Satisfied that all her girls were safe she made her way downstairs, smiling as she heard you humming away. You were mixing the pancake batter as a large hand covered your own, with a kiss to your neck you knew she wanted to take over. You hauled yourself up on to the counter with surprisingly little struggle that even your wife looked impressed.
“They’re still a sleep?” You asked as you noticed she didn’t have a little army behind her. “Sí, they had a late night.” Alexia reminded you as you stole a bit of the Nutella she pulled out. In hindsight you probably shouldn’t have let them stay up to watch one more episode, but they pulled out their puppy dog eyes, and you and Alexia were weak. “We need to be stricter.” You laugh as Alexia hums noncommittedly, “But mi amor, you know I’m weak when it comes to their puppy eyes.”
You rub her shoulder sympathetically as she moves to stand between your legs, “They got that from you.” You complain as she stares at you with the same shining eyes as the ones last night. “It’s a Putellas superpower.” You nod your head as she smiles and leans in, connecting your lips as she sighs at the lack of interruptions. As always, her hands fall to your waist and yours wrap around her neck, affectively deepening it until you here footsteps. “Good morning!” You hide your laugh in your wife’s neck at Emilia’s entrance. She slides across the floor in her socks as she joins the family hug, “Are you making pancakes?” Her blue eyes light up as she sees the batter and the Nutella.
Alexia wrestles Emilia away from the jar as Emilia tries to feed her Nutella addiction. You watch fondly as your two blonde’s bicker playfully, “Mami, just one spoon por favor!” Alexia holds the spoon up out of reach, “I’ve been good!” She whines as she tries to climb up the former athlete’s body, “Emilia, Te darĂ© un poco si bajas.” Emilia immediately complies as she holds her hands out expectantly. Alexia just sends her a smug smile before moving the jar of Nutella away from Emilia. The 8-year-old’s jaw dropped as she watched her mother laugh teasingly. She sends her a glare before running over to you to complain. She struggles for five minutes as she tries to get up on to the counter before Alexia takes pity and moves to help her up. Not knowing that was exactly what she wanted she quickly turned in her arms and squirmed her way onto Alexia’s back and eventually her shoulders.
Alexia was so blindsided by what just happened and before she knew it Emilia had a mouthful of chocolate and a big smile plastered on her face. “Por favor, ayĂșdenme.” Alexia sighs as she turns to you, “Emilia get down and give your mami back her Nutella.” Emilia didn’t care what happened to the jar now that she had gotten some and smugly returned it to her mami. You tried to hide your smile so you could reprimand your daughter, but Alexia still looked a bit dazed, and Valentina had stumbled down sometime between the wrestling.
Alexia sighed in relief as she picked up the four-year-old, “You would never eat my Nutella would you Val.” It was whispered but just like her sister, her hazel eyes lit up. Alexia’s eyes widened as the girl tried to wiggle out of her grip and reach the jar herself. Emilia had pulled herself up on the counter and tucked herself into your side. She leaned down a kissed your stomach, “Bon dia bebita.” You carded your hand through her soft hair, untangling a few knots as she mumbled against your belly.
Emilia couldn’t wait to be an even bigger sister and was fiercely protective over her unborn sister. Eventually she looked up at you and you smiled down at her, “You remembered I existed huh?” Emilia giggled as you tickled her side, “Mama, I didn’t forget Mami distracted me.” Alexia made a sound of disgruntlement but was to busy with trying to make the pancakes and keep Val away from devouring the Nutella.
“Poor Mami always gets the blame.” Alexia pouts as she looks over at the two of you, “Sí, I’m always being ganged up on.” You coo softly as she lets you gently stroke her jaw, “My poor baby.” Emilia laughs as she launches herself into Alexia’s arms. Alexia grunts at the impact, arms winding around the little blonde as her daughter presses kiss after kiss against her face. Emilia leans her forehead against her mami’s, “Te amo Alexia.” You laugh loudly as Ale’s face falls; Emilia had found the ultimate way to tease her Mami and often used it to her advantage. Alexia hated being called anything but Mami by her little girls, always adamant that they would never ever grow up.
