About the universe: Everyone in the Haikyuu universe attends the same university however they aren’t on the same volleyball team as that is still split up into clubs across the city. The members of each club will remain the same as in the show. This will be a several s/o optional kind of story.

Chapter 18: I am Broken and I don’t Blame you.

“That is so fucked up!”

“No wonder you been off your game”

“Wow thanks”

“But you are just ignoring your issues,”

“I have no idea how to address the issue!”

“Well you need to”

“How do you tell someone who has been by your side your whole life that they betrayed you!”

“Hey dude, you remember when we had sex, yeah cool, why’d you lie?”

“NO!”

You watch them chuckle among themselves not taking this serious, which annoyed you. You realize it to lighten your mood when you look in Akari’s eyes and they are full of concern.

“You honestly have to ask yourself, do I still want him in my life?”

“Of course I do!”

It shocking to you how quickly you respond. You didn’t even know the answer before this moment. Because of course you still want the twins in your life. You love them both. Sakusa raises his stupid mocking eyebrow at you as he watches you come to the conclusion.

“Then let them be in your life,”

“How can you act like it’s that simple!”

“Because it is that simple! You forgave the other one with one conversation why not Atsumu,”

“Osamu didn’t take advantage of me”

“Atsumu is in love with you, not like a friend either. He loves you so much it fucking hurts him.”

Your whole being just stutters to a halt. You know. You have known for a long time. You are stupid and Atsumu isn’t subtle. You take a shaky because now you finally have to address it.

“I know”

You whisper and Sakusa eyes narrow at you as he frowns.

“And you ignored it”

“Omi-nii stop!”

“No, you hurt him too. You all hurt each other. And that’s fucking normal! Did you honestly think that no one would get hurt? That’s naive. I do not condone what Atsumu did not in the slightest, what he did is awful and I believe you should hate him, but you don’t. So either cut him out of your life or just forgive you don’t have other choices,”

You stare at your hands processing it all. The mess of the love triangle you guys got yourselves in was never going to end with out heart break. He’s right it was naive to believe it wouldn’t. You sigh.

“How do I act with him? I… we can’t go back to normal,”

“One you fucking talk to the guy, and two feel whatever you have to feel and let him know! God hit him scream at him whatever just let him know what you are feeling,”

“You guys got me?”

“You ain’t getting rid of us”

“I’d fight Atsumu for ya, hun”

“Why is everyone offering to kick his ass?”

“You are telling me you have never wanted to punch him in his stupid face,”

“Well of course I have but my god he isn’t that bad,”

“I have had one conversation with the guy and want to fight him,”

You spend that night at the Komori’s as you all spend time together being dorks and having fun. Just as you go to bed you decide to take Sakusa’s advice.

You trusted Kita to coordinate everything as their last day rolls around. He is even kind enough to usher everyone on the bus.

"So?"

"So um,"

"Get on with it,"

"God you are such a dick!"

He scoffs and throws you an irritated look and you have never wanted to punch him more in your life.

"Whatever you got to say just say it,"

"So we had sex, and you lied to me and um I found out and now we are here,"

You watch as his face rapidly falls and becomes a look of terror. He reaches for you and you want to slap his hand away, but you don't. You see nothing but self-loathing in his eyes as he seems like a child grasping for anything of comfort.

"I am sorry,"

"I know you are, and i need you to know I am broken and I don't blame you."

"You should"

Tears pour down his face as he holds on to your sleeve.

"I took advantage of you! I lied to you! I called you horrible names because you never picked me! All because I lo.. I love"

"I know,"

His head shoots up to you in panic. What do you mean by that?

"Tsum-Tsum I have known a long time,"

"But you didn't say or do anything?"

"You aren't the only selfish person. I ignored it pretend it wasn't a thing because who knows how if we would still be friends if I didn't,"

"Are we still friends?"

"Of course we are, you and me against the world remember? Keeper of all each others secret."

"Why aren't you screaming, yelling, at least hit me,"

"I don't know, should I?"

