ok well im back from the anime con i went to and im finished with this year's education (wahoo yay!), and am currently finishing up my last batch of commissions and working on a new sheet!

i have a bunch of different commission options im planning on offering so here's the question:

HI I LOVE DIRKS POWERS- I’m curious, what powers do you think the other two canon heart player would have? Rogue of Heart for Nepeta and Mage of Heart for Meulin. I’m imagining nepeta could do something like… redistribute the impulses of her ally’s onto their enemy’s so they can Lock In idk. Maybe for Meulin she can do like a Soul Read or some shit and is able to see souls Undertale style. Maybe could use the knowledge of Heart to find their weak points (insecurities?) to take the enemies down. I would love to hear your thoughts on their powers!!!

yeah those sound fantastic! i also think thieves/rogues would be able to steal skills from enemies and either use them for themselves (thieves) or apply them to their friends like a status buff. i think it would also be interesting if she would be able to manifest metaphorical objects tied to people's identity, like taking eridan's genocidal beliefs and turning it into a physical object that represents those beliefs like a time bomb or something LOL.

i think you absolutely nailed meulin for mage of heart! i think the information she knows would also be limited to how much she interacts with people, the more she interacts with the person the more information is revealed to her a la "mage experiencing their aspect and thus getting hands on knowledge thru it". she would also get character hunches, like what certain people have an aptitude for, what they are against, what makes them tick as themselves.

i want to hear more about the dirk classpect powers! but also i want to see your take on Jake’s classpect powers too

dw im thinking of doing all the kids! in the meantime:

Soul Lightning: the very basic power that dirk canonically has and shows repeatedly in the comic itself. from what we know, he can produce a sort of lightning that tears souls out of their bodies and tears it apart (assumedly. dirk doesnt actually get to kill anyone with this power. sad!). for the rest of his hypothetical powers, i used this one as the basis: association with lightning and physical action (use of hands) and being really direct with its application. very little metaphorical bullshit hes just Doing It.

Soul Weapons: a play off of that original idea of electricity being able to sever the soul from the body, and dirk's consistent action to treat his body/self as a tool to accomplish his goals (see unite synchronization and half of the shit dirk does LOL). its an overt reference to revolutionary girl utena and the raiden shogun from genshin impact, both overtly about self weaponization, dehumanization, etc. A lot of his powers i based off of famous anime references because of his 'otaku nature'.

Sheer Presence: THIS is another anime reference! the trope when anime protagonists/antagonists gain a menace aura, but this time the aura actively attacks the soul of those in the aura. this one specifically goes from the angle of a prince "destroying through aspect" specifically. in contrast to soul weapons which physically damages his enemies with his soul while emotionally damaging his sense of self esteem/respect, it is purely his identity (or, sheer presence) that is damaging others. he is the center of gravity here, overbearing every other being with himself.

Flatline: probably one of the weakest in this set LOL but i wanted to play with the idea of being able to collapse what connects your 'self' with your 'body' into one connection and severing the line, trapping your soul outside of your body. its plays into dirk's perception of "self", being awake on derse simultaneously as his actual body probably fucked with how he connects his body with his "self". so another prince of heart who believes the self is inherent with the body wouldnt have this power, but because of dirk's perception he does.

Gunhearted: this is a sub power under soul weapons! its a reference to yuyu hakusho (+all other anime derivations from the og soul gun power LOL) and undertale. not a lot of deep thoughts on this one, its more so practicality (long ranged weapon would be useful generally) and cultural knowledge (dirk probably watched as much anime as he possibly could).

i also wanna quickly address that all of these powers are like, solo dirk powers rather than fraymotifs. i would also love to do fraymotifs, but im doing one thing at a time so i dont die <333

Regarding the classpect power commissions previous anon asked about, is that price including the awesome sketches or do those cost extra?

this ask mystified me for a while because arent we paying for the drawings or are people actually willing to pay for just my brain thoughts. yes it includes my banging sketches LOL

I would LOOVVEE to see what your ideas on powers for an Heir of Heart would be!! :B (I love your ideas and honestly can’t think of any of my own 😞😞) someone once said though that it would be like Danny Phantom, and I thought that was funny hhehehe

some ideas!!! sole-soul is directly ripped off of ideas of touhou/undertale while trying to connect to the idea of heirs "becoming"/"being consumed by" their aspect, while hegemony identity is taking the idea of mass culture/collective identity being modified to a physical representation, invoking the heir's role of "change".