“Just joking Mami, I love you.” You smiled as Emilia’s laugh rang out through your house. Alexia tickled the girl unmercifully until tears were falling down her cheeks and she buried herself into Alexia’s neck, trying to catch her breath. “What is all this noise?” A new voice joined the commotion as Isabella made her appearance. “Just your sister waking up and choosing violence.” You shrugged as your eldest slumped down on one of the chairs.
Alexia was lecturing Emilia playfully as she threatened to tickle her again and after a solemn promise to behave Emilia was set free. “Can I get some Nutella?” Isabella asked as her eyes focused on something behind Alexia. “Touchy subject this morning Is.” Alexia crossed her arms with a huff, “No, you cannot until the pancakes are ready, vale.” Isabella scoffed before mirroring her Mami’s actions, “How come they got some, that’s so unfair.”
Emilia sneakily wiped at her chin as you beckoned her over to clean it fully. “Emilia nearly killed me and Val
” Alexia turned to look at her unsupervised daughter and nearly shrieked as Val shovelled another handful of Nutella into her mouth. “Ay dios mio! Basta, Valentina Elisabeth Putellas, drop it.” Val just smiled up innocently at her mother as she licks at her hand. Alexia sighs tiredly as she picks up the half empty jar and places it onto the highest shelf, “Estas chicas me van a matar.”
Taking pity on your wife you gently reprimand your youngest as she licked at her lips. Alexia finally cooks the pancakes as you sort out the state your daughter is in with chocolate basically everywhere. You force Isabella to grab plates and try to settle Emilia and Valentina into their seats, so they don’t cause any trouble. Isabella decided to help her Mami plate the breakfast up, earning her a grateful kiss and a comment about ‘someone finally being on her side.’ Once all your kids were settled and eating their breakfast with Nutella you made two cups of coffee and handed one to Alexia. A strong arm wrapped around your waist as you watched your kids playfully bicker with each other. “Menaces.” Alexia mutters but anyone with eyes could see the pure adoration she harboured for her girls.
You settle onto one of the stools by the island, Alexia hot on your tail as she passed Isabella some sugar. You felt a sharp kick to your stomach and your hand fell to your bump; you intertwined your hand with Alexia’s before placing it where your daughter kicked. You impossibly fell more in love with the woman in front of you as she laughed brightly, “She wants to join the fun early, don’t you mi preciosa.” Alexia was at eye level with you as she kissed your nose, “I love you and our family more than anything en el mundo.”
You melt into her arms as she wraps her body around you, seeking brief comfort as she becomes overwhelmed. You catch Isabella’s eye who sends you a concerned look before you nod her over, not one to ever let her eldest sister do something without her Emilia followed and so did Val. Alexia felt arms wrap around her from behind as she turns, she’s face to face with Isabella who is balancing on the spinney stool. Emilia latches onto her waist with the softest smile while Val’s little arms wound around her legs.
Alexia guides each of their hands to your stomach, letting them feel the little kicks. Isabella who had experienced it before clung onto to Alexia who happily reciprocated her hug, cradling her head to her chest as she watches Emilia’s pure fascination and Val’s wonderment. “BebĂ© princesa in Mama’s tummy.” Val asks her Mami as she gently prods at your stomach, “sĂ mi vida.” Emilia smiled as she took Val’s hand and held it up to your stomach, Val giggled as she felt the pressure against your skin, “That’s our little sister Vally.” Emilia coos as she holds her little sister close to her. You sent Alexia a playful glare, “We don’t know if it’s a girl yet.” You were met with identical knowing looks by all four girls. You already knew what was coming as you locked eyes with your wife. Just on time all girls chorused, “She’s a Putellas.”

Emilia has some concerns over her future
Emilia had known for a while that maybe football wasn’t her life. From her very first session when she was a lot younger, she always had more of a fascination with picking flowers and making daisy chains or doing cartwheels across the field instead of kicking the ball. She had started gymnastics a few years ago and had taken a very keen liking to it.
However, as she got older, she wanted to prioritise gymnastics, but the guilt of quitting football was slowly creeping up on her. It didn’t help that her older sister absolutely thrived on the football field, Emilia couldn’t help but notice how her Mami’s eyes absolutely lit up with pride as she watched Issy playing football. The last thing Emilia wanted was to disappoint her Mami. Her Mami, who went above and beyond for her and always showed up no matter what. Her Mami, who had won so many different awards for just how good she was at playing football. Her Mami, who always made her feel safe and so incredibly loved.