You hit him in the middle of the chest. He lets out a groan and rubs the area. You just keep hitting him after that until he grabs both your arms and pins them to your sides.

"That's enough of that"

"You're the one who wanted me to hit you!"

"Yeah but that kinda hurt!"

"GOOD!"

You hear Osamu yell from the bus and you can't resist the urge to laugh and Atsumu pouts and it feels normal until he has to leave. He debates on whether or not to give you a hug, but decides against and gives you a wave instead. You watch him leave frowning wondering if everything will work out for you guys. You stare at where he once was and start to get lost in your head for a little bit before Komori claps you on the shoulder pulling you out of your thoughts.

"Want to get a treat?"

Chapter 17: Oops, Forgot

You let Akari know as soon as she sticks her new landing without stumbling for balance your going over to Itachiyama. Her eyes get comically wide as she realizes why and shyly scratches the back of her neck.

“Oops, forgot”

You just give her an amused smile and nodded for her to get read to do her vault again. She nails it with very little issues which you applaud. She’s improved so much in so little time. You wish your progress would go as smoothly as hers, but you barely dwell on that as you grab your things and wait for her to get changed. Heading to the school you talk aimlessly about things. You would probably say after the twins Akari is your closest friend and you are happy with that conclusion. Before your world was gymnastics and the twins not much else. Never will you say what the twins did to you is acceptable but because of it you have broadened your horizon and gained two friends, Akari and Komori, maybe Sakusa even though he’s a very grumpy and reluctant friend. You laugh at the thought of him having to spend time at his school for the training camp. Akari zones in on that and questions ya.

“What you laughing about”

“The thought of your cousin, at this training camp trying to avoid all the germs,”

“That’s mean Y/N-Chan”

“Well Sakusa-San is mean”

“Being mean to mean still makes you mean”

“It’s not malicious”

“If it’s not malicious then what is it”

“Banter”

“So like flirting”

“Yeah kinda I guess”

“So you flirt with Omi-nii!”

Your head snaps to Akari so quickly you almost give yourself whiplash. Your face heats up and you stutter. You don’t think you like Sakusa and with everything with the twins and Suna. My god you can’t deal with this. Yes you found Sakusa unbelievably attractive but did you like him?

“I am kidding”

That gave you very little relief. Thankfully you don’t have to dwell on it as you turn around the corner into the school. Akari seems a little distracted by something but you pay it no mind as you both head in.

“You and that Miya twin figured your stuff out right”

“Mostly, why”

She laughs nervously as you both are now in the gym with volleyballs games going on three courts.

“Well I think I saw-

“Y/N!”

It is jarring to hear his voice and watch as he stands on a court staring at you. You barely have time to freeze up as Akari pulls you to the other side of the gym to Itachiyama. Her falls into a frown as she ends up in front of Komori who is on the bench due to them already finishing their game.

"Your kneepads"

He raises an eyebrow at her, but understanding crosses his face when it lands on you. His eyes meet yours questioning if you are okay and you can only reply with a weak nod. Sakusa walks up behind Komori with water bottle in hand.

"See you at home?"

He isn't asking if he will see you late, he is asking if you all are going to finally talk about whatever is going on with you. You give him a nod and Akari is pulling you again. God must be out to get you today because just as you are outside the gym you feel a rather harsh yank on your other arm.

"So you're not gonna say hi"

"Tsum I am busy"

"So busy you can't say hi"

"Yes we are so if you don't mind"

"I don't know who the fuck you think you are, but I was talking to Y/N"

"Tsum I have go"

"Atsumu! What the hell is wrong with you?! Kita is pissed you left in the middle of a set."

"Yeah man! Coach is seriously thinking about bench your ass"

"Let him!"

"My apologies, but anyone who isn't a student here or a guest for the training camp needs to leave"

"She's fine we are talking"

"She's obviously a distraction"

"All of you stay out of it! This is between me and her"

"Atsumu, I really have to go but I will talk to you later, okay?"

