I strongly desire the classpect of a personal favorite character of mine, by the name of Terry Bogard. You might’ve heard of him, he’s fucking sick.
Happy 4/13!
Today we're looking at Terry Bogard.
This kick-ass beast of a man is from the Fatal Fury series. Terry's story starts with his father, Jeff Bogard, who is a student of Tung Fu Rue, and learned the art of Hakkyokuseiken alongside his fellow disciple Geese Howard. Hakkyokuseiken, being a martial art which essentially powers up other martial arts with Chi. The final Hakkyokuseiken technique is passed down from master to only one student. Tung Fu Rue chose Jeff, a decision that would lead to a jealous Geese murdering him.
Terry also becomes a pupil of Tung Fu Rue and follows the path of revenge, eventually ending Geese's life using very the technique which Geese was denied. Terry's fighting spirit atrophies in the following peace, only for Geese's half-brother Wolfgang Krauser to pop in and kick the everloving shit out of him. Terry eventually gets back on his feet and takes out Krauser. After this, it turns out Geese is alive after all and they have yet another showdown, in which Terry claims victory.
So with that very brief overview out of the way, Terry Bogart is a....

Thief Of Doom
One who steals [Doom]/steals using [Doom]
Doom was a good fit for an aspect though, which I tried to make clear in my very brief summary above. Doom deals with death, endings, and cycles- and it could just be the inherit nature of fighting games at play here, but I think it's a pretty solid fit for our boy Terry. The backstory part with his father being chosen to learn the final technique only to die, closing that cycle by defeating his father's murderer with that very same technique. I think more broadly too, Terry's life is a cycle of epic fighting quest, followed by peace in which he gets comparatively lax, only for his past to catch up to him and restart the cycle anew.
I hope you enjoyed this little classpect and had a wonderful homestuck day!

Hey dude sorry if I’m bothering you but is it okay if you Classpect Yugi Muto from Yu-Gi-Oh?
Tumblr media
You're absolutely not bothering me! I love getting asks! (Actually answering them takes me a while but don't think that doesn't mean I don't see them)
Yugi Muto is such an interesting pick! Characters don't get much closer than Yugi does with Pharoah. Tho Yugi is also the modern day reincarnation of Atem. Going by normal Homestuck rules, they'd be the same classpect, so really I should be looking for something to fit both of them.
Yugi assembled the Millenium Puzzle box, which revives the spirit of Pharoah Atem and he becomes his human host. From here, Yugi gets through many of the challenges he faces, card game related and otherwise, with Atem's help. Pharoah Atem has amnesia as well as looking damn near identical to Yugi, so the line between them is blurred for a lot of the series. At least in the eyes of onlookers. Over the course of the series the mystery is unraveled and Yugi builds up the confidence which was completely absent at the start of the story. The series ends with the gang sealing away the milenium items and putting the spirits to rest. The catch being thag in order to do so, Pharaoh must lose a duel. Many of the characters jump at the chance to prove that they're a better duelist than him. Instead, we end the series with a duel between Yugi Muto and Pharoah Atem. Yugi defeats him and prpves he doesn't need him anymore, allowing the spirit to rest in peace.
So, with that short summary out of the way: Yugi Muto is a...

Heir Of Heart ❤️
One who inherits [Heart]/is protected by [Heart]
I think this is one of the cases where the obvious pick is.... well, probably correct. Two of the biggest things with the character are Heart of the cards and being possessed by an alternate version of yourself to overcome difficulties. It's hard to ignore. I'd go as far as to say Yugi is a fair poster boy for the classpect. In addition to that, he goes through the whole series using his grandfather's deck! Specifically tying his identity to a pack of cards he inherited from his grandfather pretty much seals the deal for me.

