 Ishgard was a very xenophobic city before. Or rather still is, but proper manners prevent such things from being said in open housing and other such public events. Unless you were a idiot noble. 

 “It is.” he says, voice fond upon remembering his homeland. “I hope to see it���again.”

 “But this city is home for now. Are you new? I have been here for a year and more.”

   "I'm sure you will one day. I'm sure we'll all return to our homes." Although, perhaps this was her just being hopeful. Hopeful that she might return to her friends and family.

   "Yes, I've only just arrived."

   "Wait. You've been here a whole year already?" Her eyes widened. That's not good. If he had been here for a whole year already how long was she going to be here? 

   "That's so long." A lot could happen in a year and she could only imagine what a mess things were going to be once she returned to Eorzea. She probably wasn't going to sleep for a year if things were still standing.

       at the sudden quell of excitement from the other, Manako adjusts herself properly.  her back straightens and eyes close as she takes a deep inhale to gather her thoughts.  it is true, a young Xaela girl much like herself stands before her.  the softness in her voice eases Manako a bit more, allowing her to offer a humble smile. 

       ❝ There is no need to apologize.  I can understand the sudden hope. ❞  which isn’t exactly a lie.  her introduction is welcome, although it should have been Manako first.  she did, after all, pose the first question.  

       ❝ My name is Manako Mitsu.  It’s nice to meet you, too. ❞  she tries to smile, but it comes out a bit fearful.  in fact, the prior inquiry unsettled her greatly.  the Azim Steppe…?  what a memory.  it gives her the chills.

       ❝ I was raised in Limsa Lominsa.  My parents were Seekers of the Sun Miqo’te.  I never learned if I was borne of the Steppe.  And … I don’t want to know.  They… ❞  her voice falls to a low whisper, ❝ they scare me. Savages, they are. ❞  it almost hurts to say.  she will never forget the sneers of disdain towards her.  an outsider she was, although kin.  she never made it to see a cordial tribe to welcome her.  ❝ Are you of the Steppe? ❞

   "I wasn't expecting to see another Au Ra here, there's so many other people from so many different places," she fidgeted a little. She still felt bad for getting overexcited, but that was done and over now. 

   "Ah. Limsa is such a busy but beautiful city~ I like visiting there~" Although, part of the reason she was there was to fish. Inkeri loved fishing and Limsa was the best place to get a hold of some of the fish she enjoyed eating. Plus the guild was there.

   "I-I was born of the Steppe yes. I didn't grow up there though. I foolishly had wandered outside and was taken by pirates across the sea. I don't remember much from that time, but I remember running from them and my adoptive father took me in. He's a Miqo'te too." She hoped he was doing okay. With her trapped here, it wasn't like she could return home to check on him and she missed him.

   "I don't blame you. Being there was overwhelming and they are all so . . . fierce."  A couple of them came to mind in specific but if Manako had met the same people she had it was likely she didn't need to specify.

   Since coming to this place Inkeri had come to expect to see some interesting things some of the residents were unlike anything she had seen in Eorzea or even Norvrandt. However, much like when she had ended up in Norvrandt she adjusted, quickly. There was no time to mope around she had much to accomplish still. Including finding a way home eventually.

   Her current and most important issue she had needed solving though was a lack of food in her apartment. So she had made it a priority today to get proper food, preferably food she recognized. Most of the food she had finally acquired was different but seemed similar so hopefully she would like it. If not she was going to have to eat it anyway.

   With her arms full of a few groceries she began her trek home and things were going smoothly. Until suddenly they weren't. She stepped wrong on her left leg and in that moment crashed right into someone her groceries scattering everywhere. But of course, this is how things would end. Never a dull moment in her life.

   "I-I'm s-so s-s-sorry," her stutter came out in full force as she glanced up at the other her eyes widening a little. This person reminded her of the Ananta with their serpentine appearance. However, this person didn't have the soft faces the Ananta had and their scales were a beautiful light color.

   "I'm n-not usually so clumsy that I fall into others. Are you okay?"

   It would appear she had gotten turned around. An unfortunate situation but not one that was unexpected seeing as there were quite a few times she got turned around on her homeworld. Enough to concern her friends on a couple occasions. 

   That didn't however stop her from feeling a little frustrated considering she was just trying to purchase either a harp or a flute. She missed playing and performing and couldn't take the loss of her instruments anymore. 

   The map of this place she had acquired though was confusing. She could have sworn she was following the map right, but it would appear not or she would have already found the place. It probably didn't help the place was so large. She had honestly never seen a place with this many shops in her life or this many layers of stores on top of each other. 