"No, not okay! What is going on with you,"

Your only saving grace is the coaches finally got involved and ushered all players back inside as you and Akari make a hasty exit.

"You okay?"

"Yeah just wasn't expecting to see him"

"So let me get this straight you have issues with both the Miya twins"

Even though you felt like throwing up, you couldn't help but laugh. Akari gives you a look like your a mad woman.

"Sorry, but 'issues' don't even begin to cover what I have with the Miya twins"

"That's reassuring"

"I grew up with them. You know the deal neighbor kids that are impossibly and we only got closer when my parents died. And until recently we were content with whatever the fuck we are."

"Like you did something or they did something,"

"Bit of both"

"Do you want to wait for Omi-nii and Ko-nii"

"Yeah there coming over tonight even with the training camp?"

"Ko-nii bribed the coach."

A/N: Akari, Komori and Sakusa have been taking turns taking reader-Chan out because they noticed how stressed reader-Chan is and now she doesn’t have her one outlet. It was Sakusa’s turn. I gonna be honest I am really thinking about making Sakusa another choice cause I love this man but that seems like a lot so he’s probably gonna be a supportive guy friend.

Chapter 14: WHAT WAS I SUPPOSE TO DO?!

You didn't believe Osamu when he said he was coming to see you and Suna had been a little more distant since you told him you still loved Osamu. You barely had any control over your life anymore except for training which you were doing way too often resulting in some strain in many of your joints. When you weren't panicking about your two best friends you were stress about training. Everyone could tell your life was in disarray. Thank God you weren't dealing with new reporters or paparazzi right now or you think you might have a full blown break down. Today was better then most though it was family dinner night which you have grown to adore. Too bad for you good days never stay good anymore. When you exited the gym there was a head of silver hair that you prayed you were just imagining him. You try to find Akari quickly to leave as swiftly as possible, but luck was never on your side these days.

"Y/N!"

You grimace turning to face one of the two people you never wanted to see again, but also wanted to see most. Frozen, you give him to catch up to you. Once he is to you his frown deepens to a scowl as he glances at you.

"You look like shit,"

You can't help the scoff at the so elegant description of her predicament, which she was very well aware of. You see Akari look at you in concern you give her the signal, you two came up with, to let her know you're okay and she should just wait a little bit.

"Well I have been training a lot lately,"

"You look like you haven't slept in days"

"I haven't been,"

"Then why aren't you talking to me or Atsumu,"

Your mind is buzzing again overwhelmed with emotions some you can't even grasp as to why. Everything screaming at you to just break down. To stop. Vision starts to blur and Osamu voice is muffled.

"Jesus, do you know how worried we have been,"

That snaps you back to the moment and anger pushes past the agony, confusion and everything else.

"OH, so now your worried?"

"What's that's suppose to mean!"

"You weren't worried when you were lying to me!"

He at least has the decency to look horrified. But anger is all you have that is keeping you from breaking down, so you latch on to it.

"Yeah I know! WHAT WAS I SUPPOSE TO DO?!"

"Y/N"

"Shut up! You lied to me! You and Atsumu! You guys are like the only family I had! And you lied to me! I loved you and you lied!"

You know your making a scene, but you don't care. Unbeknownst to you, your coach and teammates direct all outside attention away from you making sure this scene doesn't get out and cause you any bigger problems. You definitely don't need anymore problems. You watch as he looks broken in front of you. You never thought you would break each other. Shatter each others hearts. But here you are screaming at him, heart broken and betrayed about a love that never was. You can tell he's feeling it as well from the glossy look in his eyes, but there is deeper level of understanding then you have ever known. Not being able to stop yourself you begin to sob. You reach out to him for comfort and he gladly gives you some holding you as you both mourn the loss of what you once had knowing it will never be the same. Finally you start to calm down and detach from him.

"I don't know what this means for us. But you and Atsumu are so important to me I don't think I can bear losing either one of you,"

He nods slowly as if he's scared to startle you.