Senshi time!
Tumblr media
Senshi is next on our list! (After which I'm going to go back thru my inbox). Thankfully, the anime has already covered a lot of character defining moments for our boy here. Helps to not have to dance around spoilers for once lol. But also make sure you watch the anime before reading this if you care about S1 anime spoilers.
Senshi is the only surviving member of a dwarven expidition. They crossed into the dungeon while exploring some ruins; things went awry for them as they were unprepared and Senshi for the most part hasn't left the dungeon since, making a life for himself down there. He lays a lot of foundation for the day-to-day events found in Dungeon Meshi. His extensive experience living in the dungeon paves the way for our gang to venture forward with minimal supplies. Most of the times when Laios comes up with ideas around eating monsters it's Senshi who does the actual cooking. He is, of course, more than meets the eye and not just the party's chef, but also a capable warrior.
So, Senshi is a....
Tumblr media
Heir Of Blood!
One who inherits [Blood]/is protected by [Blood]
You might think it strange that he share a classpect with Monkey D. Luffy, but I assure you it checks out! I think there's plenty of room for debate on what Class or Aspect Senshi really fits into until you start looking at his backstory. It's so damn clear cut. In a situation where, frankly he had no right surviving, he did. The pack of dwarves push Senshi along and set him up despite everything. 100% this is being protected by his bonds. He also inherits Gillin's philosophy to take care of the younger generation. (Funny considering I JUST answered a reply about responsibility NOT being a sub-Aspect of Blood). I would attribute this more to him inheriting that role and it shaping his future relationships than attributing it to responsibility though. Room for debate here.
There's also the mithril shield he inherits and ends up turning into a wok. I think it's poetic that the dwarven miner's legacy can live on through Senshi, even if not in the same form.
One thing that I want to really focus on with Senshi is just how central he is to the story. If you zoom out slightly, all of the characters are vital to the story; it's one of the reasons that Dungeon Meshi works so well as a series! But Senshi still has a special place amongst them: He is the glue that binds the series together. His vast experience living in the dungeon keeps the party together and allows them to march on. I think the phrase "Breaking bread" really fits well here as Senshi is almost always friendly and just trying to make sure that everyone is healthy and happy.
Tumblr media
Anyways that's it for Senshi! Thanks for reading :^)

Next up is Chilchuck!
He's the halfling half-foot representation in our party and takes the role seriously. He's very conscious of the peculiarities of half feet and takes full advantage of his size while expertly sidestepping the shortcomings. Insistent in his role as a non-combatant, Chilchuck makes excellent use of his heightened senses and lightweight frame to both find and disarm traps as well as act as something of a sentry for the party. Or- he doesn't do any guarding so maybe it'd be more apt to call him a watch dog- ... watch.... chihuahua? Yes. He is a watch chihuahua.
His stubbornness and work ethic has earned him quite a reputation on the island. At least some of the other half-feet see him as arrogant and greedy, though the reality of the situation is that he is so strict with the other half feet to protect them. Chilchuck has long since disposed of his naivety, coming to terms with how the other species making up humanity tend to view half-feet.
So, classpect time.
Chilchuck is a....
Sylph Of Life!
Tumblr media
One who restores [Life]/advances [Life]
I think one of the biggest things is that Chilchuck is just very tightly bound to responsibility, one of the key... aspects, I guess, of the Life aspect.
I should start calling these "Sub-aspects" or something.
He's always on Laios' proverbial dick about being a better leader, and it's hard to blame him. Laios has a lot to work on, and that's well known. I don't know if I'd go as far as calling Chil a mentor figure per say, but he is well aware of the situation they're in. I'm not talking about the awareness from his heightened senses either. He's by far the most sensible of any of our heroes. He's pretty much always got something to look out for. Keeping everyone alive, sane, and out of trouble are really his main goals in the story. Not to say that the others don't also want these things, but Chilchuck shows few desires outside of that. I think he's really the only party member that consistently gets on people's cases about being reckless. He has good cause for being like this, nearly being a sacrificial lamb for his first party. With that sort of intro, it's hard to keep your innocence.
Another manifestation of the responsibility sub-aspect is his commitment to being a non-combatant.
Tumblr media
It isn't in his contract, but it's important to note that he isn't unwilling to help in these sorts of situations. It isn't his job to charge into battle. He still helps wherever he can tho! And at the end of the day, he will take up that responsibility. He throws the knife into the dragon's eye, he guides Senshi's blade to the dryads, and he deals with the mimic.
See you next time!

