Chapter 1,2,3
Tumblr media
Chapter 1:
In the first chapter it discusses the principles  of light in photography, size of light, type of reflections, family of angles. It goes into brief discussion of practicing the examples that are in the book to practice using light in photography. They chapter talks about what type of camera is best. Inexperienced and experienced photographers are going to use different cameras. Inexperienced photographers use what they are familiar with and experienced are going to use what they like. The authors think that a photographer should learn how to use at least one of the photo editing software tools.

Chapter 2:
This Chapter is all about light. It talks about different terms for light that photographers have. The different types of light and what will happen to objects in your photo using those types of light, hard light or soft light. It also talks about the different terms for the effects that light causes in our photos, such as brightness, contrasts, and highlights to name a few. This chapter also talks about color, and what happens with certain colors and light. I learned about the different types of shadows and what type of light causes those shadows.

Chapter 3:
This chapter talks about different types of reflections and what types of light causes those reflections. It also discusses the family of angles that are the parts of direct reflections. Direct reflections can be polarized. Direct reflections and polarized direct reflections are often treated as the same. But photographer can use specialized techniques when dealing with polarized direct reflections.

Bridge vs. Lightroom
Tumblr media
There are many similarities between bridge and Lightroom from adobe. The are both photo sorting systems, where you can change metadata. With lLightroom though it takes a step further by having a nondestructive photo editing software right in house, where with Bridge it will take you to photoshop to do your editing. Both are nondestructive photo editing softwares. Both also will give you tons of metadata pertaining to the file info of your photo. An example is the settings that your camera was at when taking the photo. There is also data that you can input for each of your collections.
Both systems can help you to sort your photos into collections, to choose what ones you want to use for your project. They can both also help you edit your photos. So it mainly just comes down to which photo editing software to I like to edit my photos with. My personal preference is to you Lightroom. I find that it is an easier tool to use to edit your photos, also your photo automatically save and update on which ever hardware you are saving them on.

There are two types of balance , formal and informal. One way to balance and image is two have two objects of equal height visually.  Formal balance is symmetrical balance, where one or more objects are repeated symmetrical on each side of a given point. Informal balance can be achieved in many ways. One way is two have two subjects who are different than one another balance each other out.

Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shutter Speed:     http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/basics/04/03.htm
The shutter speed is how long the shutter is open for. The faster the shutter the more you are to capture something without a blur the shorter the shutter the more the image will blur from movement.
Aperture:      https://photographylife.com/what-is-aperture-in-photography
The hole in the camera that lets the light in. The bigger the hole the smaller the depth of field, the background is blurry . The smaller the hole the larger the depth of field.
ISO:      https://photographylife.com/what-is-iso-in-photography
ISO is the sensitivity to available light in a photo. The higher the ISO the more sensitive to light the photo will be, with a higher ISO the less time is needed to the photo, so a shorter shutter speed is needed. So that means a lower ISO will need a longer shutter speed.
Depth of Field:       https://digital-photography-school.com/understanding-depth-field-beginners/
The depth of field can vary from photo to photo. The depth of field in a photo is the area of sharpness that is in focus. The depth of field is determined by the aperture. A small aperture number a smaller depth of field, and a large aperture number is a large depth of field.
Dynamic Range:      https://digital-photography-school.com/understanding-dynamic-range-photography/
The dynamic  range is the amount of light areas in an image to the amount of dark areas in a photo. Finding a balance of light and dark areas for a photo is good but not necessary. It is important to take in your surrounding to know the light and dark areas that may occur in your photo.
