i think macron’s comments are logical in essence but perhaps he should be more implicit b/c he’s practically inviting people to accuse him of sympathizing with putin. also, it seems like now is definitely not the time to talk about avoiding russia’s humiliation... eventually there will be negotiations, but the war isn’t over. at the present time, with russian soldiers decimating ukraine’s cities and committing unspeakable atrocities, it strikes entirely the wrong tone for him to be jumping to discussing russia’s future. and while russia can’t be shunned permanently, they should face consequences at the negotiation table and be forced to acknowledge and atone for their wrongdoings.
