November winds came like they always do

Unprepared as usual I nevertheless settled in for the long haul

Another November and a little more grey appeared on my face and head

‘We go grey together’ I cried

All but the most important words received from a distant land. The rest discarded and useless anyway

Another November was not lost on me

My ancestors saw fit to prepare this soul, this warm blood a gift of the ancients

It wasn’t about strength but fortitude

Another November and I grinned

My heart at last was home

I wanted to write a story

But lacked any characters that held my interest

I was after all, through no choice of my own

Surrounded by vampires

and knowing this was no movie

I was never the less convinced of the undead

So I wrote of towering trees and tall grass

Full moons and planets of deeper understanding

Of rolling waters and juniper bush, their sweet burning wood an aroma of meditation

Of great beasts and their indifference to my childlike wonder in their presence

My pen and camera merely a tool of capture

An old story often told in ancient histories again and again

But this story, this was my little story

Ghostly and indifferent, I took refuge

The need to be seen and heard

Look at me! They screamed. Banter the language of the masses. So many words and nothing said

my language, so rarely spoken. Who would listen anyway? But my beacon shined bright. Across an ocean, a lonely boat lost at sea

Through the darkness and out of the storm, a silhouette from the shore. In the trees a refuge

A ravens cry, a Peacocks pride

A tribe awaits. And the light it shines