Emilia was always encouraged to communicate her feelings to her parents, something that was instilled into her since she was much younger. Now she was eight years old and for the first time ever she was a little bit scared to talk to her Mami. Emilia had been working up the courage to tell her Mami that she didn’t want to play football anymore, but it just so happened that Isabella had won a very important match and Mami was bringing them to get ice cream to celebrate. Mami was smiling so big, and Emilia didn’t want to be the reason her Mami got upset.
It didn’t take a lot for Alexia to notice something was wrong with Emilia. The normally animated girl was unusually quiet as she shovelled some ice cream into her mouth. Isabella was on cloud nine as she conversed with her Mami on the tactics of the game and whether they should stick or change it up slightly. “
Tal vez deberíamos poner a Lola en la delantera el próximo Partido.” Emilia’s head dropped even lower as she listened to her Mami and sister converse. Alexia got increasingly more worried as it had been at least an hour with complete radio silence from Emilia. They were on their way home now, all packed into Alexia’s Cupra as she turned the volume of Rosalia’s new song down a little.
Isabella was still mumbling away happily as she brushes a little bit of grass off her kit. Emilia was staring at her older sister, Mr Biggy clutched in her arms and Alexia thought that maybe Emilia was a little jealous over her sisters win. Completely misinterpreting the situation Alexia looks through the mirror with a small smile, “Hey Meels, you have a big match coming up too. I can’t wait to come watch you play.” Emilia’s heart clenched in her chest at the hopeful look in her Mami’s eyes and she forced a tight smile and a nod which seemed to placate an oblivious Alexia who had made the situation much worse.
Isabella smiled softly at her younger sister, “Meels, you can wear my green boots, the ones that you loved.” Emilia once again nodded before curling in on herself that little bit more. Emilia decides then and there that she wasn’t going to be selfish and just work harder at football. She didn’t want to make Isabella or Mami upset and maybe she would enjoy it. She loved watching Mami play when she used to play for Barcelona, and she loves going to Isabella’s games.
Emilia’s mind raced with all her favourite people and most of them played football, all her Tia’s who raised her on a football field, and she was now just throwing it away. Before Emilia knew it her eyes were filling with tears as she tried to swallow around the lump in her throat. The blonde tried to breath and calm herself down, but she was all worked up now and she wanted some comfort from her Mami while she still could. “Mami, No me siento bien.” She sniffled as the tears started falling down her flushed cheeks. Alexia quickly found somewhere to poll over so she could give her daughter her full attention.
Alexia unbuckled her seat belt and turned her body around to make sure Emilia hadn’t gotten sick. She was in full Mami mode, and it felt like her heart stopped beating as Emilia cried. Isabella held her little sisters’ hand with her own frown of concern and started gently rubbing her back in hopes to provide some comfort. “¿QuĂ© pasa nena?” Alexia questioned as Emilia struggled to catch her breath until eventually, she reached out just like she used to when she was a little bit younger. Before she knew it her car door was open, and she was in her Mami’s arms. She buried her face into her Mami’s neck as she whimpered softly, clinging into her jumper as her Mami sways her gently.
Alexia was distraught as she tried to calm her daughter who she hadn’t seen this upset in a very long time. Alexia wished you were here in hopes of getting Emilia to open up, but Daniela was way too little to leave the house yet, so you stayed at home with Val. Emilia whimpered again and Alexia needed to get her home and hold her until all her hurt went away. Isabella had also got out of the car to wrap her arms around both girls. “¿Se siente mal?” Emilia had a history of motion sickness and still had trouble with long car journeys, but she had never cried like this. The only response she got was a shrug as she sniffled softly, “Vale, mi princesa, we are nearly home just a few more minutes.”
Alexia felt as if her heart was being ripped out of her chest as Emilia cried for her the minutes she put her back into her seat. Isabella tried to be a replacement, but Emilia wanted her Mami. Emilia was sobbing now completely overwhelmed by her big emotions as she squirmed in her seatbelt, whining for her Mami as she got into the front seat. Alexia tore of her jumper in hopes to calm Emilia down with her familiar smell, Isabella held it close to her sister as she gently stroked her hair. Not even Mr Biggy was comforting Emilia and she hated hat she couldn’t stop crying.