Next up is Laios!
The leader of our somewhat intrepid heroes! Laois is best known for his love of monsters. It'd be a lie by omission to leave out his autism. It's quite apparent not just in his monster obsession, but in his social life and peculiarities with different sensations. But it's most obvious in his special interest; which makes sense as that just so happens to be at the forefront of the story. It's why the story is even able to happen. What would've happened if Laios didn't know all he did about monsters? Or frankly, if he just wasn't eager to try eating them?
More secondary information about Laios, funny as this is to say, is that he's one of the front liners for the party. He's courageous and tough. He's versatile and quick-witted. He's resourceful-
And he's kind.
So, with that out of the way:
Laios is....
A Knight Of Light!
Tumblr media
One who exploits [Light]/protects with [Light]
Listen. It's not my fault that all of these knights keep getting a knight class!
Perhaps the first thing I want to talk about here and to remind everyone about, is that Knights exist in sessions void of their aspect. Tbh sometimes I think I should probably try to work that into my little descriptor above at some point; and then I remember it sort of is already. That's the in the "exploit" part. The Knight gets a lot out of a little. How this exists in Dungeon Meshi, is that nobody is really taking advantage of the dungeon as it exists. Laios sees it for what it is, and because of that, our heroes are able to progress through the dungeon despite not having a penny to their name. Part of it fr me too is that when Laios loses his sword he picks up another one that a lot of people would refuse, or at least kill the monster inside it first. And Laios's insistence not to proves a boon! Also, probably the fault of Dave, but whenever I think about how a Knight should work I always look right to their weapon. How do they get the most they can out of this by exploiting their aspect? Kensuke is a great answer to me.
Would Senshi have even joined their party if not for Laios? ... Probably not? But more likely is that no one else would've let him join their party. Which I guess we do know to be true as he'd been living in the dungeon alone for years. Senshi really was a diamond in the rough and I don't think I can understate that. He's just weird. That's really the only " bad " thing about him; and Our Boy Laios here of course sees that as a positive! Laios learning healing magic lets Marcille shine. Despite a lot of people in the story really not liking Chilchuk, Laios wants him in the party and lets him work as he sees fit. I can't think of a boss I've had that would've been fine in the same scenario. And you know what? It lets Chilchuk thrive! He turns out to not just be great at what he can do but also puts his best foot forward even when he doesn't want to do things. He's always emphasizing his role as a noncombatant, which Laios takes in stride, but when push comes to shove he's throwing a dagger into the eye of a Red Dragon. He could've ran!
Tumblr media
Now you might be thinking: "Gee, this sounds an awful lot like a Blood player or maybe a Hope player."
And- well, you're not wrong exactly. There's an argument to be made for each of those. But I want to ask you: "What is Dungeon Meshi really about?" To me, it's about the deconstruction of the dungeon. What actually is a dungeon? Is it really just a setting that only exists when our heroes are inside? How does it function? What happens to all of the monsters after the adventurers leave? Where does the treasure come from? Why are the monsters the way that they are? What happens to the traps after they've been sprung?
These sorts of questions have been largely ignored or hand-waved by storytellers and dungeon masters for years and years. And that's ok. But it doesn't mean you have to do that. As we can see, there are so many wonderful answers to be found here!
And really, who better to explore all of this than Laois?

Yeah I def might. We'll see how I'm feeling when we get there I suppose. Also it's a bit hard to see but i did include the codpiece in marcille's edit lol
I think the hardest part about classpecting this group is going to be that I've read the whole manga but only half the show has come out. I'm going to avoid spoilers to the best of my ability for the aniem-only folks.
I guess I might just have to imply some of the stuff for later lol.
Anyways, let's dive right in starting with Marcille Donato!!
Tumblr media
Our elven friend here plays a very interesting role in the little group! With Falin's absence, she's the only mage in the party (I suppose you could count Laios one he starts learning) and she's also quite often the "Straight man" of the group, being the voice of reason amongst a bunch of weirdos. That being said she has her fair share of wackiness! For one thing, she specializes in dark magic! It seems she mainly knows how to make stuff explode, some healing spells, some miscellaneous buff magic, and then a whole bunch of forbidden mumbo jumbo.
She is shown to be both caring and intelligent and is instrumental on the quest to rescue Falin. Probably her most notable moment comes when she finally gets the chance to employ some of that illegal magic and revive Falin.
With that out of the way:
Marcille is...
A Bard Of Doom!!!!
Tumblr media
One who destroys [Doom]/one who invites destruction through [Doom]
Now, if you're done laughing, let's dig into this a bit more. Marcille very succinctly fulfills her role as Bard Of Doom, give me a chance to convince you. Take a look at Falin's revival. Marcille brings her back from the dead by employing forbidden magic; but she doesn't just undo her death, she undoes a death that is by and far insurmountable. This resurrection, whether purely her fault or not, results in Falin becoming a chimera and falling under Thistle's control. Shortly thereafter, Falin decimates the combined might of 4 adventuring parties.
As fun as these huge, all inclusive examples are, I also quite enjoy the more minor aspects that allude to her classpect. They're everywhere! For example: Marcille's distaste for eating monsters. Senshi's focus on the dungeon as an ecosystem. Marcille's constant resistance to participating in cycle this showcases how she continually tries to destroy the aspect of Doom in herself. She keeps herself removed from the cycle of life in the dungeon as much as possible.
There are more examples later on and unfortunately, I can't really go over them without spoiling the hell out of people. It really is a shame, but that's just how it is. So if you're anime-only, you'll just have to trust me. And if you've read the manga, then I'm sure you can instantly figure out what I'm talking about.
Alright folks! That'll be it for now, look forward to more soon! I'm planning on going thru the rest of the crew soon as well as answering some of the asks that have built up.

