little rant about tbhx tumblr fandom/asks

I don't mean to make any trouble but I did promise myself not to self censor on mty tumblr and this is genuinely a little weird to me.

I won't mention the exact posts that spurred this (although it's probably obvious), but I have seen multiple anon asks constantly asking for drawings of “anime style tbhx” or "draw __ but copy the official style of the show" to multiple creators now and they always sound a little bit off. sometimes there are things that could be compliments sprinkled in, like calling the art cute, but something about this phrasing makes it seem demanding or criticizing? maybe it's not intentionally worded like this but I would like to say it definitely comes off a little heavy-handed. This is in part because the anon in question often follows up asking for another drawing because the last drawing 'wasn't anime-styled at all, try again' or something along those lines criticizing the ways in which it was not to their imagining. I suspect it's the same person for all of them. I would beware because it for one feels rude and for another reads almost like a person prompting AI to adjust things but like. instead treating a real living breathing artist who puts in work this way. especially when asking for a obviously high-quality drawing. The way that there is always a follow-up ask for more art makes me feel as if the person is fishing for a user who is willing to draw them free art. ofc if its just an excuse to draw more and the artists who've gotten these asks don't mind it's no trouble! but I can't help but feel concerned since I've seen multiple creators answer "asks" phrased this way. I'd love to have some discussion about this too if anyone would like/ has also noticed this.

Anyways, this is the (hopefully) apparently wanted 'part 2' (@angelpuppyjay I'm looking at you) to my previous fic. I say 'part 2', but this is really more like a sequel. That "story for another time" I guess I alluded to in the first lol.

Hero X was not supposed to fall in love. The notion alone was simply preposterous to even think about it, let alone not only consider, but even actually happen.

Yet, here he was: utterly, hopelessly, absolutely, and truly pathetically in love — and it was with you.

Damn it.

Why did you have to walk into his life the way you did? Why did you have to be so goddamn cute and irresistible? So relatable and silly? Why did you have to compliment him the way you sometimes did, completely unaware of the effect you had on him.

He hated it, truly (Lies). He hated the way you'd sometimes call him 'cute' whenever he stumbled over his words, trying and most times miserably failing to flirt with you. He hated the way you smiled and laughed at some of his antics.

Most of all, though, he hates the way you're slowly beginning to consume his thoughts. X's thoughts shouldn't be on some random, albeit cute, person he just happened to run into on one fateful day when he'd gone to his favorite bakery after work.

And yet, they were. His thoughts were utterly and completely consumed by you.

Not even the occasional overtime from his office job could take his mind off of you for long, nor his hero work as X.

He wasn't supposed to fall in love. That wasn't part of his plans. The top hero wasn't meant nor allowed to have that kind of luxury... right?

Well, whatever, he supposed. It was far too late now, for he feared that X— that Bai Xizhuang had already fallen far too deeply into the waters of almost pathetic, unwavering, and downright terrifying love for you.

... And, if he was being entirely honest, he was actually strangely okay with that.

He wasn't certain how long it'd taken him, mentally battling with himself whether or not this was really okay — whether or not him falling in love was actually okay. Longer than he liked, he was certain of that.

Eventually, though, you did something that seemed to win the internal battle within for him...

It was during one of those days the two of you would hang out at that place the two of you had initially met: the bakery.

You were sitting across from him, the table covered in several plates of many varying desserts the both of you had ordered. This had become a nearly weekly occurrence for the two of you: you'd meet up at this bakery, order two of nearly every single thing they had available (one for each of you, of course), then you'd sit across from one another and chat about how your weeks had gone, what you'd done, and so on — of course, he never told you about his... second 'job'.

It was like any one of those other days, things went the same as they always did. Perhaps he was being even quieter than usual, and maybe he was also getting more lost in his thoughts —because of the internal battle he was having with himself— but it wasn't like you'd notice that—

Except, that's exactly what you did.

"Bai Xizhuang? Are you okay?" Your voice caused him to flinch, nearly dropping his fork as he blinked his dark eyes to focus on you again. You were frowning a little, your expression showing visible worry.

He quickly cleared his throat, adjusting his glasses —a nervous habit he had— as he allowed a quiet, nervous laugh to leave him.

"Yes, I'm alright. Sorry, I'm just..." He began, though he trailed off when his eyes met yours.

God, he loved your eyes so much — He loved you so much, actually, but that wasn't the point—

He smiled, shaking his head.