Alexia had to drive slowly as her hands had started to shake slightly and she would never put her girls in risk. Alexia didn’t stop talking the whole way home, eyes frantically checking her mirror every time Emilia cried out her name. “Mami! I need you!” Isabella cooed pressing kisses to Emilia’s temple as Alexia pulled into your driveway. Alexia’s heart was absolutely shattered, her baby needed her and nothing in the world mattered more than getting her into her arms.
“Estoy aquĂ mi bebĂ©, estĂĄs a salvo. Estamos en casa y te tengo siempre mi princesa.” Isabella ran into the house bringing Alexia’s jumper and Mr Biggy as she made sure Emilia’s bed was nice a cozy. “Hey, Is, You’re home how did you get
?” You immediately noticed something was wrong when Isabella didn’t stop fidgeting with Emilia’s bed. “What’s wrong Issy?” You gently asked as you grabbed her hands, “Something’s wrong with Emilia Mama.” Isabella fell into you as she yearned for her own comfort, your mind raced with endless possibilities, but you remained calm and held your eldest close. “She wouldn’t stop crying and calling for Mami.” You shushed her gently as you focused on making her feel better.
You slowly kneeled, still a bit sore from just giving birth a few weeks ago. ‘Look at me Issy, everything’s okay. Mami has Emilia and we will find out what’s wrong, there is nothing to worry about okay.” You felt Isabella relax in your hold as you placed kisses against her cheek, “You are the best big sister ever and I love you very much.” Isabella smiled feeling a lot better now that her thoughts had been reassured. With one last kiss and a promise to let her stay up a bit later tonight, Isabella was guided to go have a shower after her game.
The minute you caught eyes with your wife you knew something was very wrong. Emilia had Alexia’s shirt in such a tight grip that you were worried her little hand was going to cramp. Alexia was walking slowly into the house as Emilia cried softly into her neck, you approached at the same pace, gently stroking her blonde hair and coaxing her out of her Mami’s shoulder. Emilia whimpered at the interruption but when she saw it was you, she cried out your name, your wife gently passed her on to you. She didn’t go far as her arms slithered around you and pulled you both into her body.
You took some time to cradle Alexia’s head and press kisses to her temple, she looked heartbroken as she leaned further into you. “It’s all okay, we are right here Meelie. What hurts baby?” Emilia shakes her head as she looks around wildly, eyes swollen and red. “Do you want to go lie down?” Emilia nodded softly as you readjusted her with a slight wince. Alexia was on full alert mode and her hands hovered your body as you placed a reassuring kiss to her lips. “Can you check on Dani, I put her down about twenty minutes ago?” Alexia nodded as she sighed softly, “Everything is going to be fine AlĂ©.” Alexia kisses you again and coaxes Emilia out of your neck so she could give her the most loving kiss as she smoothed out her hair. “Te amo tanto mi princesa, eres mi todo.”
To her relief Emilia smiled softly and kissed her Mami’s cheek. “I love you too.” It was sniffled but it brought some much-needed relief into the heart of the former athlete. You brought her up to the safety of her room before quickly cuddling up with her, Mr Biggy found refuge in her arms, and you helped her put on her Mami’s jumper. She had calmed down significantly as she grew tired from crying, now she just wanted to talk to her Mama about the situation. “What happened sweetheart?” You noticed her looking at you intently which normally meant she had something on her mind.
“I’m scared.” Her small voice rang out as she cuddled closer to you. “Why are you scared Meels?” You guided her, knowing that she was ready to talk now. Emilia pouted as her eyes filled with tears again and you shushed her gently, rubbing her back until she calmed down. “You can tell me and Mami anything, you know that my baby.” Emilia nodded as her eyes shined from her tears. Her small fingers wrapped around Mr Biggy’s ear as she mumbled something you couldn’t understand. You pulled her impossibly closer, offering your left hand so she could play with your wedding ring something she always used to calm herself down. “I didn’t hear that Meels.” You gently told her as she took a deep breath.
