Since I got flu I have missed my work so much, after more than a week off. I made my boyfriend and mom very worried and that made myself seem so helpless. I regret my short temper that cauaed me pissed off when I couldn't deal with my responsibility as I had planned. My right hand hasn't worked well enough to grip, stretch nor move the wrist around. This makes it difficult to cook, write letters, laundry, and even change clothes and use restroom. I cannot even play handball.
That nerve injury takes weeks to months to recover, according to the doctor. Just very envious to those who are healthy.

Itaewon
Foreign district was apparently originally developed for people in the base, but it turned out to attract many people who are looking for different experiences, myself included.
It is such a busy area, but various different ships and bars appear one after another even in any narrow street.

Korean Mexican fusion is a very interesting idea, combining culture of opposite sides of the glove, just like the combination of Japanese Chilean elements. The pub does serve Colona beer cocktail with the bottle stick into the big glass, upside down to show it more dynamic. Taco was amazingly tasty with some meat, vegetables and avocado sauce. It even seemed to be more like Mexican, but might be more like Korean for those who are in Central America.

Back in Konkuk University
We should take advantage of the fact that we can be full with cheap and good quality of street food. We finished the day with Tteokbokki, small pieces of rice cake seasoned with gochujang, a spicy paste, rather more mild. Said goodbye to wonderful Korean and American hosts in Kunkuk, and I am very thankful to my gorgeous partner. I got totally happy and am ready for the next adventure.

Konkuk University
It was lucky we stayed at a college town to see various tastes from something authentic to fusions. Walking down the street we got in to a Korean restaurant to have a set of brunch with grilled spicy pork, vegetable soup, some eggs with thick sausage and red bean rice. It turned out Banchan, an appetizer, can be served some more if we like, and all of those spiciness increased our appetite for something light, such as rice, and makes people so full with savor.

Gangnam
It seems no other town I have seen could be this bigger in scale of popularity and gastronomy. Squeezed into one of the population to look for something fascinating, let alone fashion and cosmetics. Whichever street we took there are always food stands attracting us. How could it happen- countries next to each other have such difference in food culture, I have never seen these sorts of dish without any way to describe in my mother tongue. Among other tempura, fried fish and vegetable, we saw long and dark stuffed intestines. While the mum is working so roughly on handling cash and looking after boiling and steams coming out from the metal pots, I got a bite and found it is not sausage. Sundae, soft noodles and other ingredients are stuffed and boiled in intestines of cows or pork, is one of the street foods going very well with Makgeoli, the mild taste of which mitigates the intensity and increases the volume of flavor.

Some people would feel it so gross, but other people would be excited to see this chopped octopus moving on the plate- it even looks like worms. It’s amazing we have the seafood literally fresh while it is alive. Totally enjoyed this guilty pleasure with slimy but crunchy texture with some varieties of sauce, like sesame oil and chili sauce, moving around inside of my mouth.

Seoul -1
Second time to travel to Seoul, after four years of moving to different parts of the world.
It was totally amazing and inspiring memory in my life. It started from celebrating my birthday on St. Patrick’s day at the airport with green color of matcha beer, and a plate of prosciutto with Brussel sprout marinated with olive oil.

Kwangjang Market
After a few hours of flight, we finally arrived at Seoul to find ourselves looking for some gastronomy. Almost at the end of Cheonggyecheon, modern/traditional tastes of riverside in town, we reached into narrow and dark path, almost like a crack between old buildings, to smell something good. In the middle of darkness and silence, there was a small food stand selling Oden. Picking out a stick of it, I saw people casually add some liquid spice with some chili, and eat the soft texture absorbed the broth so well. Slurping the broth in a paper cup, continued walking down the shopping street.

A several minutes of walk led me into a busy and bright street with lots of wholesale shops and food stands aggregated. Somebody called us to get some hot pot in their bar, and looked everything so fresh and delicious, and we picked at this random place. Yukhoe was so scrumptious, breaking the round raw egg melting on the meat, entangling well with the sesame oil.

As we continued walking on the street, I found it so huge with many paths spreads in many different directions. It was very hard to get into one out of apparently thousands, unless we roughly specify what we liked to eat. We found some space to seat at a food stand, and ordered some fresh raw fish with some liquor, soju and Makgeolli. The fish meat varied such a lot, from something tender to crunchy shellfish. Happened to have fun conversation with several men working for different industries, with many times of chokes each time they ask about our origin and impression about Seoul. It was so far, fantastic!