"Is there anything you need from me,"

"Please, just go home, and don't let Atsumu know I can do this again right now."

He looks like he wants to protest, but stops himself and gives you a quick nod. Just before he leaves you grab his hand and pull him into a tight hug.

"I love you. I love you so much,"

Tears actually pour down his face this time as he nods not returning the words feeling he doesn't deserve to as he waves a goodbye. Once he is no longer in sight Akari walks up to you .

"What was that about?"

"When your close to a person there's a point where it is just a matter of time before you hurt each other,"

Chapter 11: Can we keep her

AN: Hey so a lot of this volume will be written too. I am hoping to update every Friday and Sunday, but Sunday is for sure maybe not Friday though.

I am also so so sorry for not updating for a while I got super sick and was in and out of the hospital for a while.

You hadn’t been feeling like yourself ever since you got back to Tokyo a few days ago. Being by yourself in you apartment didn’t help. The gym was still closed when you got back and there was only so much running you could do in a day to distract yourself. What you were doing isn’t healthy but you don’t care. It’s better then crying in a room all alone. Every once in a while you call Suna to talk and calm down. He did in fact FaceTime you everytime he watched Toliet-Bound Hanako and sometimes you would see his sister that was two years younger then you because she was a huge fan of some of the programs you support. It was always weird for you when people talked about you as if your this strong indestructible woman especially right now. Sighing as you walk up to your apartment lost in though your phone rings.

Tsum-Tsum 🥺

You ignore it. But quickly shoot him a text that you’re studying for your exams. According to some law athletes under the age of 17 have to still take school exams and pass with a B. You home schooled yourself mostly sometimes your adoptive unit would help when the subject was particularly difficult. Sometimes, a lot of the time, you just FaceTimed Osamu to help you cause he did the same stuff last year. He would probably be calling you here soon too. The twins knew something was up you were hardly responding to them and kept giving excuses as to why you couldn’t talk whenever they called. You felt a little bad for ignoring them, but you didn’t want to deal with your emotions yet. Because if you don’t confront it you guys are still the best of friends, right? You knew it was because you were a coward and couldn’t handle whatever they would say to defend their actions. Honestly you just wanted to pretend you don’t even know. Just go back to shooting Atsumu texts about the dumbest things you see or sending Osamu recipes you find. You miss saying good night to them over the phone. Even being so far from them physically they had been part of your everyday life even when you were in Tokyo. Not wanting to dwell on it anymore you finish up some homework and take melatonin and start your night routine. You go to bed declining Atsumu’s phone call ones again hoping that with the gym opening tomorrow life will get easier.

“L/N-San you are going to train with Komori-San for a awhile, I think she can rank in Nationals this year if she is pushed right,” your coach called pushing the brunette towards you. You give him a firm nod and glance at Komori-San whom you have never been introduced to even though you both had been at this gym for the last 4 years.

“Call me Y/N I hate formalities,”

“Then call me Akari!”

If you remembered right she was around your age and had decent enough routines, but her lack consistency made her seem mediocre. She only seemed slightly nervous over the fact you two were training together. Many people would question why the world’s best was training with someone who has yet to be nationally rank, simple most nationally ranked girls were in Kyoto. You nod and get started. Through out the day you begin to relax and enjoy Akari’s company and explaining how to do certain flips or transitions helped you better understand it. Akari didn’t seem to have much fear she just lacks focus. You realized you liked her a lot and believed honestly maybe if she worked hard enough she might rank high enough to be invited to international events.

Days turn into weeks and you continue dodging the teams explaining your just too busy working with Akari, but you were only training with Akari with about six hours a day you spent another three with individual training. Anyone could see you have been over working yourself for weeks. Akari and you had grown much closer since then and she has improved astronomical since then even exceeding the coaches expectation. She was so sweet and treated you like a normal girl which you loved. When she did manage to drag you away from the gym you two were spending time together shopping are doing homework at your apartment. It helped a little with the growing dread in you every time you saw a missed call from one of the twins.