“I don’t
want to play
football anymore.” She stuttered as the words tumbled out; you could see the tension leave her body as she finally told you, her problem. You were incredibly relieved that this is all it was, but you knew exactly what the problem was and why Emilia wanted her Mami so bad in the car. “Meels I know, your gymnastics is starting to clash with it. Mami had been talking to your football coach to prepare them for your leave.” Emilia sat up slowly as she processed the information she was just given. “Mami won’t be upset.” You giggle softly at the pout on her face, “Meels, Mami is going to be so relieved when she hears that this is why you were crying.” Emilia perked up, “Really? Promise?” You held out your pink as she beamed brightly, “Pinky promise.”
You kissed her head, “Your Mami loves you so much not just for the things you do but for being you. Do you want to know a secret?” Emilia nodded with a curious head tilt, “Mami was the one who suggested you do Gymnastics when she saw your cartwheels.” Emilia nearly burst with joy as she clung onto you tightly. “I am so proud of you for telling me. Did you get very overwhelmed?” You asked trying to figure out how her emotions might have taken over so you can be more prepared next time.
“My thoughts made me worried. I didn’t want to upset Isabella or my Tia’s.” You kissed her again, as she cuddled Mr Biggy. “Your Tia’s love you so much Meels and Isabella will be delighted she gets to keep the goals all to herself.” Emilia giggled as you tickled her, “I want Mami.” You nodded knowing that your wife wanted Emilia right now too. It was as if Alexia knew her daughter was looking for her as there was a soft knock at the door. Alexia had calmed down a little bit now that she was home with her family, Daniela was so tiny, and Alexia softly rocked her as she snoozed. Alexia would be lying if she didn’t say she was walking considerably slower past Emilia’s door, but it was worth it when she heard her favourite sound, Emilia’s giggle.
Emilia lit up at the sight of her and Alexia had to stop herself from running to the other side of the room to get to her. Alexia got under the covers as Emilia fell into her. Your eyes told Alexia all she needed to know; it wasn’t anything horrific. You let them have their cuddle before encouraging Emilia to tell your wife what was wrong. Emilia settled on top of her Mami before locking her fingers with hers, “Mami I don’t want to play football anymore.” There was no shift in Alexia’s smile as she stared up adoringly at her daughter, she sat up and cupped her face. “Te amo mucho mi princesa. I don’t care what you do as long as you are happy.”
Emilia smiles happily as she rests against her Mami’s chest. “You have a gymnastic competition next week and all you Tia’s want to come. Is that okay?” Emilia nodded tiredly as she cuddled Mr Biggy, “I would love that.” Alexia kissed her hair softly before lying down and bringing her to her chest. “I’m going to stay with her for a bit.” You nodded softly as you leaned down to kiss her. “You are the greatest mother Alexia Putellas, never forget that.”

You and Alexia have a scare on your way to Alba's
It was only a ten-minute drive to pick Isabella up from Alba’s. She had looked after her goddaughter for the night while you and Alexia celebrated your Anniversary. You had been fiddling around with the radio until you found a station that you liked when Alexia passed you the aux. You leaned over to kiss her cheek gratefully as you quickly threw on your playlist. Alexia’s hand was settled on your thigh while you stroked her forearm comfortingly.
“I really needed that last night Ále, thank you baby.” Alexia bit her lips gently at the memory of her hips meeting yours repeatedly. It had been the first proper time since your daughter was born and she was nervous but so caring. You had wanted her to make love to you and that she did and God she did it well. You shifted in your seat trying to calm yourself down before you make her pull over and take you again.
“You are not sore, you promise you’re okay?” She asked for the millionth time, and you squeezed her arm in reassurance, “Yes, I promise, I feel good, nearly too good so please stop looking at me like that.” She laughs loudly before taking your hand and kissing the back of it sweetly. “Echo de menos a mi niña.” Alexia confessed and you nodded hurriedly, completely understanding her and wanting to be back as a family as soon as possible.
“I hope she’s awake.” Alexia huffed amusedly, “She is with Alba, she is going to be knocked out mi amor.” Alba claimed the fun aunt from the very start, and she had stuck to her word as she had gone and bought a countless number of toys for the 6-month-old who could not properly appreciate them. It was clear from the start that Alba was just as protective as her older sister and would do anything for her family and that had always included you and now her heart and soul Isabella.
