i need to hear why the book characters weren’t used!! Show Us The Forbidden Tinker Bell Knowledge
Tumblr media
The theory: Disney created the books to debut franchise as a whole and as companion pieces to the movie
My evidence:
A Silvermist storyboard by Mark Cote with the year 2004 on it even though her book came out in 2007 which is 2 years after Quest for the Egg’s initial release

This quote from Gail, emphasizing the fact that Disney had been “kicking around the idea of series for their video department” (given they were storyboards in summer 2004 of these characters, the offer to write a series on Tinker Bell books was likely proposed to her earlier than that, that or the movie was secret/under a contract? lol )
Disney's 2004 Annual Report says that: "We expect that this will be more than an enchanting book." (hinting at more products in the line, more books... or possible movies that they could have been already started thinking about huh?)

Some more early art:

And fact that the artist said he was working on Fairies in 2002 (though we don't know if thats true lol)
Tumblr media
The artist that was working on the books (David Christiana) and designed many characters like Rani, Prilla, book Tink, Vidia, etc would have to sign off on the use of his artwork for the upcoming movie.
And I suppose he did, but his art was never intended to be used in a scene.
And then there's the fact that we have early prototype art of Iridessa, Rosetta, Fawn, SIlvermist... but not of Rani, Prilla, Beck, Vidia (well not until rewrites), Fira, Bess, Lily
And then there's the fact that the books are cited as "inspiration" when they reworked the story
Then it starts to click
TLDR/Conclusion: Disney Fairies was never supposed to have the cast of the book characters, they came from the imagination of the authors and the books were being worked on separately to promote the movie. In fact, Tinker Bell's friend group was so big so it was more to promote the world of Disney Fairies before the movie came out, as the moviemakers were having story problems with writing the world of fairies. It would familiarize readers with fairies/talents, etc. (especially considering tinker bell had art-talent, animal talent, water talent, garden-talent, light-talent, and clapping talent friends. This is a lot.) Disney would borrow from the books a lot (lore like wet wings, characters etc) and suggest small edits to promote the movie, like how the purple pixie dust tree appears in the books or the fact that there's a section on the Ring of Belief (the deleted story concept) or maybe there's the example sudden change from the Fairy Haven series to the "Tales of Pixie Hollow" books. Disney wanted to start a new franchise, but not a new book franchise.

has any cryptid ever been bullied harder than goatman. shane and ryan stole his bridge, ruined his reputation, and he didn't even get a shout out on their top 5 beatdown ep devoted to cryptids. lmao

the transition in the past two decades from family sitcoms and ‘friends all living together’ sitcoms to workplace comedies signifies a larger shift in how work dominates our lives and leaves no space for traditional family or community raising in this essay i will