Do you think you could find a classpect for the immortal snail? Also hi, been a while since your last post, how are you?
Hello! I've been good! Very busy with life. Got my first big kid job after grad school, got a girlfriend, life is going well! Just very busy lol. How're you doing? It's also been a while since I've gotten an ask from you lol.
Tumblr media
So. The Immortal Snail. This has got to be about the hypothetical Snail that is immortal, out to get you, and instantly kills you if it touches you, right? I think there's a few different variations of this scenario but they all involve that + some instant reward in exchange for taking on this assassin, right? I feel like I've heard one version that includes the snail periodically teleporting too.
But anyways this is a pretty simple character to analyze, which always makes me lean towards an Heir. Not to say that Heirs can't have nuance of course, but more that if you boiled each class down as much as possible, I think Heir is probably the most intact at that final stage. If that makes any sense. I'd also consider a Bard here, or maybe a Prince.
Light is a pretty obvious aspect here, but I'd also consider Void. Bard of Void is pretty interesting. I think I like that!
So Bard of Void:
One who invites destruction through [Void]/one who lacks [Void]
Popping into existence from nowhere, and as a snail of all things. It brings along with it great wealth, which ties into the absence of Void part. You suddenly live a very wealthy life! How exciting. But then one day, it suddenly ends. No warning. It's just over. Because a snail touched you! You really thought you sealed that jar well but apparently, something happened. Or maybe nothing happened. Nothing you could notice anyways.

How do you handle classpecting characters you aren't really familiar with? Do you just go through the wiki or do you judt not cover characters you can't find enough information on?
I ask because I want to request a character but they're pretty obscure so I'm fairly certain you're not gonna know who they are when I ask.
I'll go thru the wiki regardless to refresh myself but I like to check stuff out. I've done it more than a few times, most recently The Devil Wears Prada and Godzilla were things I had to go out of my way to watch. If I can't find it I'll usually just push it aside and come back to it later once I get a chance to read/watch the thing said character is in.
Feel free to shoot it over anyways. Can't promise I'll get to it right away or that I'll have already seen whatever you're talking about but at the very least there isn't much harm in sending an ask in. Worst case scenario it sits in my inbox for a while.

Time to finish off this ask with, last but not least: Diamonds Droog.
Tumblr media
Mr. Droog is a classically classic guy. Smooth, efficient, polite, and calm. He knows what needs to be done and does it; or gets someone else to do it if they need to. He’s got some good character defining moments to look at. Egging Aradia on to kill Vriska, egging Tavros on to kiss Vriska, oh- and let’s not forget the long history of violence; take your pick as to which one you like best.
Unfortunately there isn’t a ton to say about him beyond that. I mean he’s cool. But at the end of the day he’s kind of a.... quintessential member of the Midnight Crew.
So with that out of the way, Diamonds Droog is a......
Tumblr media
Maid Of Mind
(Why won’t tumblr let me make that bigger.....?)
One who serves [Mind]/is void of [Mind]
A Maid of Mind is going to be mostly concerned with making things happen around them. Someone who pushes things along because the alternative is that nobody does anything. This also comes with the added point of being separate from the aspect themselves. That might be a little confusing when talking about Mind though. DD isn’t mindless after all, so how does he fit into that part of the role?
He does in... well a few ways I suppose. He is a little mindless in that he just wants to see shit happen. I’m thinking of when he was coaching Aradia and Tavros here. He didn’t know the full story and he didn’t come up with a plan for them. He just kind of... wanted it to happen. For them to do stuff for the sake of it. Funnily enough I think he takes the “Mindless” out of “Mindless violence” in most of his encounters though. It’s certainly where he goes first but it’s also usually because he’s trying to get something done.
I think that’s about if for the final member of the Midnight Crew! Thanks for reading :)