You had no doubt that if anything was to happen to the both of you that your daughter would be taken care of. That was something you never had to think about until you saw a car barrelling towards you as you shouted Alexia’s name in pure fear. You think you might have blacked out for the next few minutes. The only thing you could feel was the strong beating of your heart as it raced in your chest.
You were terrified to open your eyes, you may not be dead but if your wife was then you might as well be. You were so unbelievably unaware of your surroundings. The images tearing through your mind were crushing the air from your lungs. Your ears were ringing, and you didn’t feel or see any signs of life from the woman next to you. You were choking down a sob as your reality sank in. You were begging whoever could hear you for your wife to be okay not yet able to open your eyes. You felt your car door open and a familiar voice frantically calling your name.
Alexia’s hands were everywhere as she pulled you out of the car, thankfully unharmed as her eyes scoured your body. “Bebita! ¿Esta bien? What hurts? Are you okay?” Your body was overwhelmed at the sight of her in front of you that you didn’t register the fact that Alexia had managed to swerve completely out of the way and only bumped into the barrier at the side of the road. Alexia nearly ripped the car door off as she got to your side, pure terror spreading through her at how you were not responding to her. Her hands shook as they hovered over your face, and she was absolutely trembling at the lack of response from you. “¿Mi amor?” It came out as a broken sob and that’s what snapped you out of it. “Ále! I
Are you okay?” Alexia couldn’t even comprehend the relief that flooded her body as she cried. “Sí, sí, I’m fine. I was so worried! You weren’t answering me.”
You collapsed into her, the absolute terror of what just happened knocked the wind from your lungs and you felt like she couldn’t breathe. “I love you.” Alexia’s handheld your head so gently as if any touch would harm you when it was the exact opposite. You gripped onto her so tight, “I love you, Ále I love you.” You chanted like your life depended on it.
“Te amo, te amo, te amo, te amo mucho, mucho.” Alexia squeezed you, making sure you were actually alright. “Issy, Isabella, Mi niña pequenita. Necesito ver a nuestra niƄa!” Alexia frantically ranted as she looked around panicked. “Ále
Alexia, look at me! We are fine, you made sure of that. You protected us, you did so good!” You stared up at her, making sure she knew and understood everything that you were telling her. Alexia took a deep breath as a paramedic came over to make sure the both of you were okay. Alexia also gave a statement to the police before calling Alba.
Eli drove Alba and Isabella to where Alexia had told her to meet them. She had just about calmed down, her hands still shaking slightly at the thoughts of what could have happened if Alexia didn’t swerve. She looked back at the little girl snoozing away in her car seat and it felt like a hand had wrapped around her heart and squeezed.
Alba was frantically tapping her leg, asking her Mami about a million questions to calm herself down. When they had arrived, she bolted out to throw herself into her sisters’ arms. Alexia held her just as tight, reassuring her that it was fine until Alba was out of her arms and into yours. “Issy?” Alexia asked before racing over to where her mother was standing with her daughter, “Mami, I
Issy, Te amo, te amo mucho.” Eli shushed her eldest as she pressed a kiss to her forehead before handing her Isabella.
Alexia cried silently into her daughter’s shoulder, pressing soft kisses against her chubby cheeks. ‘Mi niña perfecta, mi princesa. Te amo bebita, te amo mucho.” She cooed holding her closer to her body as Issy blinked up at her, not understanding anything that was happening but grateful to see her mother.
She nuzzled her little face into her neck, something that Alexia had not known she needed until her little girl had completely calmed her down. “Let’s go see Mama, sí.” You were surrounded by your family as Alba still clung onto you. You had always been such a huge figure in Alba’s life, and she loved you just as much as she loved her own sister. Eli as calm as ever was stroking your hair and making you smile just like she used to when you were younger.
Your eyes lit up when you saw your two girls. Alexia’s arm wrapped around you as she made sure you could see Isabella. “Hi, Is, are you sleepy? We need to get you home huh? I love you so much my darling.” Alexia kissed your forehead before inviting her mother and sister into the hug.
It might not have been a serious accident and luckily you and Alexia were fine, but it was still terrifying and as you held your little girl closer to you, you couldn’t help but feel a new sense of appreciation for the life you built.