"I'm just tired from work, don't worry about me. Please, continue what you were saying. I'm listening." He eventually said before taking a bite of the slice of strawberry cake in front of him.

He couldn't tell you what exactly it was about that moment that made him finally decide that — Yes. This is okay. Loving you is okay. — and thus, begin spending way too many hours planning how exactly he was going to confess these nearly overwhelming feelings for you.

Maybe, it was the way you worried over him. Or the way, even after what he'd said, you'd silently offered him your slice of strawberry cake, certainly knowing that it was not only one of his favorites, but that he wasn't being entirely honest — and you'd done so with that sweet smile of yours, too.

Whatever it was, his mind was made up that day: He would confess to you, and he'd make damn sure that everything was utterly perfect. He needed it to be. After all, as far as he was concerned: a perfect person like you deserved no less—

Though, you seemed to have other plans...

"I love you, Bai Xizhuang."

Bai Xizhuang nearly choked on his X Cola as the two of you had been walking side by side, having just arrived at your apartment's front door (Him being the gentleman he is, he insists on walking you home every single time you two hang out).

He couldn't really believe what you'd just said, and his expression showed it. His dark eyes were wide, staring at you in utter disbelief and astonishment, but his face gave away how flustered he was hearing you say those words.

Was this real? Did you actually just say what he thought you did?

In truth, he didn't know how to feel. Relieved that you felt the same way as him? Or, upset that you just totally and unknowingly ruined the last few days —weeks— of his carefully thought-out, crafted planning for how, when, where, and so on he was going to confess to you—??

Whelp. It doesn't matter now — Not when all he's feeling now is that almost pathetic love for you.

Because you just had to be so damn cute and giggle at his utterly adorable reaction to your impulsive confession, and you even abruptly stepped closer to give him a quick, chaste kiss on his cheek, successfully snapping him back to reality.

You could swear there were little hearts in his eyes. Though, you weren't certain with the way his glasses had fogged up, concealing his dark eyes from your view.

Either way, seeing the —most of the time— composed man practically melting was truly the most precious thing you'd seen.

You had a feeling there was a lot more of that to come, and you were more than happy about that.

"See you tomorrow. Good night, Bai Xizhuang." You told him in that sweet voice and with that warm smile of yours after unlocking and opening your front door, seeing the way he was now holding his cheek that you'd kissed.

You'd never forget that cute little smile he had on his face, it now equivalent to that of a totally devoted, lovesick idiot — your devoted, lovesick idiot.

He could only hum and nod, barely muttering out a, "See you tomorrow" and "Good night" as he watched you go inside for the night.

To hell with his plans. You are his now, and he doesn't want it any other way.

Heyhey! I sent you an anon ask a bit ago (pretty sure, I don't remember), but I'm a writer as well and your X stuff has made me rlly want to write for TBHX (X in particular, unfortunately /lh) but I'm rlly new to writing x reader stuff, so I was wondering if you'd have any tips maybe? I'd greatly appreciate it 🙏 Also lowkey rly anxious about posting my stories and letting ppl read them, but that's a whole other thing 😭

AWW HII !! <3 , huhu ;-; I'd say I'm also pretty new to writing ( In general ) So I don't have that many tips either , but I'll try my best to help out hehe- please take this with a grain of salt .

X reader stuff is like.. On top of the hierarchy of self indulgence, so like I'd say the biggest part in writing x readers would be is to like use second person, with the "you's" and what not, I mean you can use first person too but like- It can sometimes border into OC, which isn't bad I swear ( it rlly... depends on the writing style ! )

I quess this would be more of nitpick, but I suppose avoid like Y/N stereotypes; with the " Stop Fighting!! ", or the saviour complex that Y/N's usually have, and sometimes mary sue... ( OP readers can count in that context but as I said it depends.. ),

x readers are very much self insert, so I'd say avoid like giving reader features- you can dance around it with hair and eyes, but giving like actual features like blonde hair blue eyes would ruin it a lot for people,

Last tip I suppose is to have fun ! Like this is your writing, why care about other people's opinions so much? Your writing is for yourself remember that, getting recognized is a bonus but like; If you do experience anyone negative just block them, dont let them ruin your fun y'know !

As I said take it with a grain of salt hehe, I'm not too good at giving advice :,) With posting, don't be shy! There will always be an audience for the content you put out so dw! Who knows hehe you might also meet your future friends with that !! :3