“Komori-San come here for a moment” your coaches yelled. Akari nodded at you and smiled before running over to the coach you start stretching yourself to cool down from a day of training. It doesn’t take long for Akari to come racing back over and lunging at you.

“Y/N-Chan coach says I am on for the meet with Kyoto!!”

She is so excited she is bouncing. You can’t help but be excited too. After helping her, you have grown quite attached to the girl. With a broad smile she giggles

“Y/N-Chan you have to come to family dinner! I get this chance because of you!!”

“No Akachan it’s cause of your hard work”

“Pretty please Y/N-Chan come over and eat with us!”

“Fine but we should probably shower first,”

“Omg yes! My cousin is a germaphobe so we should be so gross”

You girls did just that as soon as practice ended. It was the first time you left with Akari instead of work yourself to the bone again. Akari and you walk out with your arms linked and she leads to two boys in track suits. One had the same chestnut brown hair and oval eyebrows Akari did so you assumed that was her brother. The other was a boy with wavy hair and dark eyes wearing a mask. He had to beauty marks above his right eyebrow.

“Guess who is going to part of the Kyoto meet with most of the National girls!”

“Gold medalist Y/N L/N”

“No, Moyota-nii it’s me!”

“Would have never guessed”

“Mean!”

“Well I mean he’s still right, last I checked Akachan I am going”

“You’re Y/N L/N?”

“The one and only,”

“Your performance two years ago was simply breathtaking,”

“Oh thank you!

“Omg Nii-San are you seeing this! Omi-nii is being nice to someone else!”

“Who are you and what have done with our cousin?”

“I am merely stating fact,”

“Can we keep her? Like you are actually being nice,”

“She’s not a pet”

“But she’s cute like one”

“…”

“I don’t know how I feel about being compared to a pet.”

“Shh we have adopted you”

As you hang out with them your phone goes off and you don’t have the heart to check and see if it is one of the twins. Akari smiles back at you as her and grabs your hand to pull you along with them.

Hiatus

I have gotten severely sick and am spending most of my time in and out of the hospital and can’t find the motivation to write with the struggle that is my recovery plan. Chapter 9: Wtf is going on

And just as you guys had planned Suna arrived to your apartment with the little snacks you had mentioned in passing you liked. Your heart beat a little faster knowing he remember even though you two had know each other for a little less then a month. Not being able stop yourself you throw your arms over his broad shoulders hugging him tightly.

“Aw missed me that much.”

“You were right. We should’ve hung out early this week.”

Your left foot goes to rub the back of your right calf as you let him go. You have been ridden with anxiety since you got his text about the twins lying. It kinda is freaking you out. Maybe he will let you change your mind and you two can have movie night with the snacks. No, No! You were going through with this.

“Okay so what’s going on?”

“You might want to sit down.”

“No thank you. I am so nervous I think I am going to throw up.”

“Reasonable. Um... so ah”

“Hey I am going to be fine.”

“I don’t know if you are.”

“With all due respect you don’t know that well.”

“I know, but it’s not good.”

“Suna, I need support and honesty.”

“Well honestly it’s not good but you definitely are.”

“Okay so I don’t really know where to start”

Her head snaps so fast to him he’s shocked she doesn’t have whiplash. The horror one her face makes Suna nauseous now. She swallows as her face is still pale.

“What does that have to do with this!”

“Shit. Should I have started with the fact that they both actually love you like romantically.”

Watching her reacting told him he might have been better leaving that out and for the twins to tell you when you eventually confront. At least he hoped you were going to. Yeah they fucked up, but like you said earlier they were all you basically had. Which after he talked to you more he found was really true. They were your biggest support through the good and the bad. He knew this would effect you guys relationship no matter what he just hoped there was still a relationship.

“Ah... Atsumu and Osamu have both loved you for years. They didn’t want the relationship to change so neither of them made a move.”

“Wait that means,”

Your voice cracks as it dawned on you Tsum had known this and lied to you. Tsum lied to you and then fucked you. You couldn’t feel anything.

