I'm probably going to draw empyrean traditionally with oen and paper, then digitally color it. I just think my traditional lion style works best for what I'm going for (sneak peek)

Ive basically completed writing for the first half of the story, and have begun storyboarding <3 my goal is to be in a position where I can hire other artists to help me, so it may still be a while yet. I'm just excited!

I also made a rough guide to explain to my friends how I design these characters.

For designing's sake, these lions can be most shades of tan/tawny/brown/gold. More extremes exist, like white lions and red lions, but usually have a real world explanation such as leucisim and erythrism.

Similar to real life lions, the color of the nose will change over time of the character and is meant to be an indicator of age. The darker the nose, the older the lion!

The eyes can be less natural, with the main rule being that the scelera should be a darker shade of the same iris color.

Wnd then a greyscale lion to show the main marking rules. The lightest parts of the lions should be the distinct facial markings, followed by a lighter countershading, with the darkest color being the ears and tail tip.

Basically any markings can appear if you can see them on real lions!

this is a 12 page storyboard comic I made like a year ago in order to show my concept for this story. I'm posting it here just to get this thing started. Please note, there's minor blood in the following pages from lions hunting.
