I don't understand the appeal of Death Stranding games.

The story is convoluted, but in a way that feels like it has an ulterior motive. Not to mention how the whole baby thing viscerally disgusts me, and the heavy-handed message about the value of human life (over other life) that feels political in nature, like it's meant to appeal to a certain audience.

Too many modern games are just sensory porn meant to create shock and awe with both their visuals and narrative. Captivating players sense of escapism, reeling them in with shallow characters and game lore. So many of which could have been done with less than a gig of data, but instead, we need terabytes. We're so sold on this idea that uncanny hyper-realistic visuals, longer gameplay, and stronger processing power is necessary to improve the experience as a whole. And in no way does it have anything to do with tech companies wanting to sell you newer and better hardware.

Who am I kidding, I don't even play video games.

Also my ex forced me to play Death Stranding when we were together. I fucked around in the first few levels collecting items instead of progressing the game just to piss him off. I just don't enjoy linear plotlines in seemingly open worlds with meandering objectives. It's why MMO/RPGs bore me. Just let me mindlessly parkour off of rocks while collecting bugs and taunting other players. Stop making me do fetch quests you lazy asshole. Let me fetch my own resources and build my own shit. (dirty sandbox game enjoyer)