   Inkeri wasn't going to give up though it wasn't her style and with this many people around she just had to pick one and ask. Which is exactly what had her standing in front of a strange woman. Swallowing her anxiety she took a deep breath to calm her nerves.

   "E-excuse me. I was looking for a music shop and I got a little t-turned around and can't seem to get back on track. Would you be able to point me in the right direction?"

Holding a bag of groceries and his summer outfit, there was little recognition coming from himself as well to the younger one. The species, Au ra was at this point, known. 

 “I don’t believe we have…unless you were a visitor at Ishgard.”

   "I-I actually stayed in Ishgard for a while. It is a very beautiful city~” 

   She didn't offer him any more information than that. The pause in his sentence having caught her attention and made her a little nervous. She had likely already given him too much information but this could be her reading too much into it.

        ❝ …no. ❞  the response comes quick and stern.  the excitement of the other Au Ra causes Manako a little discomfort.  not only is she an Au Ra, but a Xaela.  though … there is no ill intent that radiates off this curious one.  perhaps she can let her guard down just a tad. 

       ❝ I just got here.  Though I’m not sure where ‘here’ is. How did you … ❞  she folds her hands behind her back tightly.  ❝ You, too, are a Xaela, yes? ❞  

   "I-I'm sorry." She hadn't meant to get so excited. A rather unfortunate effect with her having grown up away from other Au Ra. She still got a little too excited when she encountered others like her. However, the other Au Ra seemed perhaps nervous to Inkeri which made perfect sense. Inki did after all kind of jump her with excitement and they've never met before so that was definitely a bit much.

   "I'm n-new here too." She had been hoping that the other Au Ra had been here longer so she could perhaps ask questions. 

   "I'm not really sure where here is either and it's not really like anything I've seen before." On the plus side it wasn't like this was the first time she was pulled somewhere strange, but at least the other time she had been pulled to somewhere that was at least similar to her home. No such luck this time.

   "Ah, yes I am." Inkeri just smiled awkwardly at the other her tail swaying back and forth ever so slightly. She could feel her initial burst of bravery fading away as anxiety set in.

   "A-are you from the Azim Steppe or . . . wait no, that's a rude question. I haven't even introduced myself and I'm asking where you're from," she blushes a little.

   "Let's start again. I'm sorry for j-jumping you right away. I'm Inkeri Malqir, it's nice to meet you," she smiled.

   “Hm?” Inkeri tilts her head to the side ever so slightly confusion clear before she realized she was looking at another Au Ra. At which point excitement overtook her briefly her tail wiggling back and forth in excitement before she managed to calm herself back down.

   “I wasn’t expecting to meet another Au Ra here~ H-have you been here long?” She was so happy to see another of her kind enough that her own shyness wasn’t even a consideration as she kind of babbled at the other woman.

   "You seem familiar h-have I met you before? Or seen you somewhere before perhaps?" She glances up at the elezen man standing before her she wouldn't have bothered asking but it was bothering her.

   It's not like he would have drawn her attention if she hadn't seen him before right? Or perhaps he just simply had one of those faces.

   Something didn't feel right. Eye's snap open as Inkeri whips her head around only to find herself standing before a large hole in what appears to be a city of some kind. Although, nothing looked familiar.

   It was all strange which had the au ra woman holding her hands to her chest as she tried to calm herself her tail flicking back and forth. This was just like before when she was pulled away from her own world. Yet it also wasn't?

   'Where . . .'

   Inkeri felt lost. She didn't feel her blessing of light she felt weakened and now that she looked her bow was replaced with a toy of all things. How frustrating although that wouldn't stop her in the end.

   Her eyes widened as a car stopped before the platform she was currently on. The last time she had seen one of these was when she had helped and befriended Noctis when he had gotten lost in her world.

   The driver made her a little uncomfortable but still she slid into the backseat looking over the small booklet that was sitting there. It would appear she was to reside here in this strange city and take part in their experiment. 

   However, such thoughts made the woman anxious. If she was trapped here what did that mean for the war or even her friends who were trapped on the first. She wouldn't be there to prevent anything and that thought alone was probably going to keep her up at night for the next while.

   Taking deep breath's she managed to calm herself down and watched curiously out the window. It would appear the driver knew where to take her and for that she was grateful. At least she wouldn't be stranded out in the open with no clue on where to go. 

   When the car finally stopped and she was dropped off before the building that was to serve as her home she managed a small smile at the driver before taking her first steps into the place that would now serve as her home while she lived in this strange city.

   For now she would find her room and rest. Tomorrow she would scout her surroundings and try to see what there was to learn from this place.