“Do you need me to stop for now?”

You give a short nod biting your pointer finger to hold the scream of anguish. Tsum was your rock. A foundation that was unmoving in your life. That foundation has shifted under your feet and thrown you on your back knocking any air out of you. You can’t find your footing it like that one time you hit the vault square in the center of your back. You’re gasping for air that your lungs can’t find.

“Can I approach you,”

You barely hear Suna over the buzzing in your head but you find your head bobbing up and down. He sits you down on your couch leans you into him and just holds you.

“I got you. Anytime it becomes too much just say the word and I will let ya go.”

“No... just.. need to breath”

“Yeah okay beautiful. Whatever you need”

You both sit there awhile as he starts to play with you hair gently. You hum as you close your eyes and focus on keep your breath even. Not knowing how much time has pasted you sit up straight and look Suna in the eyes.

“I think I am good. Please continue”

“You sure?”

“Yes”

“So he lied to you. He says he never meant for it to escalate but he’s weak and selfish he’s not gonna deny that. But yes he lied to you about Osamu”

“Okay but how is Osamu lying to me? You said the twins not Atsumu.”

“Atsumu finally told Osamu all this last week. After he calmed down enough to talk to Atsumu he said you couldn’t know. And they agreed not act like it never happened and move on. Put their feelings aside forever and just be there for.”

“That’s a lot to take in”

You feel like you are in water. Just floating there without sound or sight or much of anything. Both of them have betrayed you knowingly. You didn’t think that one of them would do this, but now you have to deal with both of them. You take another breath for yourself. You don’t know what your going to do. You need time to process this.

“Take it in your own time”

“But they are gonna worry if I just don’t talk to them”

“Think about you right now. What’s going to help you”

“Okay can we stay like this then”

“Yeah sure”

His long arm wrap around trapping you in the warmth when you feel so cold. You don’t know how to feel. You’re hurt and confused. And want to talk them immediately but also never want to see them again. You want to hug them and tell them your all good but also tell them you’ll never be the same. So you just stay there in their best friend’s arms.

Your brain stutters at that. They love you and your find comfort in their best friend from wounds they have caused. How fucked up is that. What if he’s here because now he knows your ‘easy’, but Suna hadn’t been giving you any of those vibes. You just couldn’t get rid of the grating feeling of being with their friend instead of them. Maybe he told you to bring you into his arms. You don’t know anymore. The two people you trusted most you no longer trust and your seeking solace from someone who is kinda a stranger.

“Hey, hey your okay,”

“You’re they friend”

“Yes”

“But you told me something they definitely did want you to”

“I told you already I couldn’t help but think of my sister.”

“So your not here for the hanky lanky”

“Hanky panky?! Hahaha no I am not! Not to say your not attractive I have expressed many times how attractive I find you. It’s just it’s not appropriate not with the information you just got. And we haven’t even talked about dating”

“Oh”

“Hey I know your mind is probably a mess right now. Don’t worry about talking or asking me anything.”

“I don’t want to start dating not with this. I got to figure this all out.”

“I figured as much. But if you want to play a game and chat just let me know.”

“I didn’t want to start a relationship before this like not a solid one I guess”

“Oh...”

“No not like it’s you. Um like you’re great and I think I like you but I am was?? I am?? Getting over Osamu and I leave in two days to go back to Tokyo to resume my professional training. First relationship and long distance doesn’t seem like it would work”

“That makes sense”

“Sorry”

“No need for you apologize. Sucks because your a great girl but if that’s how you feel I can’t change that”

“Your surprisingly very understanding”

“My family is a firm believer in therapy and mental care. Especially I had my first depression dip”

“You don’t have to answer me, but do you think you’ll ever forgive them.”

AN: I am a strong believer that Suna is deeply depressed but gets it worked on. I also believe that Atsumu is a huge overthinker with severe anxiety. If I haven’t stated it Reader-Chan is a years younger the Suna and the twins.
