Summary — Chris catches Beth playing his favorite game (yes I headcanon that Chris loves the Silent Hill franchise)

She sat in front of the TV, Silent Hill 2 on the screen. Beth set up the room to curtains half closed, which is just the way she liked it for her horror games.

She crept through the fog, tense.

Then-

“Is that Silent Hill 2?”

Beth jumped, nearly dropping the controller.

She turned.

Chris stood in the doorway, wide-eyed.

Beth blushed. She didn't know if it was from embarrassment or something else.

“Uh…maybe?”

Chris took a step forward, voice rising with excitement.

“Beth! Are you kidding me? Silent Hill 2? Do you even know how iconic this game is?!”

Beth hesitated.

“I…kinda like it?”

Chris laughed, and the full on nerd mode got activated.

“Beth, this is peak psychological horror. The soundtrack? Akira Yamaoka? Literal genius. And the sound design? That radio static is an anxiety mechanic.”

Beth blinked.

“Interesting...”

Chris sat down next to her like he belonged there.

“I could explain the whole game to you right now.”

Beth smiled, overwhelmed but curious.

“Please don’t spoil it.”

Chris looked horrified. “Never. That would be blasphemy.”

Beth laughed softly.

Chris pointed at the screen.

“Okay, so you’re in Brookhaven Hospital. Fun fact: the monsters here represent James’s fear of his own guilt and the trauma surrounding—”

“Chris!”

“Sorry! Sorry! Right. Right. No lore dumps. Sorry.”

Beth giggled.

“No, it’s cute.”

Chris blinked. “…What?”

“Don't worry about it.”

She looked back at the screen, cheeks slightly pink.

Chris shook it off, leaning forward.

“Okay, but seriously. Go right, there’s a health drink hidden behind that thing. Trust me.”

Beth followed his advice.

“No way.”

Chris looked smug.

“I may or may not have memorized the map.”

Beth grinned.

“Of course you have.”

Minutes pass, and they sat closer to eachother now, totally absorbed. Chris muttered commentary under his breath.

“Wait! Turn the light off here! The nurses don’t react as fast if you—”

“Chris. How do you know this much?”

“Beth. I’m a professional.”

“Professional...?”

“Professional nerd.”

Beth laughed, harder this time.

“You’re such a geek.”

Chris grinned proudly.
