“You better go get them then.”

“I just naturally assumed that this was just your personality now. Seeing you have absolutely no reason to be mad at me specifically, as I’ve literally done nothing wrong.” Sophie sighed frustratedly. “You know, not every conversations has to be about my parents and for your information, I’ve been in London, by myself. But why would you know that? You don’t care, right?”
Emma had been frowning listening to her sister's words, it was a little shocking to hear, especially seeing as she hadn’t heard from her sooner. “I mean, you know between getting stabbed and having my boyfriend fuck me over, not to mention my sister and my father showing up, I think I deserve to be slightly grumpy don’t you?” She questioned, letting out a sigh. “How long have you been in London?”

“Somewhere less public, with no kids, even if yours isn’t here,” he sighed not wanting to be a downer but he was certain the reason behind her sudden thirst for alcohol was still Jet. “I mean do whatever you want, I’ll call Sab to hold your hair while you throw up because I am not doing that.”
“Are you worried I’m gonna go skinny dipping or something?” The brunette wrinkled her nose while she spoke. “No, don’t tell Sabrina, she’ll only worry. I can tie my hair back now to avoid that mistake, but the real question is are you going to drink with me?”

“Oh, well—” she shrugged her shoulders. “There’s always next time, flirting with a barman to get a free drink isn’t limited to just at this pier.”
“Are you hinting for a girls night, Cherry?” She questioned with a grin. “Cause I think that’s definitely in need.”

“Apparently not hot enough to get gin. See, this is why I like you. You’re the realest friend I’ve got. We could always just stuff cheap prizes in your bra to give you a lift. That could work, right?”
“I mean, are you gonna be paying for and playing these games you’re getting the cheap prizes from?”

‘ I don’t know, we could go to the face painting station, I make a killer half butterfly. It’s seriously the cutest thing. ’
“You know what, let’s do it.”

“And how does one, ‘make the fun happen’?”

“I don’t see why they wouldn’t. I didn’t know they were going to have a stand like that, maybe I should help you find it because it sounds like the best idea right about now.”
“Hopefully they’ll give us the bottle, if they don’t we should just make out and see if that works.”

“It’s a good thing I don’t have feelings, otherwise they’d be extremely hurt right about now,” he teased with a grin. “Getting fucked up at the summer bash is probably not the best idea, shortcake.”
“Ugh,” Emma let out a groan as she looked towards the male. “Why not? When else am I gonna get fucked up? T’s with a sitter, for once I don’t have work tomorrow morning. I think it’s the perfect time to get fucked up.”

“I’m sure if you asked nicely enough, you could charm your way in,” Cherry suggested. “You catch more flies with honey than a stick.”
“Yeah, I know.” She nodded in agreement. “I should’ve worn a top with more cleavage and contoured my boobs, then I would’ve got unlimited.”

“Jeez, don’t let the happiness kill your mood there, Em” Sophie said sarcastically, more than over whatever dark cloud hung over her sister. “I’m sure you could yell at the man and he’ll give you a gin without the tonic. You seem to be doing that to everyone else these days.”
“I’m sorry,” Emma said, a fake frown pulling at her brows. “How the fuck would you know who I’ve been yelling at, hm? You’ve been in fucking Washington sucking up to Mommy and Daddy this whole time.”

“If you can sweet talk the dude running it, I think you’ll get away with just a gin. Good luck though, I just tried and it didn’t work. I’m not entirely sure why, I guess I’m just not hot enough for him. You shouldn’t have a problem though.”
“I’m gonna say he’s not into guys because you’re hot enough for anyone, Axel. If I get the gin I’ll get two and come straight back to you but, I don’t have much cleavage to work my way into it.”

‘ So which of the objects here didn’t convince you that this isn’t the station for gin and tonic ? ’ She asked, seeing as they were standing at the face painting station, there isn’t any alcohol nearby. ‘ I’ll suggest the other end of the pier. ’
“Oh,” Emma said, holding back laughter as she was already quite tipsy. “Sorry, I just saw someone with a plastic cup come from here, but they must’ve already been holding it. Oops!”

“Look, I’m not actually here to talk to people. I’m just here for the cinnamon donuts and maybe the gin and tonic stand that I heard there was gonna be. Is that a thing? Do you think they’ll just let me have the gin and forget the tonic?”

“No, I’m actually not. What is it that you’re always telling me? Something about some natural fucking charm? I don’t have control over that shit. I was being myself, chatting, being nice and she came at me. Believe it, don’t believe it, whatever.” It was already apparent to Jethro that he was fighting a losing battle, and he honestly just didn’t have the energy for it. He wasn’t stupid, he knew that Emma wasn’t going to believe him no matter what he said, so he just wondered what the point in all of this was. “You’re being fucking ridiculous right now, you know that? I’ve just walked in the fucking door and you’re in my face yelling at me. When was I supposed to have a chance to tell you about it, huh? Excuse me? Like I always do? What the fuck are you talking about, Emma? Jesus fucking Christ. You wanna DNA test me to see if I went back to her place and stuck my dick in her? Because I didn’t. But, you probably don’t believe that either, right?”
Emma was angry and she was frustrated and feeling twenty million emotions at once, most of which she didn’t allow herself to feel most of the time, but when she did, she became unstable. “You’re the one not putting up a fight here, which just means what I fucking suspected in the first place.” She stated bitterly, throwing her hands up in the air. Right now she wouldn’t believe what he said, the trust had been broken. It had taken her long enough to build up trust for him anyway, and now it was quickly gone. “Well, I certainly can’t believe you anymore now can I? You could’ve called and told me Jet, don’t use it as an excuse. Are you fucking bored already? Is this what this is about? Is it me? What the fuck, Jet.”

There were only a handful of people that got to see this side of the detective, his usual playful grin and inappropriate jokes nowhere to be found as he held Emma against his chest. He sighed, placing a small kiss on her forehead as she continued to speak. He was never one to keep quiet, in fact talking too much was probably one of his biggest faults — but when it came to this he wasn’t entirely sure what was the right thing to say. “Ouch, I’m sure the sharks would really love that.” he chuckled. “Talk to him, maybe? I’m sure there’s some reasoning behind this. You guys have been doing each other for a long time, If he wanted to be with other girls he would’ve done it by now right? Why wait until you’re officially together to fuck up? Come on, who wouldn’t love you?”
Emma knew coming to David probably wasn’t the best choice, especially when he was friends with Jet. But, in times like these, it was his arms around her that she needed, he didn’t have to say much to give her comfort. “He has been with other girls this whole time, though.” Emma let out a sigh. “I feel like I’ve forced him into this whole thing but at the same time, I can’t stop because I want him so bad and it’s pathetic. He doesn’t get like this over me, he doesn’t overreact.” The tiny brunette let out a frustrated sigh, shaking her head as she settled into his arms a little. “You don’t let someone else kiss you when you’re in a relationship, right? Fuck. This is so stupid.”
